00:00From Hollywood, it's Jimmy Kimmel Live!
00:04Tonight, Marco Robbie and Gaya Abdul-Mateen II
00:09with the Klee Tones!
00:12And now, Jimmy Kimmel Live!
00:39For the last 23 years, tonight is our 23rd anniversary.
00:43We went on the air 23 years ago tonight.
00:46You weren't with us yet, Guillermo.
00:48No, I was in the parking lot.
00:50Yeah, I was not here.
00:51But we will still make love to celebrate tonight.
00:54The same, yeah, yeah, let's do it.
00:55It was a very different time back then, 23 years ago.
00:58It was better. It was a better time.
00:59I spent the weekend, like probably a lot of you did,
01:02looking at my phone and just feeling shocked and sick
01:04about what is happening in Minneapolis.
01:07These, one video after another,
01:09screaming people being torn from their families,
01:12Americans, people who were born in the United States
01:14being pulled out of their cars
01:15for the crime of having an accent or whatever, children.
01:19Small children, babies being tear-gassed,
01:23taken into custody, separated from their parents.
01:25Just one atrocity after another being committed
01:28by this gang of poorly trained,
01:31shamefully led, mask-wearing goons.
01:33And that is what they are.
01:34They're goons committing vile, heartless,
01:37and even criminal acts.
01:38And it's sickening to watch.
01:40And it's frustrating to watch.
01:41It's like we're all being forced to play a game
01:43that has no rules.
01:44They just make up the rules as they go along.
01:47We see these videos in which we clearly see
01:50one of our fellow Americans executed by ICE.
01:53And they won't even admit that it was a mistake.
01:56They, I mean, they say that the Honda SUV
01:58Rene Good was driving was weaponized.
02:00They say the gun Alex Preddy had a license to carry
02:03in an open carry state.
02:04All right, many of these same people
02:06screamed very loudly about when it was
02:08Kyle Rittenhouse carrying the gun.
02:10A gun that Alex Preddy did not even draw,
02:12did not touch.
02:13A gun that was taken from him by one of the agents
02:15before he was shot dead by the other ones.
02:18They fired 10 times on an ICU nurse.
02:20They're telling us, well, I was justified, you know?
02:23Is that the law and order that you voted for
02:26if you voted for this?
02:28Every day is a nightmare now.
02:30My wife and I have family in Minneapolis
02:32that are afraid to take their kids to school.
02:34They're afraid to go to work.
02:35And I can only imagine how people
02:37who aren't white feel about this.
02:39How does this end?
02:40What's the plan here?
02:42Is the plan to just keep doing this
02:44in every city that didn't vote for Donald Trump?
02:47Does anyone on any side believe this is good?
02:50Leadership?
02:51We keep saying we need to find subjects
02:53that we can agree on.
02:55Can we agree that peaceful protesters,
02:58including moms driving SUVs on their way back
03:01after dropping their six-year-old off at school
03:03and a nurse who stepped in to protect a woman from harm,
03:07don't deserve to be shot dead in the street
03:09by the people we are paying to protect us?
03:12Can we agree on that?
03:14I mean, can we agree that when we see a person
03:22murdered in cold blood, that there should at least
03:24be an investigation of that?
03:26And that our head of, ironically titled,
03:31head of Homeland Security has the responsibility
03:33to get facts before telling us that what we saw,
03:37we did not see.
03:38I mean, if we can't agree on that, forget it then.
03:40Man, this one seems pretty open and shut to me.
03:42I think we can agree on this one.
03:44It's on video.
03:45Look at it.
03:46Do your own research.
03:48And then once you do, once you form your own opinion
03:52without being told what you saw, say something.
03:55Where are the reasonable voices on the right?
03:57I mean, we don't have to agree on everything, but come on.
04:01If that was a group of trans swimmers shooting a guy
04:06for making a cell phone video,
04:08you'd be heating up the electric chairs right now.
04:11Admit it, you would.
04:12Let's cut the bulls**t already,
04:13because this, it may be Fox, but it ain't news.
04:17Agents reasonably thought that they were in danger
04:20because a gun was produced.
04:22If he's armed and they knew he was armed,
04:24it was imperative for them to take him down.
04:27And now here, literally a guy pulls a gun
04:30on an ICE officer.
04:31He defends himself.
04:32When you are seeing a gun in your face
04:34and you're in the shuffle,
04:36then you have to, again, assume that is a gun.
04:39And you could tell in that moment
04:40that they saw something or something spooked them
04:43because they all back off all of a sudden,
04:45and then you hear shots fired.
04:47You've got an armed individual, you know,
04:50somebody holding a gun up to Border Patrol.
04:52Of course you are going to see a reaction.
04:54Do you think these are all just local Minneapolis folks
04:57who have decided to go out on a sub-zero day?
05:01Only one person could have prevented this from happening,
05:03and it's Alex Preddy.
05:04What he did put agents in a situation
05:06where they had to use deadly force.
05:08These officers very well could have prevented
05:10a major mass shooting of multiple officers today.
05:14Oh, please.
05:15If that was ISIS instead of ICE,
05:18we'd be firing missiles at somebody
05:20and pledging allegiance to the flag altogether right now.
05:23Watch that video.
05:24Watch every angle, as upsetting as it might be,
05:26and decide for yourself if that's making America great.
05:29And if it isn't, please say something about it.
05:32This has to stop.
05:33And I'm convinced now that the only people
05:36who can stop it are on the right.
05:37I know it takes a lot of courage
05:39to go against your tribe or whatever it is,
05:41but that's what we need.
05:43We need some decent people on the right
05:45to show some courage and some common sense.
05:47And if our leaders aren't even trying
05:49to reduce the amount of chaos in the street
05:52rather than exacerbating it,
05:54if our leaders are intentionally creating
05:55and encouraging violence and fear,
05:58then I hope you will also agree we need new leaders
06:02because these are not leaders.
06:11And to the people of Minneapolis,
06:13to the pretty family and the good family,
06:16and these people who were looking out
06:19for their neighbors,
06:21we want you to know that we are with you
06:23and you are not alone.
06:32And I'll tell you another thing.
06:34We also want to see those Epstein files already.
06:41I don't believe Trump has a plan of any kind
06:44when he does this stuff,
06:45but I think the scoundrels who work for him do.
06:47Our esteemed Attorney General Pam Bondi,
06:50who runs the Justice Department,
06:51sent a letter to the governor of Minnesota,
06:53Tim Walz, asking for, among other things,
06:57all of Minnesota's voter rolls
06:59in exchange for de-escalation from mice.
07:02She sent him a cease and desist
07:04to be a democracy letter,
07:07which Governor Walz, to his credit, flatly denied.
07:10Look, I think everybody understands
07:12what the last request was,
07:14totally unrelated to anything on the voter files.
07:16This is, again, as the Attorney General said,
07:18Donald Trump telling everybody
07:19that the election was rigged
07:21who started all this nightmare for America
07:24has nothing to do with it.
07:25And I just,
07:27I would just give a pro tip to the Attorney General.
07:29There's two million documents
07:31in the Epstein files we're still waiting on.
07:33Go ahead and work on those.
07:35Yeah.
07:36It's called the Minnesota mic drop right there.
07:40He's going balls to the walls.
07:42You know, that should be the response
07:44to any question on any topic
07:46involving Pam Bondi or Donald Trump.
07:48Where are those Epstein files already?
07:50Tim Walz and President Trump spoke on the phone today.
07:53Trump said they had a very good call,
07:55which I think for Trump means
07:56he didn't call him the R word during the call.
07:58That's progress.
07:59The fact that Trump even got on the phone with Tim Walz
08:01shows you he knows he's made a mess here.
08:04He's also sending somebody in
08:06to replace his number one ice hole in Minneapolis,
08:09the head of the Border Patrol, Greg Bovino,
08:12who, this is Greg Bovino's high school yearbook.
08:15And this is what would happen
08:16if the Proud Boys recruited McLovin.
08:18This is what he would turn into.
08:20That year, Greg and a cantaloupe with a hole in it
08:22were named cutest couple.
08:24He was voted most likely to be hospitalized
08:27with a light bulb in his ass.
08:29So Bovino is reportedly being either demoted
08:33or removed from Minneapolis
08:35to go terrorize other cities,
08:37which I'm sure has nothing at all to do
08:39with this insane statement he made on CNN.
08:42With respect, it feels as though
08:44in some ways you're blaming the victim here.
08:48The victim, the victims are the Border Patrol agents.
08:50I'm not blaming the Border Patrol agents.
08:52The victim are the Border Patrol agents.
08:54The suspect put himself in that situation.
08:57The victims are the Border Patrol agents there.
09:00The victims are the Border Patrol agents,
09:02not the people who are dead.
09:04It seems like maybe even Trump's had enough
09:06of Greg and his cross-body bag,
09:08because this morning he wrote,
09:10I am sending Tom Homan to Minnesota tonight.
09:12He has not been involved in that area,
09:14but knows and likes many of the people there.
09:16Tom is tough but fair and will report directly to me.
09:19Oh, good, that will help.
09:20This is Tom Homan, if you're not familiar.
09:23This is, you know the saying,
09:24he's not as dumb as he looks?
09:25He is just as dumb.
09:26It was widely reported that the FBI
09:30caught Tom Homan on tape in September of 2024,
09:35accepting $50,000 in cash in a fast food bag
09:39from undercover agents posing as private contractors
09:43in exchange for a promise to help them score
09:45border enforcement contracts in the new Trump administration.
09:48And this is the guy they're sending to Minnesota
09:51to fix things, to help round up the criminals there.
09:54In the Trump administration, taking a bag full of cash
09:57gets you promoted.
09:58It doesn't get you in jail.
09:59The Senate is expected, by the way,
10:01to vote on funding for the Department of Homeland Security
10:04as soon as tomorrow.
10:05And if they can't reach a deal on Friday,
10:07we could have another government shutdown on our hands.
10:10Things are running like a Swiss watch.
10:12It's just excellent.
10:13The good news is, all the death and sadness and horror
10:16didn't stop the president from posting
10:18and boasting about his new $400 million ballroom.
10:21He wrote,
10:21I'm building, on top of everything else that I'm doing,
10:24one of the greatest and most beautiful ballrooms
10:26anywhere in the world.
10:28That's so cool.
10:29Maybe you should stop doing everything else you're doing
10:32and spend all of your time focusing on that.
10:35I think we'd be okay with it.
10:38On Friday,
10:40we also shared designs for what he's calling
10:43the Independence Arch.
10:45He wants to build near the Lincoln Memorial
10:47on the National Mall.
10:48You can see the renderings here.
10:49They are arranged in order from most to least
10:52like something on the lawn at Liberace's house.
10:55But I guess he's going to choose...
10:57I like that he's pretending he might not choose
10:59the one covered in gold.
11:01We're less than a month into the new year.
11:03So far, this administration has managed to
11:05start a war in Minnesota,
11:07invade Venezuela,
11:09threaten to invade Greenland,
11:10pull us out of the World Health Organization,
11:12attack our own Federal Reserve,
11:14abandon vaccine science,
11:16bring back measles,
11:16send health care premiums through the roof,
11:18and kill two U.S. citizens in cold blood.
11:21And he still thinks he got cheated
11:22out of a Nobel Peace Prize.
11:24I mean, if that delusion doesn't trigger
11:27the 25th Amendment,
11:28what possibly will?
11:30I mean, remember...
11:33I'm old enough to remember a time
11:36when we thought Sarah Palin was crazy, okay?
11:40On Saturday night,
11:41as the nation was mourning
11:43the tragic events in Minneapolis,
11:45the Trumps hosted a special screening
11:47of the new Melania movie at the White House.
11:49It was attended by Donald, Melania,
11:52Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple,
11:54Tony Robbins, and Mike Tyson.
11:56I sure hope they had some cameras rolling
11:58when Melania made small talk with Mike Tyson,
12:01because that is the documentary
12:03I would like to see.
12:04The film was a $75 million gift
12:07to the Trumps from Amazon,
12:08and the president was very grateful.
12:09He said, without this documentary,
12:11he'd know nothing about his wife.
12:14What's the name of the country she's from?
12:17Melania, it doesn't open until Friday,
12:19but we did get a sneak peek
12:20at the opening sequence,
12:22specifically the logo that appears
12:24at the top of the film.
12:33Ah! Ah!
12:40She is a lucky lady.
12:42A warm lady and a fortunate woman.
12:47Speaking of warmth,
12:48we're sending warm wishes
12:49to those of you who are under
12:50a winter storm warning.
12:51The Weather Channel has dubbed this
12:53Winter Storm Fern.
12:55Over the weekend,
12:56more than a million Americans lost power,
12:58and that is when it is
13:00the Amish's time to shine.
13:01This is an Amish buggy driver
13:04in Tennessee doing, uh,
13:07the Devil's Donuts, I think.
13:11It's like Talladega Mennonites there.
13:14Probably some Amish teenager
13:15all hopped up on apple pie or something,
13:17but the real shame is
13:19he'll never see that.
13:20He will never get to see it.
13:23You know, the Department of Homeland Security
13:24reportedly asked staffers at FEMA
13:27to refrain from using the word ice
13:30in their descriptions
13:31of the winter storm
13:31because they're worried
13:32it might lead to some kind of meme
13:34linking the danger of the storm
13:36to the danger of the ice agents
13:38storming our streets.
13:39You know your federal agency
13:41is doing well
13:41when they're concerned
13:42that mentioning its name
13:44could damage winter's reputation.
13:46But this is,
13:47this is from the CBS affiliate
13:49in Oklahoma City
13:49where meteorologist Lacey Swope
13:52had to issue a stern warning
13:54about Fern.
13:55This is how much we've seen so far.
13:57Now some of this is radar estimates
13:58and then just your reports
13:59that you've been sending in.
14:00Keep those coming.
14:01I made the mistake on Facebook.
14:03I asked for your measurements.
14:05I meant your snow measurements.
14:06Thank you for everybody
14:07sending in your measurements,
14:08but I do prefer how much snow
14:09you have on the ground.
14:10That's right.
14:11Keep it in your parkas, you perverts.
14:13Any chance you get people
14:15to be gross, they will take it.
14:16It was a brutal weekend weather-wise.
14:19Capped off with the terrible news
14:21that the Patriots are back
14:22in the Super Bowl,
14:23which could mean another
14:24Matt Damon Duncan commercial.
14:26The matchup for Super Bowl 60
14:29is said it's New England
14:30versus Seattle.
14:31The last time the Patriots
14:32were in the Super Bowl
14:33was 2019,
14:35back when their coach at the time,
14:37Bill Belichick's girlfriend,
14:38was in kindergarten.
14:39So it's been some time.
14:41Patriots got some help from the snow
14:42to stall the Broncos up in Denver.
14:45It was a challenging day
14:45for Patriots quarterback Drake May.
14:47The fans went into the game
14:49with high hopes some of them
14:50were even announcing
14:52that they are gay for May.
14:54Gay for May!
14:55You know what?
14:56Gay for May!
14:57As a gay man,
14:59I also am gay for May.
15:01With that,
15:02it's going to do it for us
15:03live here in Denver, Colorado.
15:05I hope he signs off
15:06his reports like that forever,
15:08like all of them.
15:09I also am gay for May.
15:10That's it for us.
15:11Here in Denver,
15:12back to you, Lisa.
15:14Why should hockey
15:15get all the gay fun, right?
15:17The president said
15:18over the weekend
15:19that he will not attend
15:20the Super Bowl this year.
15:21He only roots for Patriots
15:22when they're storming the Capitol.
15:24He will stay at home.
15:25You know, back in October,
15:26Kristi Noem said
15:27ICE agents would be
15:28all over the Super Bowl
15:29because Bad Bunny's
15:31going to be there,
15:31which is part of
15:33the Trump administration plan
15:34to ruin everything we enjoy.
15:36Kristi Noem has also
15:37been busy gaslighting us
15:39when it came to
15:40the death of Alex Preddy.
15:41She even took shots
15:43at licensed gun owners,
15:44which did not go over
15:46bigly with her friends
15:47at the NRA.
15:48This individual showed up
15:50to impede a law enforcement
15:51operation and assaulted
15:53our officers.
15:54They responded
15:54according to their training
15:56and took action
15:57to defend the officer's life
15:59and those of the public
16:01around him.
16:02And I don't know
16:03of any peaceful protester
16:05that shows up
16:06with a gun and ammunition
16:08rather than a sign.
16:10Really?
16:10You don't?
16:11What about these guys
16:12or these people
16:13or this cowboy
16:15or these cosplayers
16:17or this LARPy gentleman
16:19or in his Tommy Bahama
16:21combat wearer?
16:23Those guys,
16:24for those licensed gun owners,
16:26it's okay.
16:26For the ones
16:27that you don't agree with,
16:29it's not.
16:29These kooks would shoot
16:30Mary Poppins out of the air
16:31and call her a UFO.
16:33Kristi Noem is telling us
16:34to accept that
16:35what we are seeing
16:36with our eyes
16:37isn't real.
16:38And I understand why.
16:39Her nose, face, teeth, eyes
16:41and lips aren't real.
16:43But rather than that,
16:44I want to leave you with this.
16:45The man Stephen Miller
16:46referred to as
16:46a would-be assassin,
16:47Alex Preddy,
16:48was an ICU nurse
16:53who treated veterans,
16:55which is about
16:57as patriotic, I think,
16:59as it gets.
16:59And the video of Alex
17:01that I would like you to see,
17:02maybe you've seen,
17:03of this man they called
17:04a domestic terrorist,
17:05is from 2024,
17:07in which Alex honored
17:09one of his patients
17:10who passed away,
17:11a veteran named
17:12Terrence Lee Randolph.
17:14Terrence Lee Randolph,
17:16March 30th, 1947,
17:18December 10th, 2024.
17:21Today we remember
17:22that freedom is not free.
17:23We have to work at it,
17:25nurture it, protect it,
17:26and even sacrifice for it.
17:28May we never forget
17:29and always remember
17:30our brothers and sisters
17:32who have served
17:32so that we may enjoy
17:34the gift of freedom.
17:35So in this moment,
17:36we remember and give thanks
17:38for their dedication
17:38and selfless service
17:40to our nation
17:40in the cause of our freedom.
17:42In this solemn hour,
17:44we rend them our honor
17:45and our gratitude.
17:47Alex Preddy,
17:48may he rest in peace.
17:49We'll be back
17:50with Margot Robbie.
18:04Thank you, Art.
18:06The newest hero
18:07in the Marvel TV universe,
18:09his new show
18:09is called Wonder Man.

18:49Yeah, I'm happy
18:50and very excited.
18:50Are you?
18:51Yes.
18:52Okay.
18:52Our first guest tonight
18:54is a three-time Oscar nominee
18:56and one-time Barbie
18:57who stars in a big-screen adaptation
18:59of the classic novel
19:01so many of us
19:02pretended to read
19:03in high school.
19:04Wuthering Heights
19:04opens in theaters
19:05February 13th.
19:06Please welcome
19:07Margot Robbie.
19:22How are you?
19:23I'm good.
19:24I'm good.
19:25Good to see you.
19:26Thanks for having me back.
19:27You look great.
19:28You smell great.
19:28All of those things.
19:29You're not dressed
19:30for the winter storm.
19:31I'm guessing you're not
19:32headed to the east coast,
19:33are you?
19:34No, I've dressed
19:34for the sunny L.A. weather.
19:36Yeah.
19:36Do you ever,
19:37have you ever,
19:37like, you don't have
19:39snowstorms in Australia.
19:40We don't have a lot of snow.
19:40But we do have snow
19:42in Australia,
19:42just not lots of it.
19:43So, no, no snow.
19:45My association
19:46with a snow day
19:47is just what I've seen
19:48in American movies.
19:50You never got a snow?
19:50It always looked really fun.
19:51I would love
19:52to have had a snow day.
19:52Snow days are the best thing.
19:54Yeah, so they really are good.
19:55Yeah.
19:56Oh, they're the greatest.
19:57I mean, for parents,
19:58they're an absolute nightmare.
19:59Nightmare, yeah.
20:00Because you're stuck
20:01in the house with the kids
20:02when you didn't think
20:03you were going to be.
20:04Yeah, but when you're a kid,
20:05it's the best.
20:06Yeah, you never had one.
20:08Well, we didn't have that,
20:09but I guess our equivalent,
20:10we had, like,
20:11if the weather,
20:12if it got too hot,
20:13you were allowed to go home
20:14where I'm from.
20:15So you had sun days, huh?
20:16Like, yeah,
20:17like, if it was,
20:18I remember it was 45 Celsius,
20:21so whatever that is.
20:22So 45 degrees,
20:23if it hit 45 degrees.
20:24That's 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit,
20:25Yeah, you were allowed
20:26to go home.
20:27And I remember one summer,
20:28it kept hitting 45,
20:30so they changed it to 50.
20:31They did.
20:32Yeah, which is,
20:32like, 120-something degrees.
20:34So, yeah, like...
20:35Would you and the other kids
20:36be gathered around
20:36the thermometer,
20:37just waiting?
20:38Yeah, yeah,
20:38be like,
20:39can we go?
20:39We're just melting.
20:40We're dying.
20:41Let us go home.
20:42That is fun, yeah.
20:43Oh, I want to ask you,
20:44that Barbie movie,
20:45did that ever come out?
20:46Yeah.
20:47That one you were working on?
20:48Yeah, it did.
20:49It was weird you missed it.
20:50And people saw it.
20:51I thought I saw it.
20:52Yeah.
20:53Yeah.
20:53Do you,
20:54have you experienced a shift
20:56in your fan base
20:57since that film?
20:59Yes, very much so.
21:00And it's been very sweet,
21:01actually, because,
21:02you know,
21:02my first American movie
21:03was The Wolf of Wall Street.
21:05And the...
21:06Right.
21:06Yeah, right.
21:08But I'd say the people
21:10that would come up to me
21:11after that were,
21:12you know,
21:12a very different demographic.
21:14Yeah.
21:14A lot of, you know,
21:16older dudes would come up.
21:18And now I have,
21:19like, little kids
21:21coming up and saying,
21:22like, there's Barbie
21:22and it's so sweet.
21:23It seems much better.
21:24It's much...
21:25I like this better.
21:27But I, uh,
21:27it's confusing.
21:28A lot of my kids,
21:29sorry,
21:29a lot of my friends
21:30have kids
21:31and it's now,
21:32they're at an age
21:32where they're watching
21:33the Barbie movie
21:34and they're like,
21:34Auntie Maggie, wait,
21:35what?
21:36I think they're getting
21:36confused by the...
21:37Do you explain it to them
21:38or you let them
21:38just go with it?
21:39No, you don't want
21:40to explain that
21:41to them,
21:41yeah, right.
21:42Then they're going
21:42to ask about God
21:43and death
21:44and I'm not kidding.
21:45I'm not starting.
21:46And Wuthering Heights,
21:47now you'll have
21:47another group of fans
21:49in a way.
21:50Yeah, yeah.
21:50Comes out, uh,
21:51have you seen this movie
21:52with an audience yet
21:53in a theater?
21:54I, well, I,
21:56I'm a producer
21:56on the film
21:57so I've seen,
21:58I've seen the film
21:59a lot of times
21:59but I saw it
22:02with sort of
22:03an audience
22:04earlier,
22:05no, last week.
22:06Last week,
22:06my friends,
22:08who are amazing,
22:09threw a bachelorette
22:10for Kathy.
22:11Kathy's the character
22:12I play
22:13and I kind of thought
22:14it was a joke
22:14at first.
22:15They were like,
22:15Kathy's batch,
22:16Kathy's batch
22:16and I was like,
22:17wait,
22:17are we really
22:17going to have
22:18a fake bachelorette
22:20for an imaginary
22:20character?
22:21And they were like,
22:22yes, absolutely.
22:23So I thought,
22:23oh, that's a great idea.
22:25I know,
22:25it was very, very,
22:26because you could do
22:27anything you want
22:28and just say,
22:29it was Kathy.
22:29It was, yeah, yeah, yeah.
22:32I should have used it.
22:34Next time.
22:35Next time.
22:36Next time I have
22:36an imaginary bachelorette.
22:37So what happens
22:37at Kathy's bachelor party?
22:39I mean,
22:39there's girl code
22:40so I really can't tell you much
22:41but what I will say
22:42is I thought,
22:42oh, I'll screen the movie
22:43at the start
22:44of The Bachelor.
22:44I'll screen it
22:45for the girls
22:46and they'll love it
22:47and it was
22:49the most unhinged
22:50experience
22:52of my life.
22:53I mean,
22:53first of all,
22:53it was the funnest
22:54Wednesday night
22:55I've ever had
22:55in my life.
22:56It ended up being
22:57like the craziest
22:58night ever
22:59but the screening itself,
23:02I mean,
23:03just to put this
23:04into context,
23:05it's like 20 women
23:07were like frothing
23:08at the mouth.
23:09They were like
23:10rabid dogs.
23:11They were a couple
23:12of drinks in already
23:13and then the movie
23:14started
23:15and I was like,
23:16they were screaming
23:17so much.
23:18I was like,
23:19they're not going to
23:20actually,
23:20they're missing
23:21most of the movie
23:21but it wasn't really
23:23watching a movie.
23:23It was like a call
23:24and response
23:25sort of situation.
23:26There was like
23:26constant commentary
23:27and screaming
23:28throughout
23:29and sobbing
23:30and parts as well.
23:30And were you in your,
23:32like,
23:32well,
23:32you know,
23:33were you in,
23:33were you?
23:34Oh,
23:34I was dressed,
23:35oh yes,
23:35no,
23:35there was a mood board.
23:36I was dressed
23:37in white,
23:38like corsets
23:39and lace
23:40and they were all
23:40dressed like mob wives
23:41in black lace
23:42and corsets
23:42and the theme,
23:44I think it was
23:45Victorian slutty.
23:47Oh.
23:49Without what you will.
23:52So everyone's wearing
23:54like lace
23:54and corsets
23:55and veils
23:55and drunk
23:57and screaming
23:58at the screen
23:59and like,
23:59Jacob came on screen
24:00and they just like,
24:01I think it registered
24:02on the Richter scale
24:02and it screamed so bad.
24:03It was for Jacob,
24:04right?
24:04It was,
24:05honestly,
24:05I was like,
24:06if he walked in right now,
24:07I think they would eat him.
24:09It was safer
24:10that he's not here.
24:11Was this back home?
24:13No,
24:13this was here in L.A.
24:14This was just a few nights ago.
24:15Oh, okay.
24:16Yeah.
24:16Oh, all right.
24:17So this wasn't a group,
24:18because I've noticed
24:19in my travels
24:21that Australian people.
24:22Well,
24:22a lot of them were Aussies,
24:23if that helps explain.
24:24Okay,
24:25all right,
24:25yeah.
24:26They see,
24:26you know,
24:26there's one like,
24:27person at the party
24:28who's the craziest,
24:29like,
24:30drunkest,
24:30like,
24:31like,
24:31person that stays up
24:32till 5 a.m.
24:33and can't understand
24:34that you want to go to bed.
24:35Yeah.
24:36All Australian people
24:37are that same person.
24:38I was about to say,
24:39yeah,
24:39very much the case.
24:41I'd say that was the majority
24:42of the group
24:43was like that,
24:44yeah.
24:44And maybe the most fun people
24:46in the whole world
24:47as a result of that.
24:48I'd like to think so.
24:48I personally feel like that.
24:49So you had a bunch of them there,
24:51and they were going bananas.
24:52Absolutely.
24:53Drinking in the theater.
24:54Have you drunk,
24:55had you?
24:55Well,
24:55it wasn't a,
24:55it was,
24:56it was this,
24:57this place called Bird Streets,
24:58and we were,
24:59we had like a private room
25:00downstairs,
25:00and they had a screen,
25:01and so thank God
25:02we were not amongst the public
25:03because again,
25:04it was,
25:04there was nothing appropriate
25:06about this,
25:07this night at all.
25:09Particularly not the commentary
25:10throughout the film.
25:11So it was safer
25:11that we were very much separated.
25:13And best for Jacob
25:14that he wasn't there.
25:16Very much a safe thing,
25:17Was there one friend
25:17in particular
25:18who,
25:18who was,
25:20Like the most drunk?
25:21Shown most brightly?
25:23There was,
25:24do you know what?
25:25We played a drinking game
25:26throughout the film.
25:27Everyone picked a word
25:28out of a hat,
25:29and you had to drink
25:31when that word
25:31was said in the movie.
25:33And my friend
25:33who got the word Kathy,
25:35he says Kathy
25:36like a thousand times
25:38in this film.
25:39Like every three minutes,
25:40Jacob's like,
25:41Kathy,
25:41Kathy,
25:42Kathy,
25:42Kathy!
25:43And then there's a lot
25:44of Heathcliff's too,
25:45but there's a lot of Kathy's.
25:47So my friend Phoebe
25:48picked Kathy.
25:49Phoebe got Kathy'd.
25:50Yeah,
25:50she got Kathy'd.
25:51We're going to take a break
25:52and we're going to see
25:53a clip from the film.
25:54Maybe we'll even hear
25:54the word Kathy
25:55and have a drink.
25:56Margot Robbie is here.
25:57And we'll be right back.
26:03Portions of Jimmy Come Alive
26:04are brought to you
26:05by non-chim Shin Ramya.
26:07Spicy happiness in noodles.
26:11Perhaps that is why
26:12they have not come.
26:14They may be intimidated
26:16poor things.
26:18Yes, I'm sure that's it.
26:20I'm so bored
26:21I might die.
26:22I have had enough
26:24of hearing about
26:25Mr. Linton.
26:28Heathcliff,
26:28I cannot get down
26:30in these skirts.
26:31Well, then you'll have
26:32to take them off.
26:35You will be so very sorry
26:37when I fall out
26:38of this tree
26:39and die!
26:41And you made her sorry.
26:42It's Margot Robbie
26:44and Jacob Velorti
26:45in Wuthering Heights
26:46which opens again
26:47it's February 13th.
26:49Jacob's going to be here
26:49tomorrow.
26:50I know.
26:51That's so exciting.
26:51He's a big fellow.
26:52Yeah, I mean,
26:53you saw how he just
26:54put me in a tree.
26:55Yeah, what does it feel
26:56like to have a man
26:57just suddenly put you
26:58in a tree?
26:59I, I honestly,
26:59there's so many times
27:00in the movie
27:01where he just like
27:01picks me up
27:02and puts me in a tree
27:03or picks me up
27:03with one hand.
27:04I have to say like
27:05it's really nice.
27:06It makes me feel like
27:07oh, I'm light as a feather.
27:09I'm a tiny little thing.
27:10Yeah, it's...
27:11Can I tell you something?
27:12I've had a man
27:13pick me up like that.
27:14How did you,
27:15how did it make you feel?
27:16You think I'm kidding
27:16but I am not kidding.
27:18Shaquille O'Neal.
27:19No.
27:20Lifted me up
27:21like I was a baby.
27:22No.
27:23And I just,
27:24I felt like,
27:24I just felt like
27:25a little boy.
27:26Did you feel safe
27:26in his big strong arms?
27:27I did.
27:28Wow, see?
27:28It was so much fun.
27:30Yeah, it's great, isn't it?
27:31It was like that feeling
27:32you have when like
27:33you and your friend
27:34are fighting his older brother
27:35and he just keeps
27:36throwing you in the pool
27:37over and over again.
27:38I just experienced that
27:39and I thought of that
27:40immediately when I saw
27:41it happened there.
27:42Yeah, yeah.
27:43I get it.
27:44The women,
27:44as you mentioned,
27:45go absolutely crazy
27:46for this Jacob Elordi.
27:48I'm excited for the women
27:49in the audience
27:49tomorrow night.
27:51Was Rotary Heights
27:52a book that you read
27:53when you were a student?
27:55We didn't,
27:55it wasn't on our curriculum.
27:56It was for a lot of schools,
27:58even in Australia,
27:59of course,
28:00but I, yeah,
28:01for some reason
28:01it wasn't at my school
28:02when I was,
28:03when I was there.
28:03So I didn't read it.
28:04I didn't read it
28:05until after I read
28:06Emerald's script.
28:07Oh, so then you decided
28:08to go back
28:08and read the book.
28:09Yeah,
28:09and I've read it
28:10a bunch of times now.
28:11It's phenomenal.
28:12How many times
28:13do you think
28:13you will read it
28:14before the end?
28:14Did you ever cheat
28:15in school?
28:17No, I, um,
28:18no, I was really
28:19against that, actually.
28:20Like, no,
28:20I wouldn't dub on someone
28:21else if they were cheating,
28:22but, like,
28:22I wouldn't have not.
28:23You wouldn't run them out.
28:24Did you ever help
28:24someone else cheat?
28:25I would, I would help,
28:26I would help
28:27if someone else,
28:28like, needed something.
28:28Did you ever read,
28:29do you have Cliff Notes
28:30over there?
28:30You know what that is?
28:31Yeah, there was,
28:31gosh, there was a website
28:33you could go to
28:33when I was at school.
28:34I can't remember
28:35what it was,
28:35but, yeah,
28:36you could go and, like,
28:37yeah, read a summary
28:38of a book
28:38instead of having
28:39to read the whole thing.
28:39We didn't have websites
28:40when I was in school.
28:43You had to go
28:44to a bookstore.
28:44Now, I don't even know
28:45if kids are reading,
28:46you know,
28:47writing their assignments
28:48or just...
28:48No, they're just reading
28:49text magazines.
28:50No, nobody reads anymore.
28:51They don't read it.
28:52This will be good for them.
28:53This will be the closest
28:54they get to reading.
28:56Like, if they're in school
28:57and they're assigned
28:58Wuthering Heights,
28:59will you,
29:00I've not read the book.
29:01Will they go watch the movie
29:01instead of reading?
29:02Yeah, will the movie
29:02tell them everything
29:03they need to know
29:04because that could be
29:04a real selling point
29:05for the film.
29:07Yeah, I don't know
29:08if that would get the
29:10grades that they need,
29:12really,
29:12because most,
29:12to be honest,
29:13most movie adaptations
29:14of Wuthering Heights,
29:15and there's been a lot,
29:17they kind of stop
29:18like halfway through the book.
29:19There's a whole second half
29:20where you go
29:21to the next generation
29:21and most movie adaptations
29:24don't really go...
29:25Is there...
29:25The one in...
29:26The 1992 one did
29:27with Ralph Fiennes
29:28and Juliette Binoche,
29:29they did that second half
29:30of the book,
29:31but most don't.
29:31There's a lot of sex
29:32in this one.
29:33Is there that much sex
29:34in the book?
29:35They never even really kiss.
29:38Wow.
29:39Yeah.
29:39You guys do.
29:40Yeah, we...
29:41We kiss a lot.
29:43All over.
29:43A lot.
29:44All over the property.
29:45We kiss and you'll kiss.
29:46Kiss everywhere.
29:47Yeah, yeah.
29:48A lot of kissing.
29:49The movie comes out
29:50on Valentine's Day.
29:51I assume that's intentional?
29:53Very intentional.
29:54It is...
29:54It's a good Valentine's Day movie.
29:56A good Valentine's.
29:57A good, great Galentine's movie.
29:59Like, I mean,
30:00just having experience
30:01watching this movie
30:02with a gaggle of hyenas
30:06slash women,
30:06I would say,
30:07like, going with a group
30:08of girlfriends
30:09and having a couple drinks
30:10and then just, like,
30:11this is...
30:12That's going to be
30:12a fun night out.
30:13And then you can go
30:14with your, you know,
30:15your partner.
30:15Right.
30:16And then on the way home,
30:17you could say,
30:17why aren't you as romantic
30:18as Jacob Allure?
30:20I was thinking,
30:20I was like,
30:21why won't you put me
30:22in a tree?
30:22I wonder if this
30:23will start fights
30:23because I do think
30:24a lot of men
30:25are going to turn
30:26to their partners afterwards
30:26and be like,
30:28am I Heathcliff to you
30:29or am I Edgar to you?
30:30Yeah.
30:31And I don't know
30:31if they want to hear
30:32the answer.
30:32I didn't even have to...
30:33And then the follow-up question
30:34is going to be like,
30:35well, then who is
30:36your Heathcliff?
30:36And I don't know.
30:38I didn't even have
30:38to ask the question.
30:39I knew I was Edgar
30:39the whole night.
30:40Yeah, yeah.
30:42My wife may have
30:43called me Edgar.
30:45Ed.
30:46She was being nice, yeah.
30:47Oh, but Edgar's
30:48such a green flag.
30:49Well, whether you're Edgar
30:50or Kathy or Heathcliff,
30:52Wuthering Heights
30:52opens at theaters
30:53February 13th.
30:55Bring your gal pals
30:56Margot Robbie, everybody.
30:58Thanks for being here
30:58with Yaya Abdul-Mateen II.
31:07Welcome back.
31:08Yaya Abdul-Mateen II
31:10is on the way.
31:11But first,
31:11as you've undoubtedly
31:13noticed tonight,
31:13our pal Guillermo
31:15has some extra
31:16pep in his step,
31:17all thanks to Shin Ramyeon.
31:19Guillermo,
31:20they're ready for you.
31:21Whoa.
31:23I cannot do the show tonight.
31:25I don't have enough energy.
31:26You don't have enough energy
31:27to sit on a stool
31:28and pretend to laugh?
31:29No, bro.
31:30Go away.
31:31Let me be a part of it.
31:33Need a medic down here.
31:34We got a code goo.
31:36Repeat, code goo.
31:38Don't worry.
31:38I've seen this before.
31:40He needs Shin Ramyeon.
31:42Step.
31:43The deliciously spicy flavor
31:45delivers happiness
31:46and emotional comfort
31:47when you're feeling
31:47tired and drained.
31:52Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum.
31:54Wow.
31:55That brings me
31:56spicy happiness.
31:58It's a miracle.
32:00No, it's Shin Ramyeon.
32:01Come on, guys.
32:02Let's do this.
32:09Can I have another bite
32:10of so spicy?
32:14The Nong Chim Shin Ramyeon.
32:17Spicy happiness in noodles.
32:28All right, welcome back.
32:29Our next guest is an Emmy-winning actor,
32:32you know, from Aquaman,
32:33Watchmen, Candyman,
32:35and a new show with man
32:36in the title, Wonder Man.
32:38What's this?
32:40Big audition you were talking about.
32:46Look, man, I'm not a weirdo,
32:47and I'm not desperate.
32:49I'm just curious.
32:51Would love to know what you're up to.
32:54Well, between you and me,
32:56it's a huge opportunity.
32:58I'm auditioning for Wonder Man.
33:02Anyway, nice meeting you.
33:04Wait, someone's actually
33:06remaking Wonder Man?
33:07Not someone.
33:10Von Kovek.
33:11Wonder Man premieres tomorrow
33:13on Disney+.
33:14Sailor Yaya Abdul-Mateen II.
33:32Can I tell you something?
33:33You look more like a superhero here
33:35than you do on the show.
33:36I'll take it.
33:37I'll take it.
33:38I appreciate you.
33:38I know you're from New York.
33:40You live in New York.
33:41You're not from New York.
33:42You made it out here okay?
33:43Were you back home
33:43for the snowstorm?
33:45No, no, no.
33:45I just made it in
33:47maybe about three days
33:48before everything hit.
33:49Okay.
33:50Very good timing.
33:51Good timing.
33:51You're from Oakland, though, right?
33:52I grew up in Oakland.
33:53Yeah, West Oakland.
33:54Yeah, all right.
33:55Then do you like L.A.
33:56or do you feel a rivalry
33:57with L.A.?
33:58Like that northern,
34:00southern California thing?
34:01No, you know, I did have that
34:03a little bit growing up.
34:05We call it set tripping.
34:07Really?
34:08Yeah, I used to have a little rivalry thing
34:14going on with L.A.
34:14Was it sports-based or was it just...
34:16No, it was just like culture-based.
34:18Oh.
34:18Bay Area culture, L.A. culture.
34:21But, you know, I was always
34:23on my way to L.A.
34:24Like once I chose to be an actor,
34:26I was always on my way to L.A.
34:28When you got here,
34:29did you like it more
34:31or did you still have that
34:33kind of Oakland chip
34:34on your shoulder?
34:35I still got the chip.
34:36You still have the chip?
34:37I still got the chip.
34:37And I still...
34:37Yeah, yeah, yeah.
34:38I still got the chip
34:38and I still really haven't
34:39made it to L.A.
34:40But when I wanted to come,
34:41I wanted to do...
34:42come to do a McDonald's commercial.
34:44That was your specific goal?
34:46That was the...
34:47That was the beginning.
34:48Not the specific goal.
34:49You know, I just wanted to...
34:50I wanted to...
34:52Well, why McDonald's...
34:54Specifically?
34:55There's a lot of commercials.
34:56Well, because McDonald's pays,
35:00apparently.
35:00Oh, they pay better
35:02than other companies?
35:03Better than Burger King, yeah.
35:04Oh.
35:06Where did you hear that?
35:07Who told you?
35:09There's no way that's true.
35:10I'm going to tell it to you.
35:11I'm going to tell it to you.
35:11The truth is,
35:12there was an actor
35:13who also went to Berkeley
35:15and she did a McDonald's commercial.
35:17Yeah.
35:17And then she did a background
35:20on a soap opera.
35:22Okay.
35:22So that's what I said.
35:24I'm going to do it just like that.
35:25I'm going to get me
35:26a McDonald's commercial
35:27and then I'm going to get me
35:28a line on the background
35:29on a soap opera.
35:30And then I'm going to get
35:32a couple speaking lines
35:33and then I'm going to be a regular.
35:35Uh-huh.
35:36I would have been really
35:36working them soap operas
35:37because them soap operas,
35:38you know, they go on
35:39and on and on.
35:40I think it's a...
35:41You know, it's going to be
35:42interesting to people
35:43when they watch the show
35:44to see the parallels here
35:47with this conversation
35:48and what happens on the show.
35:49Yeah, that's true.
35:50And in fact, we asked you
35:51and you were kind enough
35:52to bring your...
35:54Is this your first headshot?
35:55Yeah, yeah, yeah.
35:56How old are you in this?
35:57When was this?
35:58I'm 22 years old.
35:5922 years old.
36:00Yeah.
36:01Now, what I like about...
36:02I mean, you look great, obviously.
36:05You're a good-looking man.
36:06But what I love is the...
36:08What they do is they put the skills.
36:10They staple them
36:11to the back of the headshot.
36:13Yeah.
36:13And they're always just lies, right?
36:15Like, everything here is...
36:17What's true on this thing?
36:18I believe the theater stuff.
36:20I assume that's true?
36:22Eh.
36:25It's as true as it needs to be.
36:27It's true enough.
36:28It's true enough.
36:29And then we have...
36:30We've got various skills.
36:33Aerobics, baseball, basketball, bowling.
36:36Are you a bowler?
36:38Yep.
36:38Yeah?
36:40What's your average?
36:42Probably about a 130.
36:44I'm not gonna sit here
36:45and, you know, lie to your face.
36:49Okay, okay.
36:50I'm about a 90.
36:50I'm about a 90.
36:52I'm about a 90.
36:53And then you got...
36:55Stage combat training, hand-to-hand.
36:57Did that really happen?
36:58Yeah, that happened.
36:58That happened?
36:59Okay.
37:00All right.
37:00You've got dialects.
37:02I assume you can do this.
37:03Do you play...
37:04Now, tambourine.
37:06Everyone...
37:08Everyone with, like, at least one arm
37:10plays the tambourine, right?
37:12Man, look, I was trying to get a job, man.
37:15I was trying to get a job.
37:16They're like, oh, you know, we love him.
37:17He had a great...
37:18He looks great.
37:20His reed was fantastic.
37:21I just don't know if he can play the tambourine.
37:23And then, bam!
37:25Tambourine, yeah.
37:25Carpentry chef, comedian, hosting, impressionist singer,
37:29track and field, hurdle, long jump, relay, sprinter track.
37:33Is that stuff true?
37:34It's all true, man.
37:36But look, I never said...
37:38I never said I was good.
37:39I see.
37:40You know what I mean?
37:41They're skills you kind of have
37:44or don't have one way or the other.
37:46Look, if you put me...
37:47If you say go, I'll go.
37:49You will go.
37:50Yeah.
37:50Okay.
37:52What was the first job you ever had?
37:53Did you lie to get that?
37:55No, no, no, no, no.
37:56I didn't have to...
37:57I didn't have to lie to get that.
37:58My first job was cutting grass.
38:01Oh, all right.
38:02Yeah, you don't have to lie to get that.
38:03We just knock on the doors.
38:05About six of us, we show up with knives and machetes.
38:10And we cut grass with knives and machetes.
38:12Come on, for real?
38:13This is a true story.
38:14You'd show up, six of you, kids,
38:18with knives and machetes,
38:20and you'd say, can we cut your grass?
38:25And did they ever just give you the money and say, go?
38:28Or, I mean, that seems more like a threat than a service.
38:32I imagine it would look like a threat, though.
38:34You didn't think of that, man?
38:35I'm six years old.
38:37Oh, okay.
38:38Even a six-year-old with machete, I'd take serious.
38:42That's probably why we got so many jobs.
38:44You get down there with a knife and cut the grass?
38:46Yeah, man.
38:47It must have been beautiful.
38:48To me, it was.
38:49Oh, you know?
38:51Did you have any repeat customers?
38:53No, no repeat customers.
38:54No, okay, yeah.
38:55But we did go door to door.
38:57We knocked that neighborhood down.
38:59By the way, I'm sure you're aware
39:02you're getting great reviews for Wonder Man,
39:04which is, I liked it a lot.
39:07I enjoyed it.
39:08I didn't know, I never, you know,
39:10I'm a Marvel Comics fan.
39:11I never heard of Wonder Man.
39:13Yeah, yeah.
39:13This is a new one to me,
39:15but I like what you guys did with this.
39:17Thank you, I appreciate it.
39:17He's an actor, which is-
39:18He's an actor.
39:19Yeah.
39:19Yeah.
39:20And working with Sir Ben Kingsley is,
39:23I mean, you talk about an actor.
39:24I mean, this guy's probably as good
39:26as anybody ever, right?
39:27Yeah, yeah, yeah.
39:27He's top-notch.
39:29He's a pro.
39:29So kind.
39:30Is he?
39:31Yeah, yeah, yeah.
39:31He is.
39:32Because he seems like he might be weird, right?
39:34You see how you say, right?
39:36Like, I'm supposed to just agree?
39:37Like, no.
39:39See, he can still move.
39:41I don't mean that as a negative, necessarily,
39:43but he seems like, like, the consummate.
39:46Like, if you were thinking, I mean, he's a sir.
39:48He's a sir.
39:49How many sirs does one meet?
39:51And don't forget it.
39:52Yeah, no, does he not let you forget it?
39:53Nah.
39:53You call him sir?
39:55I call him Sir Ben.
39:56You do, Sir Ben.
39:56I call him Sir Ben.
39:57I don't call him sir.
39:58I call him Sir Ben.
39:59Sir Ben.
40:00That's better, Sir Ben?
40:01That's much better for me.
40:02That's better for me.
40:04Did he ask you to call him Sir Ben?
40:05He absolutely did.
40:06Oh, he did?
40:07Yeah, because the first time I met him,
40:08I said, it's so nice to meet you, Mr. Kingsley.
40:13He said, that's Sir.
40:14He said, that's Sir Ben.
40:15Wow.
40:16It's interesting, because some people do not,
40:18who are sirs, do not want to be called Sir.
40:20No, I think he wanted it.
40:22He wants it, yeah.
40:23I feel like I would want it, too, yeah.
40:25Yeah, yeah, it's kind of nice.
40:26Did you, at your first meeting with him, was it a...
40:28It was a Skype meeting.
40:29Oh, Skype meeting.
40:30Yeah, yeah, yeah.
40:30I mean, Skype.
40:31Skype.
40:32It was a Zoom.
40:33Skype.
40:33This guy was using Skype.
40:37One of your special skills.
40:39Yeah.
40:39A Zoom meeting.
40:42Well, you guys have good chemistry together,
40:44that's for sure.
40:44Thank you very much.
40:45I think it's going to be a big hit.
40:46Time Magazine said it's the best Marvel TV series yet.
40:49Is that right?
40:50They did.
40:50I'll take it.
40:51Did you know that, or are you pretending?
40:52You didn't know that.
40:53I knew that.
40:53You knew that.
40:54I knew it.
40:55I'm not supposed to.
40:56I'm not supposed to act like I knew it, but I knew it.
40:59Well, have a safe flight back,
41:01and then when you land,
41:03you could add Pilot to your resume.
41:05Hey, there we go.
41:07Yaya Abdul-Mateen II,
41:09Wonder Man is this show.
41:10It remains tomorrow night on Disney+.
41:20All right.
41:21Well, thanks to Margot Robbie and Yaya Abdul-Mateen II.
41:24Apologies to Matt Damon.
41:26We ran out of time for him.
41:27Nightline is next.
