00:02For 14 years, cheap groceries have flowed in and out of this Ipswich warehouse.
00:08Now, everything must go.
00:11I think a lot of people will be, you know, really badly affected by it.
00:16And we do have a few food barns around, but this is a major one.
00:19Now everything's starting to sink in.
00:21Everything has just become real that we have to leave.
00:27To this community, Ipswich Food Barn has been more than just a place to shop.
00:31It offers free washing facilities, furniture to people fleeing domestic violence,
00:35and perhaps most importantly, a sense of community.
00:39Kim, the boss, is a treasure who cares about people.
00:45Ms Kofita says the building's owner, who runs a nearby furniture shop, is moving in, so they have to go.
00:51The owner told the ABC they can't afford to stay at the current site, which they are leasing.
00:56Ms Kofita has written to the council to see if it could provide a temporary space.
01:00But still nothing. We haven't received anything from anyone.
01:05The council says it has offered advice about finding new premises,
01:08but it could not prop up the charity without passing the financial impact onto rate payers.
01:13I think it is their responsibility, you know, more so than anybody, because we are their community.
01:19The centre will be open for its final trading day on Saturday.
01:23Let's do this journey.
01:23Let's see if we have a new place today.
01:24Yeah.
01:24Bye.
01:27Bye.
