Sports journalist Andrew Moir talks us through the O&M this weekend
Transcript
00:00Hello it's Andrew Moyer and are we heading for our closest round since COVID-19. Now there's been
00:06only four completed seasons since with round 11 2023 having an average winning margin of only
00:1216.8 points per game. Now of course that was the season Cora where Rutherglen was forced out
00:18so there were only four games per round. In a five round season where the season has five games
00:24the average winning margin was 25.4 points in round 14 2022. Let's look at Saturday's round
00:32Wodonga against Aubrey. Now it's been well documented Aubrey is celebrating their 150th
00:38anniversary but they are one and three so if they fall to Wodonga they then face the dual
00:44premiers Wengaretta Rovers. They would need a massive upset there so they could well be one
00:49and five and that is season over. So for no other reason surely Aubrey's desperation should
00:54guarantee a two to three goal game. Now we've also got Wengaretta against Myrtleford that's
00:59a grand finalist against the undefeated Myrtleford. That's screen single figure margin. North Aubrey
01:06and Wodonga Raiders are winless, won't play finals so this is their early season grand final.
01:11Corowa Rutherglen and Yarrawonga are two wins apiece. Now a few weeks ago you would have said
01:16Yarrawonga but just for the second successive season they've got a stack of injuries and the
01:21Roos are getting stronger with players back and Wengaretta Rovers will start favourites against
01:26Levington but the Panthers have lost their last two games so they'll also be desperate and Adam
01:31Schneider is such a good coach tactically they should be able to curb most of Rovers' tricks.
01:36Forecast looks good, let's see how many are thrillers.
