00:00The World Judo Tour returned to Astana for this year's edition of the Kazakhstan Barisi Grand Slam.
00:05The arena was filled with spectators, ready to see what was sure to be an exciting day of judo.
00:10In attendance was Republic of Kazakhstan President, His Excellency Mr. Kasim Yomar Tokayev,
00:16alongside International Judo Federation President Mr. Marius Vizor.
00:20In the under 60kg category, Kazakhstan's Talgat Orsin Basar took on Sukhbat Bayambasuran of Mongolia,
00:26competing in the final of his home tournament for the second year running,
00:30he settled for silver again, as Bayambasuran claimed his first Grand Slam gold.
00:37He was awarded his medal by CEO of Sovereign Wealth Fund Sumruk Kasnya, Mr. Nerlan Zhakupov.
00:46It wasn't really a problem for me to fight against the home country.
00:49I just wanted to show my judo, and I'm happy that I did that.
00:55The under 48kg final saw an in-form Amber Hershiers up against Naransetsek Ganbatar.
01:02A yuko was enough to give Hershiers a first Grand Slam gold medal.
01:07Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Yerbol Mirzabosinov,
01:12was on hand to award the medals.
01:13I've been working on being more patient,
01:17and then after last week I got definitely a little boost of confidence.
01:20I was like, okay, this week it's going to be mine, so I just need to get it.
01:24And I did, so.
01:25The under 52kg final saw Blandine Pont compete against Khodoloy Bishrelt.
01:30A very close-fought contest saw Pont score a yuko and claim gold.
01:35Mr. Nasser Altamimi, General Treasurer of the International Judo Federation, awarded the gold.
01:40A scintillating under 66kg final saw Saigid Kerimov fighting Abdurakim Nutfoloyev.
01:47The Uzbek used an unusual kategoruma technique to score the only yuko and take home the gold medal.
01:55Taking some time to celebrate with his fans,
01:57before accepting his medal from CEO of Harvest Group, Mr. Almaz Alsinov.
02:07With the crowd still in full voice,
02:10the under 57kg final saw an all-French encounter,
02:13as Faisa Mokhtar took on Chloe de Victor.
02:17Mokhtar took full control of the contest,
02:19and after scoring early on,
02:21she pinned her compatriot,
02:22and giving her no way out,
02:24claimed the gold medal.
02:29She was awarded the gold medal by chairman and group CEO of MET Group,
02:33Mr. Benjamin Lakatos.
02:37There were some great moments of action from the home team,
02:40showing the consistency of Kazakh judo on the world stage,
02:43and giving the passionate crowd plenty to celebrate,
02:45ending the first day with two medals.
