A new partnership has been launched to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in Leeds city centre. LeedsBID has joined forces with businesses, police and the council to start the Leeds Business Crime Reduction Partnership to address perceptions of safety and help reduce crime in the city centre.

00:00A live radio network and intelligence portal has been launched in Leeds City Centre in a bid to combat crime

00:09The Leeds Business Crime Reduction Partnership is a new member-based business partnership by Leeds BID,
00:15who have joined forces with businesses, the police and the council to address perceptions of safety and help reduce crime.
00:22It will act as the combined voice of City Centre businesses on crime and antisocial behaviour,
00:28and work with hundreds of businesses from both daytime and nighttime economies to create a wide-reaching partnership.
00:35Leeds BCRP members will get a new radio and access to the DISC Intelligence Reporting and Sharing app,
00:42along with dedicated expert training and advice on how to make their businesses and the city feel safer.
00:48Leeds BID is taking a more proactive role after commissioning independent research,
00:53which highlighted the need for improved safety in the city via more direct action on crime and antisocial behaviour,
01:00greater engagement and communication on outcomes to increase business confidence in reporting.
01:06Business feedback ranged from a perceived lack of enforcement and consequences for offenders,
01:12to the direct impact on staff and customers.
01:14Businesses confirmed a willingness to be part of a support and action network across the city.
01:19Like other town and city business crime reduction partnerships,
01:23businesses contribute to order service annually,
01:25and the rollout of new radios and training is underway.
