00:00Hier ist Ihr Host, Taylor Rooks.
00:05Incredible night for Wimby in Minnesota.
00:0839 points, 15 rebounds, 5 blocks.
00:11The Spurs taking the 2-1 lead over the Timberwolves.
00:15And Wimby will join us shortly on tonight's show.
00:19Welcome on in. I'm Taylor Rooks with BG, Dirk, Steve, and UD.
00:23And it is another night that we are sitting here
00:26talking about the absolute brilliance of Victor Wimby in Yama.
00:30Watching him tonight was incredible,
00:32the way he willed his team to this win, Steve.
00:35Incredible. I mean, what can we say?
00:37He got 39 points, 15 rebounds, 5 blocks.
00:40We saw the names there.
00:42Hakeem, Shaq.
00:44I mean, this is the type of company he's in
00:45in his first playoff experience.
00:47We know the defensive prowess.
00:50We know that his length inside,
00:52he makes some uncanny plays around the basket.
00:54And then he says in the fourth quarter,
00:56All right, how about I just step outside
00:57and make some threes, so...
00:59This is tough.
01:00Pretty prodigious performance from Victor.
01:03Yeah, I mean, I was just impressed with his poise.
01:08Like, he just sort of took that game in stride.
01:11It never seemed like he got a little bit too sped up.
01:14The physicality didn't seem to bother him.
01:15He just sort of took what the defense was giving him.
01:18And sometimes that was a pass.
01:19Sometimes that was just setting a screen,
01:21rolling, being around the rim.
01:23He also got his hand on so many rebounds
01:26that he probably shouldn't have taken rebounds down
01:29with one hand.
01:30I was just impressed with just his ability
01:32to sort of be the calming presence on that team
01:35for such a young player.
01:36We heard Candace talking about it in the broadcast,
01:39but just that he is kind of growing up
01:41in front of our eyes throughout this playoff series.
01:43How are you seeing that maturity show, UD?
01:45Just the patience offensively,
01:47like the guys talked about.
01:48A little bit in the high post,
01:49I think he was premeditated
01:51when he was making his moves,
01:52knowing he was going to spin
01:53and the spin wasn't actually there.
01:54So now he's reading and he's reacting.
01:56He's making the right play.
01:57If he doesn't have the shot,
01:58he's spraying it out to other guys.
02:00And defensively, his patience defensively,
02:02he's waiting for these guys to actually commit
02:04before he goes and blocks the shot.
02:05So he never has an early rotation
02:07where he just gives up a wide-open shot to somebody.
02:09He waits for you to commit to the shot,
02:11and then he goes and blocks the shot.
02:13So as an offensive player,
02:14you have to change your mindset.
02:15And these guys have to get in the firm room.
02:17You need to start focusing on dribbling up,
02:18dribbling out, dribbling through.
02:19Once you dribble through,
02:20you get a cutter to the basket.
02:22Wimby can't be everywhere at all times.
02:23So this is something that I think
02:25they need to look at going into the next game.
02:26Or can he?
02:28Probably can.
02:29Possibly can.
02:30He possibly can.
02:31I think really this is a must-win for them,
02:33obviously losing home court advantage
02:35there in game one.
02:36He set the tone early with an unbelievable start,
02:38and he finished the game.
02:40You knew at some point his three-ball was going to fall.
02:42He was off in the first two games.
02:44He looked comfortable today.
02:45But just an incredible all-around performance.
02:48For me, you know, he's playing more minutes now
02:50than he did in the regular season.
02:52He's holding up fine.
02:53He had the stamina today to finish the game.
02:56Sometimes we saw him in the regular season.
02:57You know, in the fourth, he's kind of pumping his arms.
03:00He looks a little tired.
03:01But he didn't look tired today.
03:03He was incredible.
03:04He finished the game with some incredible plays on both ends.
03:07So hats off.
03:08Did I see him run again, Dirk?
03:10Yeah.
03:12He keeps him tucked, though.
03:13He keeps him tucked.
03:14No wasted movement.
03:16He had 39 points, a playoff career high.
03:18The most by a Spurs player since Kawhi in 2017.
03:23Those Spurs just got a honder.
03:25Spurs just keep getting lucky.
03:29Getting Timmy Duncan back then right before I got in the league,
03:32and he was great for 20-something years,
03:34and now they've got another game-changer
03:37and franchise-changer for the next decade-plus.
03:40So, yeah, I'm a little bit mad about him.
03:47You guys got the number one pick last year.
03:48What are we doing?
03:49Cooper 5.
03:50This is rookie of the year.
03:51This is true.
03:51This is true.
03:52Cold envelope.
03:55Now, Wimby is one thing, of course,
03:57but the future of the NBA is bright.
03:59We know they lost the game,
04:00but Anthony Edwards, also great performance in this one, BG.
04:04Yeah, he was great.
04:05I mean, it was nice to see him get sort of regular minutes starting.
04:09You know, at times, he looks good offensively,
04:11I think, with the ball in his hand.
04:12He's going downhill,
04:13but it does seem like defensively he's moving a little bit gingerly.
04:17Could just be me, but I noticed certain times tonight.
04:20So, it's definitely still affecting him,
04:22but, I mean, to come out and have the performance that he did
04:25on what I guess he would call 60%,
04:28which I would have loved that 60%.
04:31But, I mean, you're clearly seeing Minnesota just banged up.
04:36Steve Vincenzo is such a bright spot for them,
04:39and, you know, Io is probably not 100% as well.
04:43So, it's tough.
04:45I mean, it's tough to go against the number two team in the West
04:48and possibly the second best team in the NBA.
04:50Not, you know, not fully healthy.
04:52I still like what the Spurs are doing with Ant.
04:55They're making it hard on him.
04:56They're trapping him sometimes up in half court.
04:58They're mixing it up.
04:59I mean, he was brilliant at 32 today, but really a hard 32.
05:04Took 26 shots.
05:05After the first quarter, he was 8 for 20 for only 19 points,
05:09and everything you saw there, two guys were around him.
05:12He had to float.
05:13He had to lean.
05:14They got the ball out of his hands some.
05:16So, they're basically saying your shots are tough and you're not beating us solo.
05:21So, that's a good game plan by the Spurs.
05:23They also had a really slow start.
05:25Remember, they didn't make their first shot of the game until just over five minutes left in the first quarter.
05:29UD, you're always talking about where you start.
05:32That's how you're going to finish.
05:34Yeah, that was all self-inflicted.
05:35The ball wasn't moving.
05:36The ball was sticking.
05:37And I think if you don't move San Antonio from side to side offensively, you're not going to get a
05:41good shot.
05:42The goal is to break these guys down over a 48-minute game.
05:45So, if you come down and you get a shot off in the first 10 seconds, the defense did not
05:49have to work.
05:49You were 8 for 24 or 25 in the first half in the first 10 seconds of the shot clock.
05:53So, you're not making these guys work.
05:55When you make these guys work, move side to side, when he has to rotate, they have a better chance
05:59of getting a quality shot
06:00and also getting an offensive rebound if you don't get the shot.
06:02So, you control the boards tonight.
06:04You deal well offensive rebound.
06:06Where I would be concerned if I'm Minnesota is they're beating me at my own game.
06:09San Antonio is beating me at my own game.
06:11The last game, they had 58 points in the paint.
06:13This game, they had 46 points in the paint.
06:15Last game, you had 31 points in the paint.
06:17This game, you had 38.
06:18You've been leading the playoffs in point paint.
06:20So, yes, the Wimby impact is real right now.
06:23You have to figure out what you're going to do with that because that is your bread and butter.
06:27Tons of pressure on that.
06:28I mean, I know he's not 100%, but, like, he's the one guy that can get a quality shot time
06:32and time again.
06:33That's why they're blitzing him or soft-trapping him, letting other guys get some space because Wimby's back there.
06:38So, you know, very tough, tough task for him, especially coming off an injury.
06:43So, we'll see how he holds up, see if they can squeeze one out at home here because if they
06:48don't,
06:48I mean, obviously, it's going to be back to the drawing board in the summer for this franchise.
06:51Yeah, I agree.
06:52And in that instance, Julius Randle got to be a little better, you know.
06:56He was incredible, I thought, as a finisher in game one.
06:59Had some big buy baskets floating to the left.
07:01And today he was three for 12, just not cutting it with his second-best player.
07:07And they're trapping Ants.
07:08So, you need a little bit more out of him.
07:11And really, Jaden McDaniels was five for 22.
07:13I need him to dominate that matchup against Castle.
07:15When he has Castle down there, you've got to dominate that.
07:17Yeah.
07:18All right.
07:18It's time now for premium player presented by Patron.
07:22We welcome in Victor Wimman.
07:26Salud.
07:27Salud.
07:27Salud.
07:28Still locked in.
07:30Still locked in.
07:31You know, another brilliant game from you.
07:3439 points.
07:35You had 16 points in the fourth quarter.
07:37What did it require from you down the stretch to get this one?
07:44You said it, down the stretch.
07:45I mean, the hardest part about the game, and this team especially, is they hold you.
07:51They have to hold you to these high standards.
07:53Otherwise, it's just going to make runs.
07:54It's just going to bully you.
07:56So, it's really consistency.
07:58Victor, great game tonight, man.
08:00It's Blake.
08:01You know, when the game slowed down tonight, the game got more physical.
08:05It felt like there was multiple bodies, multiple arms on you at all times.
08:09I thought you went to a different place, and you sort of steadied the ship.
08:13You were the calm.
08:13Talk about where you've grown mentally in that area.
08:19I've really been waiting since I've been in the league to live those moments, you know,
08:22those high-stakes games.
08:24You know, that's what I love.
08:26It's the feeling I got before games.
08:29You know, this, I don't know, this excitement or this heat in my heart.
08:32You know, it's even stronger, and it just gets stronger and stronger as the games go on.
08:37I'm just, I'm built for this.
08:39You know, I love this more than anything else.
08:42Hey, Wemby, we saw you talk to Coach Pop after game one loss.
08:46What kind of wisdom did he share with you?
08:48Obviously, he's the GOAT.
08:49What did he share with you?
08:53I speak to him every day, you know, before and after games, whether it's a quick take or a call.
08:59You know, he really emphasizes taking my time, you know, playing off two feet and not rushing, really,
09:07because it's what they do.
09:10Wemby, great game tonight, man.
09:12UD here.
09:15Fox, your coach Mitch said some great things about Fox and what he means to this team.
09:19Can you just talk about, like, the leadership and what he does for you guys on the court, off the
09:22court,
09:22and just, you know, everything he brings to this team?
09:26He knows how to step up in the right moments for sure.
09:28And especially, you know, when I'm off the floor and we're not going, he's not going to go in too
09:35many games with me,
09:36he holds the boat for everybody.
09:39Victor, the French are known for their taste.
09:42You know, art, architecture, food, wine.
09:45I have to...
09:46And I'm no exception.
09:49I wouldn't doubt you for one second, but I have to know, like, about your taste.
09:54Who do you have in the Champions League final, PSG or Arsenal?
09:57Oh, come on.
09:58PSG, of course.
09:59I'll finally make someone taste around here.
10:02Let's go.
10:03It's going to be fun.
10:03At least PSG is going to make it somewhat fun.
10:06There you go.
10:07I love it.
10:08Because I know Arsenal ain't.
10:09This is true.
10:10This is true.
10:11You know, Wemby, it was so much fun to just watch you out there.
10:14The passion.
10:15I mean, you left home court, obviously, went into enemy territory, got the win against a very loud Minnesota crowd.
10:21Do you feel like you really thrive in these environments with the crowd against you?
10:27Yeah, yeah, I would say so.
10:29And here it's a good crowd.
10:31It's a good crowd.
10:31It's a good atmosphere.
10:33And as the games go on, the fans are more ready and more ready, you know.
10:38Let me ask you one last thing, Wemby.
10:40Game one, you looked like you rushed a few things and you weren't quite patient.
10:44What changed from you from game one to game two and game three?
10:49Watching film, facing the mistakes, facing, you know, the real talk and saying the true things to my teammates and
10:58having my teammates and coaches, you know, hold me accountable.
11:02Simple as that.
11:03Because really, we got what it takes.
11:05You know, we got the talent.
11:06We got the depth.
11:07We don't got the experience, but we don't care.
11:10And, you know, we need to apply.
11:12And we can go to the top, to the very top if we play, like, tonight consistently.
11:18Wow.
11:18We don't got the experience, but we don't care.
11:20I love it.
11:22Great win, Wemby.
11:23Thank you so much for joining us.
11:24Thanks, man.
11:25Keep that part.
11:26Thank you.
11:29All right.
11:29We just checked in with the Spurs, of course.
11:31Now, let's check in with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Chris Finch, who's at the podium.
11:37Chris, I'm not sure I've seen players hold a referee back from their head coach before.
11:43Pretty unprofessional, huh?
11:44Well, can you just kind of tell us what happened?
11:46Yeah, I wanted the timeout.
11:47Yeah.
11:47And I had called it three seconds earlier, and I wanted the timeout.
11:50And I said, I want my three seconds back.
11:54And so, you know, because he clearly heard me.
11:58He looked my way, ignored me, went on with the play, and then, you know, gave me the almost cost
12:04us a turnover.
12:07So, and then, you know, he lost it.
12:09Then I went to ask him where the ball was going to be taken in, and he screamed at me
12:12for that.
12:13So, completely unprofessional behavior by him.
12:17Hey, I mean, I've never seen that.
12:18I've never seen that.
12:19Yeah, I've never seen a referee follow a coach.
12:21I want my damn three seconds back, too.
12:23Playoff game.
12:24Hey, Tony Brothers is one of a kind, though.
12:26Let's just leave it there.
12:29Go ahead, BG.
12:30I mean, I thought that was completely wrong at a certain point.
12:35I know officiating is an incredibly hard job, and everybody's always mad at you.
12:40But I've never seen an official go at a ref like that.
12:44I mean, an official go at a coach like that.
12:46And then to follow it up again, to be honest, I thought Tony was out of line.
12:51Charity boxing match?
12:53Me and Tony?
12:55Sure.
12:56All right.
12:56I'll take Chris Finch, too.
12:57Two versus one.
12:59Yeah, I mean, the follow, it just felt very intense.
13:02I mean, I'm glad Chris Finch was able to speak his piece about it on the podium, Dirk.
13:06Yeah, I figured, you know, in the heat of the emotion, you can yell one time at each other
13:11and then both go each other's way, but keep falling.
13:13Then Finch came back, and then Tony Brothers came back, and it was too much.
13:17It was a distraction we don't need.
13:19You know, you have a big timeout, go talk to your team.
13:22It was just, that was too much.
13:23And probably wrongs on both sides, but...
13:26Emotion's flaring.
13:26I think an official's job, though, is to de-escalate, right?
13:30Like, coaches coach, players play, everybody's got...
13:32Not Tony, though.
13:34There's a lot of alpha males out there.
13:36There's a lot of, you know, high testosterone, emotions are high.
13:39I feel like Tony was definitely wrong, but there's an opportunity after the game to, hey,
13:45go by his office or send a note or a text or reach out.
13:47Hey, man, emotions was high, my bad.
13:49Nah, Tony probably ain't going to do that.
13:51But I'm just saying, there's an opportunity there, because we all understand emotions are high
13:54in the playoffs, trust me, I done did some things in the playoff games that I'm a little
13:58shamed of, too.
14:00It's part of the emotions and it's part of the game.
14:02All right, well, as you can tell, we're just getting started here on NBA Nightcap.
14:05When we come back, more on the Knicks' big win in Game 3 to take a 3-0 series lead
14:10over
14:10the Sixers.
14:11We will be right back.
14:22NBA Nightcap is presented by Patron.
14:26Simply perfect.
14:34And the Sixers had a good one tonight.
14:38It was Game 3 in the first quarter.
14:41Sixers led by three on the break here.
14:44Get it.
14:45Beach.
14:46Little V.J. Max.
14:48Next possession.
14:50Maxine Edgecombe.
14:51Again.
14:52What the heck?
14:55Sixers led by seven after that.
14:56Second quarter.
14:57Knicks now within two.
14:58On the break.
15:01How about the way Jordan Clarkson's been playing?
15:04He just turned into a hustle guy.
15:06Definitely.
15:07Offensive rebound.
15:08Come on, Mitch.
15:10Mitch.
15:10Well, Steve is just abbreviating everyone's name.
15:13So if you.
15:14M-R.
15:15Yeah.
15:16Rob.
15:17Oh, look at that young Sixers fan there.
15:20Fourth quarter.
15:21Josh Hart to Miguel Bridges.
15:23He's going to turn around.
15:24He's going to bring the shots for the Knicks now.
15:26Our guy Kyle.
15:27Not happy about that.
15:27I don't know, Kyle.
15:28We don't know what they're doing either.
15:30Same question I got.
15:31Frunson drives in.
15:32He gets a shot off the glass.
15:34Unreal.
15:36Then the Knicks just closed this one out.
15:38They're up 14 and on the break, bring some dishes to Bridges.
15:41Mm.
15:42Lamey.
15:42For the lay-in.
15:43The playoffs, man.
15:44Too late.
15:44Oh, man.
15:45Tracy Morgan's happy.
15:47Lisan Algaib is happy.
15:51Nice.
15:52That's a Dune reference.
15:53Hey.
15:54She does it all.
15:55A little Dune here.
15:57Kelly Oubre talked about the Knicks after the loss.
16:02They have a good baseline foundation with the Nova boys, right?
16:06So they've kind of been able to tap into what they need at the opportune times and figure that out.
16:14And we have to get there and we have to do that same thing.
16:17So, you know, that's just what it is.
16:19Can you get hot as a defender?
16:24Um, sure.
16:26But this, maybe just our team defense just going up another notch as well.
16:33Jalen's laughing at my question.
16:35The best part that I've seen about McHale is from the first time I met him to now, his work
16:40ethic.
16:41Obviously, defensively, he creates havoc on and off the ball.
16:45But he's definitely grown as a player every single year.
16:47You get in a situation like this, I mean, all you can do is try to get the next one
16:51and then see what happens, right?
16:52I mean, I know that's pretty obvious.
16:54But, you know, it turns to, if you can get one, it turns to 3-1 pretty quick, right?
17:01And you don't have to, you know, think about it being 3-0 anymore.
17:07Coming up next, more from the Spurs win over the Timberwolves in Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals.
17:14NBA Nightcap continues after the break.
17:20Global spy thriller Citadel returns with an all-star cast, including Priyanka Chopra-Jonas, Richard Madden, and Stanley Tucci.
17:27Catch all the espionage and action only on Prime Video.
17:31All episodes now stream.
17:34Opening night in the WNBA meant the first game ever for the Toronto Tempo.
17:40They lost by three against the Miz.
17:42That would.
17:43Could have used a little more tempo.
17:44Just game one, though.
17:45Meanwhile in Seattle, the Valkyries started off their season with a win.
17:49They defeated the Storm 91-80.
17:52And Brianna Stewart and the Liberty dominated on opening night against the Suns.
17:56Stewie with 31 points.
17:58Oh, boy.
17:58And Tim Boyd.
17:59It's a little 31-point win.
18:00And it's a brand-new chapter of the WNBA on Prime.
18:04Tips off next week on Thursday, May 14th.
18:06The Lynx and Wings followed by the Liberty against the Fire.
18:10We cannot wait.
18:11Dirk, as you can tell, really can't wait to get our coverage started here on Prime.
18:18Wimby was dominant tonight in the Spurs' win over the Timberwolves.
18:2239 points, 15-4s, 5 blocks as San Antonio took the 2-1 series lead.
18:27Anthony Edwards had 32 of his own, 14-6 in the loss.
18:31He talked about Wimby after the game.
18:34But it seems like you have multiple times per possession where you're driving and kicking
18:39and driving and kicking.
18:40But that's a little bit different than the regular season and this opponent.
18:43Like, what is that kind of like mentally to stay focused on driving kick over and over?
18:47I mean, they got somebody who's 7'6 on the floor.
18:51And he takes up a lot of space.
18:54So, just trying to, you know, figure out ways to find an open man around him
18:58because in the paint he's just everywhere, you know.
19:00So, just trying to, you know, like I said, find ways to find somebody who opened.
19:05Yeah, I feel like we had a good dose of that throughout the whole game.
19:08I think, like, I went in the locker room and told the guys, like, we had a bunch of great
19:12looks.
19:12I feel like we had a bunch of great looks.
19:14And if we make our shots, we win this game.
19:17I love how so many answers are just like, they've got Wimby.
19:207'5", 7'6".
19:217'6".
19:22I mean, the scary part is that he's learning on the fly.
19:25Like UD said, or Blake said, he knows, like, I don't need to go for this one.
19:29I can scare him here.
19:30I can stay at home.
19:31I don't have to get into rotation.
19:32So, that's the hardest part here is that he's getting better and processing every game.
19:36How often have you seen a guy like this?
19:38Like, we've seen him just get better visually.
19:40Like, easily see him get better as the season's gone on.
19:43He was already really good.
19:45I think the Wolves adjusted good, though.
19:47In the first quarter, I felt like they were pushing a little bit.
19:49And then they realized, okay, the corners are open.
19:52Especially, obviously, if it's on Nas Reid, if it's on Randall.
19:56The corners are open.
19:57And there's good shots to be had.
19:58Because Wimby is coming.
20:00Yeah, very, very impressive win.
20:02All right, coming up next, with San Antonio getting a big win tonight.
20:05David Chang pays a visit to Spurs legend Sean Elliott.
20:10NBA Nightcap, presented by Patron, continues after this.
20:18Starting with the Pistons versus the Cavaliers at 3 Eastern on NBC and Peacock.
20:25Oh, so the last time we saw our friend, renowned chef David Chang, he was teaching us about German food.
20:32Do the dance.
20:33Look at Dirk.
20:33I thought we deleted that footage.
20:35No, we did not.
20:36Do the dance.
20:37No, we did not.
20:38We did not.
20:38It plays in perpetuity, actually.
20:42All right, this week, with the Spurs and the Western Conference demise, David Chang took a trip to San Antonio,
20:48paying a visit to Spurs legend, NBA champion, and longtime Spurs TV analyst Sean Elliott
20:53to learn more about the franchise that has built a sustained tradition of winning,
20:58the foundation of Spurs culture established by Greg Popovich, and, of course, to do some cooking.
21:04You read and you hear these stories about these huge dinners.
21:08Oh, yeah.
21:09And he really appreciates food and wine.
21:12When Pop came to take over the general manager, the culture shifted.
21:16Everything changed.
21:17I think players felt like they were a commodity.
21:21They felt like they were invested in and like they were part of the family.
21:26I think that's the biggest thing.
21:28Pop used to go to dinners on the road and then get a piece of carrot cake for dessert,
21:32and he'd leave a piece at Timmy's door at the hotel.
21:3618 months ago, you're never going to guess who's sitting next to me.
21:39Popovich.
21:40Next thing I know, there's five or six bottles, and we closed the restaurant down.
21:44I don't even think we talked about basketball, really.
21:48We had a restaurant.
21:50In the back of the kitchen, there was a poster of Popovich.
21:53Is that right?
21:56He's somebody that I've long admired, and it was just like, I can't believe this is happening.
22:02It's everything.
22:03It's the camaraderie.
22:04It's the love of food.
22:05It's the introduction of new things.
22:08You know, Bourdain was the person that popularized the idea that it's the best way to sort of be the
22:12icebreaker.
22:13If we're all eating something and it's delicious, now we have something that's in common, and we can talk about
22:18it, and then it's a memory that we can share.
22:20You know that game?
22:21How did you guys even wire that up?
22:24That's like, that to me is actually more impressive than a championship.
22:28No, you're looking at the man right here.
22:30I got Timmy into StarCraft.
22:33I bet you that if the Trailblazers had won the championship that year, they would not be playing.
22:37No, they weren't going to work out.
22:40StarCraft.
22:41When I had my kidney transplant, I was all doped up on morphine, and Timmy came to see me, and
22:45he brought his computer.
22:46That's the kind of organization it's been, everybody looks out for each other.
22:50You get to know somebody a lot better over dinner and wine, and so it brings the team a lot
22:56closer together.
22:56Maybe that's the secret sauce to the Spurs culture.
23:00A lot of the culture, it's always going to be there, and it's because we had guys that continued to
23:05pass it down.
23:05Manu's there all the time.
23:07Timmy's been helping Pop almost on a daily.
23:09A culture and a community, it's unrivaled.
23:13The first year, actually, I got invited to the draft.
23:16Pop called me and said, hey, come to the war room, and it had a little board about this big.
23:19At the top of the board, it said, not a spur.
23:22So it didn't matter how good you were.
23:25We weren't going to pick you if you were on that little whiteboard.
23:31My dad never wanted me to be a professional chef.
23:34He wanted me to be a professional golfer, but I earned out.
23:37That's understandable.
23:39That game is, you know.
23:41Yeah.
23:42Yeah.
23:42And I actually never enjoyed it.
23:44I actually just did it.
23:45Okay.
23:46But I think that was pretty instrumental in, like, how I think about everything.
23:52Everything is a competition for me.
23:54And I always view that you're only as good as your last dish, right?
23:58And I always say people don't eat awards.
24:02They can't eat awards.
24:03I've never been able to appreciate the success.
24:06If I'm sort of being content with where I'm at, I feel like it's all going to slip away.
24:11So I have to be paranoid about all the things that could go wrong.
24:15It's always, like, the next thing, the next challenge.
24:17That's the biggest thing.
24:18We had a coach years ago that told us there's responsibility that comes with winning.
24:22There's no responsibility that comes with losing.
24:24Every time we took the court, we expected to win.
24:27I grew up on government cheese and government milk.
24:29I didn't know anything about food.
24:30I liked my prime rib well done back in the day.
24:33I went to a lot of coaches' dinners.
24:35When you have that epiphany and you get a good, a really fine meal, something that sticks with you,
24:41that's what kind of, I think everybody has an epiphany meal where you go, oh, like, dang.
24:50Victor scares me a little bit because he's smart.
24:52He's really smart.
24:53What's more of an anomaly, his genetic makeup or his sort of competitive, sort of humble?
25:00Both.
25:00Both.
25:01He's a complete anomaly.
25:03He's not like the typical basketball player coming up because he didn't have everything given to him.
25:09He has no sense of entitlement.
25:10He wants to be the best player ever.
25:12To me, he's like Kobe Bryant at 7'4".
25:14He's got that killer.
25:16Like, he wants to destroy you.
25:17The thing I always look for the most is, do they give a s***?
25:20Right.
25:23And that's what I look for in green culture.
25:26We always want to win.
25:27We want to beat everybody.
25:28But we want to clearly be the best.
25:31We want to do everything we can within a moral compass to be the best.
25:37We're completely accepting of failure.
25:39We just don't want to land in between.
25:41To me, like, the thing that I've always tried to find are not the cooks that are the, quote-unquote,
25:46the best.
25:46Can you actually think how someone else is thinking?
25:50You can tell.
25:51They enjoy being around each other.
25:53I think our guys are just a complete unit.
25:55And they've chosen the way they play.
25:57Well, I have to ask them.
25:59Which team would have won if you had to face off?
26:00We'd beat their a**.
26:03Cheers.
26:04Thank you, guys.
26:05Cheers.
26:05Thank you, guys.
26:06Thank you, guys.
26:07Cheers.
26:07Cheers.
26:08Wow.
26:09So, Sean Elliott says his team's with beautiful gowns.
26:14No one knows that right?
26:15I mean, that's...
26:16No, beautiful gown.
26:17San Antonio away.
26:19Enjoy each other's success.
26:20Great piece.
26:21Yeah.
26:21There you go.
26:22Nice way to put a button on, UD.
26:23San Antonio away.
26:23Enjoy one another's success.
26:25Incredible.
26:26Thanks, UD.
26:27I appreciate it.
26:28All right.
26:29Well, don't go anywhere because you're not going to want to miss what's next.
26:35Oh, boy.
26:37What could that be?
26:38What is next?
26:40Are you guys nervous?
26:42Yes, I am.
26:42I am totally nervous.
26:43What are we dug in from the crates?
26:45What are we dug in from the crates today?
26:46Well, it is.
26:47We know you're not involved.
26:48It's us.
26:52There's much more that we can do, but you guys played through it.
26:54You played through whether it was missed shots.
26:57Our offense early on felt a little bit like game two where there was a lot of money left
27:02on the table and points that looked like we felt like we were right there to get
27:05and we just didn't convert for whatever reason.
27:07We'll continue to look at the tape and break it down, but the toughness and the togetherness
27:13you guys showed throughout the game was what got the job done, and that's a credit to
27:17everybody.
27:18The bench was great as well.
27:19It's a fine job.
27:22Great stuff.
27:23Mr. Johnson has done an incredible job so far this season, so good stuff there from the
27:28Spurs locker room.
27:29You know, lately here at Stage 11, we have been having some fun with the teleprompter.
27:35And earlier during the break, we played a little joke on our great friend, Dirk.
27:40Take a look.
27:42Want to catch up on tonight's highlights and tap into more unbelievable playoff action?
27:48Hey, that's messed up.
27:50Got him.
27:50Wow.
27:51Like Dirk said, you get the NBA app to watch tomorrow's game, starting with the Pistons
27:56versus the Cavs.
27:57The teleprompter went black on me.
27:58Okay, I'm back.
28:00You just had to let everyone know that.
28:01Read it.
28:02Wow.
28:03Hey, dirty.
28:03What is happening?
28:05Hey, man, snitching?
28:06No.
28:07Are we actually lying?
28:08It was a joke.
28:10I do have to say, though, all jokes aside, Dirk, incredible there.
28:14You didn't panic.
28:15You just were like, teleprompter or not, it was a joke.
28:17I didn't know if you would just freeze.
28:19I just had that experience two weeks ago at FIBO in the teleprompter that didn't work
28:22at the Hall of Fame thing, so I kind of.
28:24Oh.
28:25Fame.
28:26Oh.
28:27The Hall of Fame thing.
28:28Fame.
28:30Have some experience.
28:31Second time.
28:32Second time.
28:33He's grown.
28:34He's mature.
28:34But we are not going to leave Dirk all alone, because we don't do that here.
28:38Everyone is going to do a live prompter read.
28:41I'm out of here.
28:42Man, I'm out of here.
28:42We went ahead.
28:44I like it.
28:46We went ahead.
28:47We wrote some things for you guys.
28:49BG, you are up first.
28:51Where's my camera?
28:52Where's his camera?
28:53Hi.
28:54I'm Blake Griffin, but you already know my name, because I'm in every commercial, every
28:59NBA game.
29:00But did you know that I also love to golf?
29:03I do it all.
29:04They call that versatility.
29:06Yeah.
29:07Yeah, BG.
29:09Come on.
29:10Versatility instead of versatility.
29:12Good stuff.
29:12Good shenanigans.
29:13Bravo.
29:13All right.
29:15I got to say, UD is so mad that we're doing this right now.
29:19UD, you're up.
29:21Hi.
29:22Udonis Haslam here.
29:23You may not know this.
29:24You can tell me to look over here.
29:26I can look at that right there.
29:27I can look right here.
29:28This is messed up.
29:29Which camera is UD?
29:29I'm with you, UD.
29:30Start it over.
29:31Okay, I'll look at this.
29:32Start UD's over, please.
29:33Thank you.
29:33I want to look right there, but that's closer.
29:35But I'll take that one.
29:36Okay.
29:37Hi.
29:37Udonis Haslam here.
29:38You may not know this about me, but I love reading from the teleprop.
29:43What you do know is that I am a proud Florida Gator chomp chomp.
29:49Oh, and a fun fact.
29:50While I was in college, I had a pet snake named Tango.
29:53Yes, I did.
29:53How y'all know that?
29:54By the way, bravo.
29:56Bravo.
29:58I can't see that far.
29:59By the way, any story behind the pet snake being named Tango?
30:03Yeah, Tango and Cash, the movie with Sylvester Stallone.
30:06That's old school.
30:07Very nice.
30:08You had a snake.
30:09Love to hear that.
30:09Burmese python.
30:10Wow.
30:11The more you know.
30:13Steve Nash.
30:14All right, here we go.
30:15You're up.
30:16Hi.
30:16It's your boy, Steve Nash.
30:18You may know me from winning most of the nightcap competitions on this show.
30:22Did you also know that my M.T. Rushmore of German basketball players is Henning Harnisch,
30:33Patrick Femmerling, Adam Ola Okalajah, and Holger Hodgie Gershvinder.
30:42Oh my gosh, the broadcasting pros.
30:45I love that.
30:46Good inside joke.
30:46What a squad.
30:47Do I get another one?
30:49Do you want another one?
30:50Send us out.
30:51Say goodbye.
30:52That's it for us.
30:53Dirk, BG, Steve, Taylor, UD. Thank you guys for watching.
30:58We'll see you Monday, and the Thunder versus the Lakers.
31:02Good night, everybody.
31:03Good night.
31:03Good night.
31:05Thunder, Lakers.
31:06See you next week.
31:08The Thunder versus Hopkins.
31:11Oh, man.
31:12Things are going on the real.
31:14Oh, that's so great.
31:15Hey, hey, hey, hey.
31:16Hey, hey.
31:16Bis zum nächsten Mal.
