00:01Israel struck Beirut on Wednesday, the first time it had done so since a ceasefire in Lebanon took
00:07effect last month. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the military had
00:12targeted a commander of Hezbollah's Radban force. A source close to the militant group later told
00:19press agency AFP that an operations commander of the force had been killed in the strike.
00:25According to an anonymous Lebanese security source,
00:28Radban leaders had been holding a meeting in the apartment building that was struck.
00:34The ceasefire in Lebanon went into effect on the 17th of April, but this attack risks putting
00:40further pressure on achieving a permanent deal between Lebanon and Israel. Israel has not been
00:46fighting with Lebanon itself, but rather with Iran-backed Hezbollah group inside the country,
00:51who were not formally part of the agreement. While the last Israeli strike on the Lebanese
00:57capital was early in April, Israel has continued bombing southern Lebanon since the ceasefire
01:02went into effect.
