00:00you know going to a biggie school it's not a powerhouse golf school like a georgia or a texas
00:05but still you won nine times clearly uh can win uh at the collegiate level but who who was the
00:12first person to reach out and say hey i think this guy can make it to the next level yeah
00:17so
00:18this this is cleveland at the time but you know strixon i i was buying clubs and like
00:24whatever club i bought i would use it was like not like oh this isn't spinning right i mean let
00:28me get another one it was like i'm just gonna figure it out right i better fade it and make
00:32it spin more like you know and um i remember this one time i was i finally got an invite
00:38to
00:38the northeast amateur which is like you know for us growing up in new england's the masters of
00:43amateur golf basically they never would invite me and i had been trying to get a driver from
00:47a certain company for years like like i'm used in i'm walking i see the guy that i'm texting to
00:54get
00:54a driver and he's got a handful of drivers for this one player and i was just like i was
00:59so upset
01:00i was so bummed out because another part of my story is i i never felt like i was getting
01:05the
01:05respect that it puts into the it kind of fuels the fire but mike dumpy man my sophomore year
01:13i he me and my my teammate george the lotus and he like sent george a hybrid something and i
01:21was like
01:21geez i wonder if he'd send me clubs again i had done pretty well but like we're not getting free
01:26stuff yeah and i texted my dumpy sent me a whole set of clubs and like talked to me and
01:32like got me
01:33got me uh fitted right like again like what are you what are you looking for in a golf club
01:39i'm like
01:40i don't care like anything free i'm gonna use would you want to use the golf ball like yeah free
01:44of
01:44course yeah and it was a big turning point in my career honestly because i was able to get better
01:52equipment in equipment that fit me better and you know it was really important and to be honest with
01:59you it really helped i felt like someone was taking me seriously and somebody was like i see potential in
02:05this person and you know dump my dumpy meant so much to me my second masters i had caddy for
02:12me in part
02:12three that's like a thank you for all he had done for me and i've been with him i i'm
02:17gonna be with
02:18him over 20 years or maybe i am now i've been with him since i'm 19 and i'm 39 now
02:23so um you know
02:25something that i'm really proud of it i'm really grateful that they that they took that they did this
02:29for me because nobody was at the time and back then people were getting clubs easily and stuff all the
02:36time um i'm forever grateful for mike dumpy and srixon cleveland they've been incredible to me
02:41you know he grew up just a hole and a half away from me mike dumpy and he was he's
02:45been giving me
02:46cleveland wedges since i was uh 10 years old but i i still remember in college or i should say
02:51high
02:51school because you i guess you turned pro uh was it 2011 is when you turned pro is that about
02:56right
02:56in the tour on the i got on the tour in 2011 yeah and so you turned pro you were
03:01there to oh a graduate
03:02yeah i graduated st john's in 08 term pro played the mini tours for a year yeah yes i was
03:08in high
03:08school and i i remember mike coming up and saying just watch out for this keegan bradley kid i just
03:13got a feeling about this guy he's just so he's from up from the northeast he's won nine times and
03:19guess
03:19what nobody else cares about this guy and he's gonna be a major winner you watch and like that's
03:25like when he believes in somebody like that like that's that's mike and it's so good don't just sit
03:31like i'm you know i'm all i i i try to stay after the rider cup i've tried to stay
03:37off social media
03:38really and not look around and not read articles because if i read a bad article i go into like
03:42a
03:42depression because it's like so fresh and dumpy every now and then he'll send me an article about
03:48some commentator he just sent me one about some uh about some uh writer that's retiring and said
03:54something horrible about me and i'm like well what did he say like i didn't i didn't click on the
03:59link
03:59but he's still sending me this stuff to get me fired up i love it i'm trying not to see
04:04it but he
04:05said it to me it's the best oh man there's nobody that you want in your corner more than that

04:09right no he's he's he's somebody you want your corner and he's a wild man i i just love him

04:16he he's if you if you put together like the most important figures of my career
04:21he would be on the list yeah like if you put together a mount rush more of like people who
04:26helped me
04:26um get to where i am he would be on he would be on the list for sure
