Some landscapes stay quiet right up until they do not.

Timothée and his girlfriend experienced a volcano eruption from an incredibly close distance.

"After 2 hours and 45 minutes of hiking, the six of us, including my girlfriend and I, reached the summit of Piton de la Fournaise Crater Dolomieu. We saw rocks falling into the middle of the crater and did not even have time to take a souvenir photo, but my camera was already on. Suddenly, there was a loud rushing wind and intense heat, and lava geysers began erupting to our left," the filmer, Timothée, told WooGlobe.

It is a reminder of how quickly a familiar view can shift into something far less predictable.

''I was the first person to report the eruption, as emergency services were not aware of it when I called. We were rescued by the PGHM helicopter at the edge of the cliff, and my girlfriend was airlifted by hoist, as shown in the video,'' Timothée added.
