Trying to figure what went wrong for Framber Valdez Tuesday night against the Boston Red Sox.
Transcript
00:00all right we said we get to the tiger game last night because stuff happened um and it started
00:04early and the accusations that have emerged in the hours that followed last night's game
00:13uh one former player eric osmer is offering up what he thinks is proof that the red sox were
00:22stealing um and signaling from second base the pitches to home because when they had runners on
00:29second they could see into franber valdez glove could see the grip and then they were signaling
00:34pitches home and he showed a couple of examples of when he thought it happened and posted it on
00:41social media now osmer has been all over the red sox as far as relaying signs to the hitter based
00:49on pitch grips uh and he was the one that forwarded the argument i saw buster only actually retweet it
00:57because people in the game were talking about it the red sox base coaches were told to get back
01:03into the coaching box and the belief was not last night but prior to last night the the coaches the
01:11base coaches were walking up the foul line well out of side of the coaching box to maybe act like
01:18they're talking to the umpires but what they were really doing was looking and work looking into the
01:22gloves of the opposing pitcher to get a better view so they could see the grip and signal to batters
01:28what the signs were so a batter would know fastball curveball whatever um hasmer put together some
01:37examples last night uh trevor story in the first inning with a breo on second showing how the sign was
01:44getting relayed uh to trevor story story was on second and the third when raffaella um oh what's
01:53his last name it is yeah i'm sorry yes it was raffi what's his first name my bad raffaella hit
01:59the
02:00home run and um story was on second base uh then raffaella was on second with durbin single to left
02:10field on the line drive the back-to-back home runs he's at 60 pitches story comes up he drills
02:17him in the back hosmer thinks this is about them peering into his glove and stealing signs
02:25and they're stealing pitches based upon the grip now that's something that that franberg has to do a
02:32better job of hiding if it's the case i mean i'm here for the conspiracy and i think it's interesting
02:38you know it was a it was a helmet tap on curveballs and it was a quick look to the
02:43left on fastballs
02:46you know this is part of something that happens in the world of sports where the game polices itself
02:54happens in hockey and it happens in baseball it's part of the game franberg's probably going to get
03:00suspended should franberg have been out there in the fourth well you know aj is trying to get innings
03:07out of guys their injuries have been well documented the lack of depth in the pitching
03:12staff the having to go to bullpen days franberg i'm almost sure i'm certain would have been pulled
03:18on any other night but he's just trying to squeeze whatever he can out of his pitcher and it probably
03:24was an embarrassing and tough outing for franberg valdez and i hate it for him but do i think he
03:30hit
03:31story in the back intentionally of course i think right i i think he did too but the fact that
03:37he
03:37wasn't warned before anything because he didn't do anything to get warned um and gets ejected after
03:43a discussion it wasn't like he got ejected right after he drilled them between the numbers he got
03:48ejected after a discussion i don't know if he'll get suspended i hope he doesn't get suspended
03:53um do i think he did it on purpose yeah i do and if if the red sox are sign
03:59stealing there's nothing
04:00against sign stealing this is how you stop it or this is one of the unwritten rules of baseball if
04:04you get caught doing it you're gonna have to expect to get hit yep that's how it works um right
04:10or wrong
04:10it's just how it is it's interesting that you mentioned hosmer's gone after the red sox before
04:16yep now they've changed managers but who is the manager to start the season uh joey cora or alex
04:24cora sorry alex cora yeah alex cora who was with houston with the sign stealing stuff going on there
04:31with a.j hinch and the team that a.j maintains had no knowledge of it and i actually believe
04:36him
04:36based on his reactions to stuff and trying to you know put that out in the in the locker room
04:42in the
04:42clubhouse uh but cora got implicated in that and he had to serve suspension it was a big deal when
04:48he
04:48was signed by the red sox to manage that team is it a stretch that the red sox are doing
04:55this
04:55it's not and again it's not against the rules to i mean it's just this is where the game polices
05:00itself exactly uh you know i'm not i don't think what happened last night is some massive controversy
05:07okay i think that a.j probably needs to i don't know this i shouldn't say probably a.j need
05:13if i
05:14were in a.j's shoes i make sure frambert's cool like hey look i'm sorry maybe i shouldn't put you
05:18back out there for the fourth inning understand what i was trying to do you took one for the team
05:22last night and i appreciate it the problem is now he may get suspended and they might be even more
05:28short-handed pitching wise well this is i agree with you 100 he has to have a conversation with
05:32frambert i'm sure it was had last night as soon as they got uh you know to the bench or
05:36maybe right
05:37after the game because if frambert just goes right to the showers and fair enough but it's a
05:42conversation that has to be had because everything last night was circumstantial it was about the
05:49circumstances of the game it was about you know a guy that's coming in and they needed desperately
05:56to have him go innings because of what happened the previous two games with you know the scoobal news
06:02and you have the opener and all the bullpen being utilized in the game you had to have it and
06:09he wasn't giving you competitive innings and i think the other concern is that this is something
06:16that you know not this in particular but this is perhaps a symptom of things that have happened
06:22before with frambert valdez in his past where he loses it he gets upset there was the instance last
06:28year with you know crossing up his catcher and and um you know that that's difficult to watch
06:34because like how does that happen you know you guys gotta need to have a conversation on the same page
06:38he can bounce back and be an amazing pitcher because that's the kind of pitcher that he is he's got
06:43great
06:43stuff and and at times looks like an ace uh and that's why the tigers signed him but they need
06:49to
06:49get ahead of this and and and explain things with him and have to talk it out and i'm sure
06:54that they will
06:55and hopefully he comes back and he's better because of it but yeah giving up the 10 runs
07:00yeah a nine hits and a walk and serving up three home runs in in three plus innings it's not
07:07a good
07:07look at all and maybe things would have been different if mckinster doesn't make that error
07:12in the first inning um but it is what it is and and hopefully they get back on track in
07:17the meantime
07:18you don't want a suspension now you're gonna be watching to see what happens what the commissioner
07:23decides on this and and if the tiger the tiger is going to have to make a another corresponding move
07:28and they just don't have you know this dearth of pitching in the minor leagues right there are two
07:32huge questions looming over this organization though right now right here right now given where we are
07:38in the season what's going on with the roster you had them both in your show sheet we will get
07:41to
07:41that today at 11 50 plus more piston calls and texts it is karshan anderson on 971
