A community centre providing vital services for a south Leeds community is to be given protected status. Cottingley Community Centre will be added to the city's list of Assets of Community Value.

00:12becoming an ACV. The centre is home to a GP surgery and free food service and is attended
00:18by around 600 people weekly. ACV status means the centre, which is owned by Cottingley Community
00:24Project, Board of Trustees, could be protected from closure if it was put up for sale. Community
00:30groups would be given six months to produce a bid to buy the centre on Cottingley approach.
00:35A council report said services including Cottingley GP surgery would be left without
00:39a base if the centre were to close.
