00:00When I went to the home, the staff there had to put me in the hospital because they said that
00:06I
00:06was suffering from malnutrition. I was very underweight. So they put me in the hospital.
00:12I stayed in the hospital for like a week and they made sure I ate and everything and I got
00:17my
00:17vitamins because I was anemic. When I came out the hospital, I went to the home and I stayed there
00:23and I got my education there. My mother had died a year after I went into the home. She died
00:30from
00:30cirrhosis of the liver, which is from... I stayed until I was 18. Then I aged out. So I went
00:38to stay
00:38with my father in his little apartment that he had. I stayed there and I cooked and I cleaned for
00:44him.
00:44But then I had to put up with his drinking and he drank and it was like taking me back
00:51down memory
00:52lane. I met my first husband and we got married and we had two boys. I thought it would be
00:59a good
01:00marriage, but it didn't wind up being that way. He wound up leaving me for another woman. So that
01:05just added to some of my dysfunctional behaviors. And after we broke up, I started drinking. I took
01:14care of the kids the best I knew how. Then I got a good government job and on the weekends,
01:18I would
01:19binge drink. I would drink until I passed out sometimes. I almost lost my job. This is what
01:25happened to turn me around.
