00:00Let's start with some interesting facts about life. According to the Centers for Disease Control
00:04and Prevention, the average life expectancy at birth in the U.S. is about 76 years. Greg McPherson,
00:11cellular health expert, says people are generally living longer and we're generally losing less
00:16people earlier. And those two things work together to bring lifespan up. However, living longer
00:21doesn't necessarily mean living healthier. Approximately 65% of people over the age of 60
00:27are living with multiple health issues. Our health spans aren't keeping up with our lifespans.
00:33Here's why. The reliance on medicine to fix health problems after they have already occurred,
00:39rather than prioritizing prevention, is a major factor. The American healthcare system specifically
00:44is a break-fix model rather than preventative aid. To add more years to your health span,
00:50schedule regular visits with your doctor, maintain a healthy diet, prioritize wellness and exercise.
00:55gratitude, mindfulness and a great social circle, I think, can add years, if not a decade,
01:01to your life, says McPherson.
