00:01I think it's one of the worst houses we'll probably ever encounter in our
00:05entire career. This house excites the crap out of me. I'm Kamal Hai Kalama,
00:11right? Yeah! And I'm Tristan Kalama. I put on extra deodorant for this.
00:18We buy and renovate homes in the most challenging place in the country, Hawaii.
00:23The shipping is more than the actual material cost. We want to restore homes
00:28for our local families. The real estate here is crazy expensive. So to make this
00:35work, we have to take on some of the most rundown homes on the island. Can you hear
00:39them? Disgusting. How do we do it? Our giant family. I have 87 first cousins. Yo,
00:48what's up, cuz? More than anything, we want our children to be good human beings.
00:54Exactly. You can't have little ass walking around. Little ass walking around.
01:10I'm calling it now. Biggie's going in. I was just gonna say the same thing. I can just see it
01:15happening.
01:15Yeah. I'm gonna. Oh. Hello? Hey, man. How's it going? Good. How are you? I'm good, bro. I'll probably have
01:27a property right up your alley.
01:28You're telling me you got a lead for me. Yeah, man. So Matt owns a local junk removal company here
01:35on Oahu, and not only do we use him for our junk removal, but he's also a good source for
01:41leads.
01:42Dude, check out these photos. It's on a huge lot in Aiea. Oh my gosh. This is definitely a house
01:50we would buy.
01:51Bro, you gotta get over here ASAP. They're about to list the property and we're almost done. That was junk,
01:58man.
01:58They just did a clean out of a house. Oh my gosh. I was like, um, this is a house
02:04that we would buy.
02:05That we would buy. Yeah. He says they're about to list, so we have to check it out first thing
02:10tomorrow.
02:10Okay. Yep. I love referrals from Jung Fan. I know.
02:14I would like to see you do one of these kicks from your son. Me? Oh my gosh, no.
02:19Look at your mother-in-law. He's teaching you the wrong.
02:25Mom, you're gonna tear something.
02:32Today, we're on our way to check out a tip about a house on the west side of Aiea, which
02:37is a diverse suburban neighborhood on Oahu.
02:40This area has everything, from beautiful hiking trails to the Pearl Ridge Shopping Center, which is the largest indoor mall
02:48in Hawaii.
02:49Because of all it has to offer, the average home goes for right around a million dollars.
02:55Yo. What's up, guys? What's up, my man?
02:58Hey, man. I'm getting out of here. We just finished the last couple loads, but you're gonna need these.
03:04Oh my gosh. It's one of the worst places I've ever seen.
03:07No way. Are you serious? Thank you for the lead, though.
03:09I'm scared. I appreciate it. No problem. See you guys. Bye.
03:14This is not good. If Matt has this mask, what does that mean? Where are you taking me?
03:20Bro. Look at that beauty.
03:24Oh my crap.
03:27Makes sense why Matt called us.
03:30At least it has a huge carport.
03:32Yes, it's a very big carport.
03:34Look at where we are. We're at the end of a cul-de-sac.
03:37I agree. I agree.
03:39So, I looked it up. It's like 2,200 square feet. Two levels. This looks like a house we would
03:46buy.
03:46Right off the bat. Ferns growing out of the gutters. The roof hasn't been changed in...
03:52Ever.
03:52...30 years.
03:53Just ever.
03:54This property ends on that back wall. We could do something super cool with this huge backyard.
04:01Is that a chicken coop?
04:03That is a chicken coop. I mean, this one is definitely bad.
04:06Do you smell that?
04:08It smells like money.
04:09It smells like cat s***.
04:13And we're kind of in a busy area. Like, we're tucked back here, but I can hear the cars.
04:18I'm terrified.
04:20Okay. I'm excited. Let's go look at it.
04:23After you.
04:24Well, what is this little space here?
04:28I mean, this is weird. It's super low.
04:32Can you fit?
04:33I can, like, barely fit. But we have a toilet?
04:36Next to a fridge.
04:39Okay, and then I'm walking into...
04:41Okay, so it gets taller in here. This is good.
04:44I think that this was some kind of an open patio.
04:49Is this on tax records?
04:50This is on tax records. Now, that toilet over there, I don't know.
04:55I'm grabbing my mask.
04:57Another entrance on the ground floor? You're not going to like the smell in here.
05:02That's what I'm smelling already.
05:06Okay. There's three bedrooms and a bath down here.
05:10How are you not wearing a mask right now?
05:12This is the grossest smelling house I've ever been in.
05:15Oh, my gosh. Babe, there's water damage here.
05:19Look at the duct tape on the ceiling.
05:21There is duct tape on the ceiling everywhere.
05:24I'm so worried on what this is concealing.
05:27What is on this light bulb?
05:30Dead termites.
05:30These are all termites.
05:32Is it a spider web that caught all these...
05:34Babe, let's move on.
05:37So you have a good-sized room right here.
05:40This room is giving me dungeon vibes.
05:42It's just so dirty.
05:44Okay.
05:45This one's bigger.
05:48More duct tape on the ceiling.
05:50But look at just the dirt.
05:52Is this termite dropping?
05:54And it just keeps getting grosser.
05:57There's four windows in this room as well.
06:00I feel like it's the same size as the other one.
06:02We have a lot of the same, which is duct tape, disgustingness.
06:07Spider webs.
06:09Let's move on.
06:10I've never seen anything like that.
06:12Okay, here's their one and only dungeon bathroom.
06:15It's because of all the brick.
06:17This is a good enough room where you could rework it and actually have...
06:21I don't want to stay in there.
06:23A couple.
06:24There's good space in there.
06:25Okay.
06:26Moving on.
06:26Now we get to see the upstairs.
06:29After you?
06:30No.
06:31After you.
06:33Up here, there's supposed to be three bedrooms and one bathroom.
06:37Ta-da!
06:38Ta-da!
06:40Okay.
06:41We have some natural light.
06:43A little less dungeon-y.
06:44Yeah, it looks like the ceilings feel a little taller in here.
06:47Okay.
06:48On tax records, this upstairs area is smaller.
06:52This is about 950 square feet up here.
06:55Oh my gosh.
06:57Holy crap.
06:58Okay, this is the grossest kitchen I've ever seen.
07:03This kitchen has not been used.
07:05Like, there's no freaking way.
07:07Let's move on.
07:09Um, okay.
07:10It's like such a small...
07:12This is the bathroom?
07:13This is the one bathroom up here.
07:16Scrape me out of here.
07:18There's a live spider in the corner.
07:20Okay, into the other less disgusting room.
07:23Look at the carpet, babe.
07:26This was the walking path, obviously.
07:28That's so crazy.
07:30I know.
07:31This is a issue.
07:33Major water damage right there, for sure.
07:35Like, this has been leaking for a long time.
07:38So then it looks like there's two more bedrooms over here.
07:41This is the cleanest room we've been in.
07:44It's also the darkest room.
07:47Okay, last bedroom.
07:49Oh, I mean, this one's good size.
07:52Oh, it's the biggest.
07:53It's the biggest one so far.
07:55The chickens, man.
07:57It's also pitch black in here.
07:58These trees are just blocking out any kind of natural light.
08:02It's because of the trees and the massive amounts of dust.
08:07I need to go back outside.
08:09Let's go.
08:10Okay.
08:11Need some fresh air.
08:13Oh.
08:15You all right?
08:16I'm, like, dizzy.
08:18It is very bad.
08:20But if you put that aside.
08:22I'm trying.
08:22The location is excellent.
08:25On a super large lot.
08:26Right.
08:27And you have-
08:28It has technically two-
08:30Multi-generational living.
08:32Right.
08:32This area is really known for that as well.
08:34A buyer could have a full house, basically, upstairs and also downstairs.
08:41Totally separate entrance.
08:43There's even an opportunity to turn into three units.
08:45It could be a multi-gen buyer, so somebody with a very large family and they all need to live
08:51in one location.
08:52It could be a first-time home buyer that's going to live in one portion, rent out the
08:59others to offset the mortgage.
09:01We would have to buy it for right around $800.
09:04So, $100,000 less than it's listed.
09:07And based on recent comps in the area, we sell this thing.
09:12We can sell it for $1.45.
09:15Chicken.
09:16Holding, selling, money costs are going to be about $200,000.
09:21Rentals, like, $275.
09:23That leaves us $175,000 in profit.
09:27That's good because I just feel like we're going to need all the contingency, margin,
09:32and assurance that we can on this property because this market sucks.
09:36This is a huge job.
09:38It smells like they let every cat in the neighborhood pee right here as their litter box and lacking
09:46creativity at the moment.
09:47Well, luckily, that's not my job.
09:50Oh, great.
09:51So, you can go and figure that out.
09:54Put your offering and see if you can get it.
09:54I am just buying good freaking deals.
09:57Well, we'll see.
09:58See what they say.
09:59And call Matt and tell him thank you.
10:01Definitely calling Matt.
10:02Thank you for sending me the ugliest house.
10:04I'm going to tell him, Matt, that was a perfect house for us.
10:15We put an offer at $800,000, but the seller came back with $850,000.
10:20After some back and forth, we settled on $825,000.
10:25The renovation should take right around 16 weeks, so we'll need to have the crew ready
10:31to go.
10:32So, once we get this house, we can start.
10:38All right, so this one that I'm signing now is closing on Tuesday, right?
10:43Yeah, that one is already at the paperwork.
10:45Everything's good.
10:46So, I'm going to go drop that off to escrow.
10:48Okay.
10:49Hold on, babe.
10:50I'm getting a call from the AIA house agent.
10:53Hello?
10:57Honestly, this has never happened in my career, and I can't apologize enough, but...
11:05We had two offers on the property, yours and another one, that was almost identical.
11:09Same price, but just had inspection contingencies.
11:12But I submitted the wrong offer to escrow, and unfortunately, they have actually opened
11:21escrow.
11:22Wait, so you...
11:23So, we don't have an accepted offer.
11:25You had two offers that were similar, and you thought you sent ours, but you sent someone
11:31else's?
11:33They've paid their EMDs, so they're legally in escrow.
11:37That's so crazy.
11:38How does that happen?
11:40We already had lined up all of our resources, our finances, crews scheduled to go out there
11:48to inspect the property.
11:50And you're telling me we don't have this house?
11:53What?
11:54This is insane.
11:56What's the recourse on this?
11:58This is a big deal.
12:02If anything happens with this deal, and they don't make it through escrow, of course, I would
12:08come back to you before anything else.
12:11Well, keep me posted.
12:14I'll do it.
12:16I'll do it.
12:16I'll do it.
12:17I'll do it.
12:17How does that even happen?
12:20I can tell from what she's telling me that no matter what, they're going to come back
12:25to us if something happens, I'm going to try and negotiate the out of that price.
12:30I mean, an inspection on a house like that is going to have so many issues.
12:35The roof has to be replaced, all of the plumbing, not to mention all the electrical systems, they're
12:43definitely falling out of escrow.
12:44That's an understatement.
13:11That's an understatement.
13:14This is the closest disgusting house I think we've ever done, and we literally have 16 weeks
13:20to make it look nice.
13:22I love it.
13:24Well, make it livable.
13:25It's not livable.
13:27All right.
13:28Today's more of just exploratory demo.
13:31You guys go upstairs, demo the kitchen, and then we'll hang back downstairs and try and
13:36open up the ceiling and see what is going on.
13:40Okay.
13:49It just really stinks in here.
13:52Like this.
13:52It does.
13:53Yeah.
13:53Why is there so much dirt in here?
13:55This hole, the kitchen is right here.
13:57Yeah.
14:00What the heck was that?
14:02That is so wild.
14:04What is that hole?
14:06This is not normal termite damage.
14:09Well, it's normally square.
14:10You guys see this too, right?
14:13That's from a rat.
14:14Oh, my God.
14:16Are you telling me there's rats in the ceiling?
14:19A rat's nest.
14:20Oh.
14:21I don't know.
14:22There's evidence of your rat.
14:24Yeah.
14:25You can see how those teeth work.
14:26That's disgusting.
14:27If a rat falls out of the ceiling, you guys...
14:30I'm waiting for...
14:31Oh, my God.
14:32A rat.
14:32This is officially the worst house we have ever bought.
14:37It doesn't just stink.
14:38It's like gross rat stink.
14:41Okay.
14:42On to the next.
14:51Dermites.
14:52Oh, my God.
14:58Holy crap.
15:00You're literally covered in rat...
15:03Both of you in rat s**t and piss.
15:05You throw a hug.
15:05I know.
15:06You better not.
15:07I swear.
15:08Don't do Bo's round house kick.
15:11You guys drug me here.
15:13I don't feel good.
15:14Okay.
15:14So, what are the next steps?
15:15The next steps are taking a shower.
15:18I agree with that.
15:19The thing is, is like, you have to take off all your clothes to drive home.
15:23Because, like...
15:24And just throw them in the back of the truck.
15:26Yeah.
15:26You know you said that, like, four times.
15:28I'm just reiterating.
15:29You really want me to get naked on the drive home.
15:32Always.
15:34Alright.
15:36Ah, jeez.
15:37Are you really running away?
15:39Yeah.
15:40Love you.
15:51Now that the permits are approved for two weeks into our 16-week schedule and already
15:56have the upstairs framed out, they're cutting openings for the new windows and doors.
16:00And downstairs, they're running electrical through the large living space.
16:04Yo.
16:04What's up, buddy?
16:05Morning.
16:06Is framing all done up here?
16:07Yeah.
16:08Framing is 99%.
16:10Okay.
16:11Yeah.
16:11Nice.
16:11As far as the layouts...
16:13It feels good in here.
16:14Yeah.
16:15This is such a better layout.
16:17We've decided to make this property into three living spaces with a shared laundry room.
16:22On the top level, we're scraping the existing floor plan, so now you'll enter through a foyer.
16:27The right will be the bedroom and a shared bath.
16:29Then what used to be that gross galley kitchen on the left will be the second bedroom.
16:34You'll now have an open and airy kitchen and a large glass door that will have access
16:38to a staircase leading to the backyard.
16:40And the primary suite will be on the back right.
16:43Downstairs, we'll keep the same layout in our three-bedroom, one-bath unit while adding
16:47some much-needed storage.
16:49Finally, we'll separate that third unit with the weird exposed toilet into a proper laundry
16:55space and a rec room.
16:56Having a multi-gen space is going to add more value to it.
17:00It's going to attract way more buyers if we have the opportunity to have multiple family
17:06members pitch in to buy the house.
17:08So I would say 90% of the neighborhoods in Oahu, we go for multi-gen.
17:13This is the biggest change right here.
17:15Right.
17:16Is there was no access from upstairs, which is where people actually spend their time,
17:22to the backyard.
17:23I mean, it's huge.
17:24Plus, this slider is going to let in a ton of natural light.
17:27Now you walk in and you actually get to enjoy what you have.
17:34We're four weeks into our 16-week schedule and upstairs, new windows are in, drywall is
17:39up.
17:40Crew's working on the new roof.
17:41And our new exterior siding is getting painted.
17:44So while the crew works on the outside, Kamalhai and I are going to talk through design.
17:48Do you smell that?
17:50It smells like cat .
17:53There's a lot of pieces to this house.
17:56And smells.
17:56So the design is sophisticated jungle bull.
18:00Yeah.
18:00That's what I'm coining.
18:01I love it.
18:02We're in like a metro, like a bustling city.
18:06So like it's unexpected to have that amount of jungle, like right by your house.
18:12So obviously green and bold color, like blues and coral, bring that all together and make
18:18it still feel unique and elevated and I guess jungle.
18:23I'm just going to start right with the foyer when you walk in.
18:27When we bought the house, there was a checkered floor.
18:29I want to bring it back.
18:30Bring it back checkered.
18:31But like in a cool way, not in a very dated yellow way.
18:37So I wanted to do it in this and this, making the checker pattern light and dark.
18:42And it'll go from the front door till right here.
18:45That's awesome.
18:46So then starting in the bedrooms and running throughout is our Marcus Mackay poly notch cola.
18:55Sick.
18:56Okay.
18:56Now kitchen cabinets, we go bold with a black shaker.
19:01The two tone where we do the taupe, the aroma clay with the black.
19:07Moving on to the primary, we do the four by four green.
19:12Okay.
19:13In all shower walls.
19:15And then do this brick four by four behind the vanity and the toilet wall.
19:22Love it.
19:23So now downstairs.
19:24Downstairs.
19:25There's the wet bar.
19:26So we literally mimic whatever we do up here, which is black shaker below.
19:31This aroma clay on the top.
19:33Yeah.
19:33That's the same thing.
19:34Okay, next.
19:35So the rec room, we're just going to have a dry bar.
19:38Right.
19:38And it'll be this cabinet again, this black shaker with the same type of floating shelves.
19:45And then this is basically your backsplash is this wallpaper.
19:48That is cool.
19:49And it's a dry bar.
19:50So it's not like this is going to get wet or damaged.
19:53I just love the design.
19:55Yeah.
19:56I think that's the point.
19:57We have a pillow like that at our house.
19:58I really, really like this.
20:00Let's get it ordered.
20:05While things are progressing on the inside of the house, we still haven't figured out what
20:10we're going to do with that huge backyard.
20:16Ugh, that smell is giving litter box.
20:20This is actually a really big yard.
20:22Where'd that ladder come from?
20:24Somebody was picking coconuts.
20:26Oh, I think that's the neighbors.
20:27I guess it's everybody's, it's not ours.
20:29Oh my gosh.
20:31She's like picking coconuts.
20:32She's like picking coconuts.
20:33Unless there's something else up there.
20:35No, don't climb the bed.
20:37What are you doing?
20:41It's a tsunami warning.
20:44Didn't, didn't we just get one of these last week?
20:47Yeah.
20:47Was there an earthquake somewhere?
20:49It says it was off of the coast of Russia.
20:52How big was it?
20:53It says it's an 8.8.
20:55That's huge.
20:56Are you sure Josh?
20:58Not more.
20:58Oh my God.
20:59Yeah, my mom's calling.
21:00Hi.
21:01Did you get that?
21:02Right here.
21:03Yeah.
21:03Are you hearing about the tsunami warning?
21:06Yeah.
21:07You think it's serious or what?
21:10We just had police come down the street telling everybody-
21:14Already?
21:14The evacuation warning.
21:16That's not normal.
21:17I mean, that's never happened before.
21:19They've never come down your road and told people to leave.
21:23Dude.
21:24My parents are texting me.
21:25That's why I was calling.
21:26I was like, oh wow.
21:27That's a first.
21:28We need to get the kids right now.
21:30I just wanted to-
21:31We'll call you back.
21:32Bye.
21:33Yeah.
21:33This is not, this is not normal.
21:35I've never in my 30 plus years of life had cops come down my parents' road telling those houses to
21:45evacuate.
21:46Never.
21:47And we have multiple tsunami warnings every year.
21:49We should literally go home, get the kids.
21:54Let's-
21:54Let's wrap.
21:56Alright guys, let's cut camera and pack up and go.
21:59Okay.
22:05We want to give you breaking news because Hawaii is under a tsunami warning.
22:10Get away from the beaches, get inland, and get upward.
22:14It is not a regular wave.
22:15It will actually kill you.
22:17We expect significant damage along the coastlines.
22:20We pray that we won't lose any of our loved ones.
22:22That's why we have to be very safe.
22:29Hawaii got really lucky with only a few smaller surges of water.
22:33And after a few hours, the warning was lifted and everyone is safe.
22:37I can remember one time, I think I was like six years old, there was a tsunami.
22:42We had to evacuate and we drove up to-
22:47Up there.
22:48Yup.
22:48That road right up there.
22:49Right up on that road.
22:51And I actually thought it was a fun extortion because-
22:54When you're younger.
22:54We were like packing everything up and driving up there.
22:57We were going camping.
22:57But we sat up there and we looked out at the ocean and nothing happened.
23:03The last big tsunami was back in 1960.
23:08There was massive devastation.
23:11If you look at the island chain, the big island is the first island.
23:14Yeah.
23:14And it's the biggest.
23:16So when the tsunami is coming in, it's normally hitting the Hilo side of the big island.
23:22The wave was like 35 feet.
23:25It was a scary tsunami.
23:27And like it's better to take it seriously, right?
23:31And treat it with a level of severity because it's better to be safe than sorry.
23:36But the thing is where we live in Kailua, like basically the whole city is an evacuation zone.
23:42So like Kailua itself got really hectic.
23:45But us, we just packed our stuff up and waited because we could just drive up the hill if we
23:50needed to.
23:59We had a ton of time to think about this landscaping plan.
24:04So today I'm meeting with our landscaper, Reagan, to figure out what we're going to do.
24:10Okay.
24:11Do you smell that?
24:12Yeah.
24:13I smell the cats you're talking about, right?
24:14Yeah.
24:15Just off the top of your head, is there anything we could do to try and help with that smell?
24:20Yes.
24:21What I do when it's cats is first of all, we spray it, chop it down, and then we till
24:25it.
24:26Yeah.
24:26And by turning the soil, it should air out the smell.
24:29Then the plants is where we try to help with the cats.
24:32Basically, we put like rosemary, lavender plants, and we can actually mix them in the landscape,
24:38which they don't like the smell of them.
24:39Oh, they don't like lavender.
24:41They don't like the smell.
24:41It's not going to hurt them, harmful.
24:43Yeah.
24:43But it's just something they don't like, and they'll go somewhere else.
24:46Well, we already had $10,000 planned for our landscaping plants.
24:50We can swap out some of these for cat repellent ones.
24:54Let's go in the back.
24:55Okay.
24:55Look at this massive backyard.
24:57Mm-hmm.
24:57We have to make a real big impact.
25:00So we're really going to lean into our jungle theme.
25:02Obviously, we keep all the fruit trees.
25:04Okay, got it.
25:05But clean up all the other stuff.
25:07Make a big planter on this side.
25:09And then I'm going to come back with my buddy Nalu to install a pergola out here.
25:14So like if you have a multi-gen family and one family's living upstairs, one's downstairs,
25:20the pergola area can be a gathering spot for them to enjoy each other's company and the backyard.
25:28Try and till this as much as we can.
25:32Like get all the rubbish out.
25:33Give it a couple days.
25:34Max three days, you know, would be everything.
25:36Okay?
25:36Sounds good.
25:37Yep.
25:46We're pushing ahead on our IAM project.
25:49Upstairs, flooring is going in.
25:51Downstairs, we're caught up with drywall and starting to paint.
25:55With access to all three spaces, we've reframed the old toilet fridge area into a new laundry room.
26:16How are you guys working in this mud?
26:18Wow.
26:19I mean, we're doing our best.
26:21You wore your pretty shoes.
26:22I mean.
26:25Looking good.
26:26I mean, check it out.
26:26Looking like a pergola.
26:28It's going to be sick.
26:30We have it right here on the phone.
26:31The jungle vision is coming together.
26:34But the one thing I noticed, I hear more road now more than ever because we got rid of a
26:40lot of the trees that were back here.
26:42Can we do anything about that?
26:45Well, there is actually a creek running back there.
26:50What if we brought the creek sound onto our property with a water feature?
26:56Helps drown out the noise.
26:59I'm down.
27:00I think it's leaning way into jungle.
27:03Well, I guess I have to go find a water feature now.
27:06Yeah, you do.
27:07I mean, but there is still one massive problem.
27:11What?
27:12It still smells like cat pee.
27:14You guys don't smell that?
27:16I got hit with it right in the front.
27:19Again.
27:19It doesn't matter how beautiful we make it back here.
27:22Water features, pergolas, fire pits, jungle book.
27:26If it smells like pee, no one's going to want to buy this house.
27:36All right.
27:36Well, what are you saying then?
27:37We got to do something like you go research.
27:40Yeah, I know.
27:41Can we spray something?
27:42Can we till more?
27:44I remember in the beginning when we smelt it like so much.
27:47I talked to Reagan and Reagan said there are enzyme sprays that can help with the smell.
27:54I can go hunt them down and look for them.
27:57I need you to spray the crap.
28:00I'll go get the enzyme spray, spray the crap out of the yard, and we'll hopefully get a hold of
28:07it.
28:07It's a good plan.
28:08All right.
28:09Happy building.
28:11It's going to look good.
28:18So today I'm heading into Waimanalo to Big Rock to look for a water feature for our Aiea house.
28:28Okay.
28:29So we're starting to hear like a bunch of sound from like the road behind.
28:35So we think a water feature would help like drown that out.
28:40You've come to the right place.
28:41Yeah, let's go.
28:42All right.
28:43Okay.
28:43Right this way.
28:44Yeah.
28:45We have some unexpected expenses in the backyard, but we do have a contingency budget.
28:51Being able to create this oasis is going to add a ton of value.
28:56So we have a few different types of waterfall features.
28:59This one's my favorite because of the sound of the water.
29:03Like what are we talking about price wise?
29:06So with our prefab waterfall features, price range starts at about $1,500 all the way up to $7,000.
29:12Okay.
29:13Yeah, so I like this one, but I do think this one's probably a little bit too big for the
29:19space.
29:19Okay.
29:19I did see one that was out in the front.
29:27So this is our eagle wazoo.
29:29I like it because it's not taking up a ton of real estate, but it's also taller.
29:35Yes.
29:35So it has like a lot of sound.
29:38What are we looking at price wise?
29:40About $4,500 roughly.
29:42Okay.
29:43I feel like we do this one.
29:44You got it.
29:45Easy.
29:45Yeah.
29:46Yeah.
29:55Let's go.
29:56This is a fresh cut grass scent.
29:58I mean, this is what you said we got to do.
30:00With only a few weeks left, I have a solution for the cat stink problem.
30:07We are going to use the most powerful enzyme spray and put it everywhere.
30:14You got to get down up in there.
30:21In the second level unit, tile is going up in the hall bathroom and the primary shower.
30:27Upstairs in the foyer, Tris and I are laying out the large format checkered tile.
30:32Now, it's all hands on deck to finish the exterior.
30:36White stucco is going to make this house really pop from the street.
30:40And we're laying wood grain tile on the stairs to the second floor for a durable and modern entrance to
30:47the main living space.
30:49Inside, cabinets have arrived.
30:50And we're working to assemble and install in all three spaces and the laundry room.
31:02I mean, it looks good though.
31:04I mean, I love the tile and the stairs.
31:06I think this was like necessary.
31:08The cabinets are good though and they look good.
31:11The light fixtures are starting to go in.
31:14Yeah.
31:14No, they look really good.
31:16There's a lot going on.
31:18Well, there's three different units.
31:20This is the most complex design.
31:22We have three of everything to get into this house.
31:25Three sets of cabinets, four bathrooms, finishes everywhere.
31:29And we have four days to finish this house.
31:46I don't know how we did it, but we made it to staging day.
31:49All of the final pieces are coming together, but this is a three living space property, so there's still a
31:55lot to do.
31:56Do you have any fake plants that dangle down?
31:59I do.
31:59I think that would be cute there.
32:01That's what I think.
32:02Perfect.
32:13Oh my gosh, Viv.
32:15What?
32:16My waterfall's here.
32:17Oh my gosh, is that what that thing is to me, you know?
32:20Yes.
32:21What did you buy?
32:23It's huge.
32:24It said waterfall in the backyard.
32:27Dude, we got a waterfall, baby.
32:30This is so rad.
32:31Right?
32:31Okay, I got something you can carry.
32:33Okay.
32:36No, it's not that heavy.
32:39I thought you just died.
32:45Straight back.
32:46Straight back.
32:47Straight back.
32:50Look at that!
32:52Woo!
32:53Woo!
32:53Let's go!
32:54Wow, babe.
32:55I'm impressed.
32:56Sick, right?
32:59Give Hummel High a round of applause.
33:11Cute.
33:12Looks good.
33:13I absolutely love it.
33:15This house is night and day from what it was.
33:18Top five worst houses.
33:21I'm very interested to hear what Sean thinks about it because there's definitely nothing
33:28like this that has ever sold within the last five years, so we're at the top of the market
33:35in this area.
33:37Speaking of Sean, he said he's not coming down the street.
33:40Well, let's go outside.
33:42Yep.
33:42Oh, wow.
33:44Look at this.
33:45Did it again.
33:46What's up, bud?
33:46How are you?
33:47How are you?
33:48Check it out.
33:49What a nice pop.
33:51The visual with the blue, white, and the wood comes together with the green.
33:55It's just a good combo.
33:56Honestly, I feel like the biggest transformation that we've had all year.
34:03There was rats in here.
34:05It was...
34:06This house is literally rats to riches.
34:08Like, it was not rags.
34:10Rats to riches.
34:11I absolutely love that.
34:12Yeah, you did a great job.
34:13You took the worst house in the street and transformed it to probably the best house
34:17in the whole neighborhood now.
34:19Sean, do you smell anything?
34:21I don't smell anything now.
34:23No.
34:23Good.
34:24Yeah.
34:24It's gone now.
34:25Not only did it look bad, but the second you stepped onto the driveway, you smelled like
34:31cat pee.
34:32Ooh.
34:32It was like they were using the yard as their litter box.
34:36Litter box.
34:36Mm-hmm.
34:37I think we start downstairs, the door you see right there.
34:40Okay.
34:40And...
34:41Are you ready?
34:42Let's see the inside.
34:43Let's go.
34:43Let's go.
34:44We gotta take you through all the others to lead you to the main event.
34:48Let's go.
34:49Door number one.
34:51Ready?
34:52Ta-da!
34:55Geez, look at the details.
34:56This felt like a dungeon.
35:00They utilized so many different colors, but they all come together.
35:02As you can see in here, we didn't hold anything back.
35:05Like, where are you gonna find custom two-tone cabs like this in a secondary living space?
35:12It's unassuming when you're coming downstairs, usually you don't get anything good with the
35:16lower ceilings and whatnot.
35:17But I think they'll be pleasantly surprised that, wow, this is like an extension of the
35:22main.
35:23Before, I didn't even want to be in here.
35:25And right here is where rat snows were falling from the ceiling.
35:30Everything was gutted and everything is brand new.
35:33You have three bedrooms down that hallway.
35:37Wow, you fit three.
35:38They feel really good size for a downstairs bedroom.
35:42And a beautiful, perfect-sized bathroom.
35:44Packed in a lot in this space.
35:46Yeah.
35:46Really well done.
35:48It's its own unit.
35:49It's its own living space.
35:51It still feels very elevated.
35:53This is just the beginning.
35:54Are you ready?
35:55Let's go.
35:57Right here.
35:58This is the designated laundry.
36:02Laundry room.
36:03How'd you fit this one in?
36:04What was here before?
36:05It was like a pass through to the next place we're going to take you.
36:09This is a single family house, but with multiple living spaces.
36:13We wanted a designated laundry that everybody could have access to.
36:19The location's perfect for it.
36:21It's pretty convenient.
36:22Let's move on.
36:23So this one's cool because you can't even tell it's here from driving up.
36:28To the house.
36:30Wow.
36:32Obviously, it's kind of staged like a lounge, be easy vibe.
36:36But it's 100% a studio with its own full bath.
36:41The multi-option always brings in more buyer pool.
36:44Is it a rental?
36:45Is it an office?
36:47But you wanted it to feel fun though.
36:49Yeah, I love the pop of color with the wallpaper.
36:51It's bold, but still cohesive to the other spaces.
36:53You got to have the dry bar so they can see that it's usable.
36:59Exactly.
36:59You know what I mean?
37:00Like it's giving kitchen without having a kitchen.
37:03It's like sophisticated jungle book.
37:05Yeah.
37:05That's what I'm coining it.
37:07I love it.
37:07That's it.
37:08This is your studio.
37:09This is your studio.
37:10We got one more.
37:11I will call it the main space.
37:13Let's go check it out.
37:14It's upstairs.
37:16Main event.
37:18There goes it.
37:19Door number four.
37:21Wow.
37:24Door number four.
37:26This is amazing.
37:28This tile welcomes you.
37:30And that's that same tile that ties everything in, but you got both tones.
37:33So good.
37:34It's a small area, but it's a big impact when you walk in.
37:37We have two bedrooms, one off the right, one off the left.
37:40Bedroom one.
37:41Wow.
37:42Stage as an office.
37:43And then you have second bedroom here.
37:45Now this originally was the kitchen.
37:49Wow.
37:49It was bad.
37:51It was small and gross.
37:53Turning that into this.
37:55Crazy.
37:57Transformation.
37:57Wow.
37:58It's wild.
37:59And then back on this side, you have the hall bath.
38:02Wow.
38:03Blue and cafeteria.
38:04Is this a different color than the floor?
38:07It all ties in.
38:08That's really good.
38:09And believe it or not, this side was actually the living room before.
38:12It's not a huge space and we needed to fit the three bedrooms, two bathrooms in it.
38:17But the only way to do that was to get rid of everything.
38:22And just scrap it and start all over.
38:24Right, right, right.
38:24Now it's the main living space.
38:26So you have living and kitchen.
38:28This is my favorite space of all the different doors.
38:32It was the main event, right?
38:32Check it all out.
38:34And this is the same piano tile as downstairs.
38:37Kind of like a fluted but a different tone.
38:39It's so soothing and subtle and jungly and fun.
38:43It works.
38:44The fixtures, everything ties in all the units so nicely.
38:46But super custom still.
38:48To be able to fit everything in, I think you did really well.
38:52What, you ready to go see the primary?
38:53Let's go.
38:54Yeah, we fit a primary in here.
38:57Oh, geez.
38:58This is...
38:58It's a good size.
39:00This is a good size.
39:00Yeah.
39:01Well, everything kind of flows.
39:02It checks every box.
39:03And then it has its own en-suite.
39:04You can see how we tied all the colors together.
39:07Oh.
39:08That's cool.
39:09So I wanted to tie in the coral to the wallpaper downstairs and go more fun with color.
39:16You know, because it's still in the neutral family.
39:18And then you have like the deepest shower ever.
39:20Look at this shower.
39:21Oh, wow.
39:21This is a good size shower.
39:23I don't know how you fit everything in.
39:25Oh, oh, oh.
39:26Amazing.
39:27This is only the inside of the house.
39:30We did some special things to the backyard.
39:33Yeah.
39:34Well, we can go through that door.
39:35Let's go check it out.
39:35Which makes it what?
39:36Door number five.
39:37Five or six.
39:38Door number five.
39:38Yeah.
39:40What?
39:42Are you kidding me?
39:43You got a full jungle here.
39:45I had no idea.
39:47This was not a yard before that you even wanted to be in.
39:52This was a glitter bomb.
39:53So now it's a place where you can actually see your kids playing.
39:59You can enjoy.
40:00Experience the jungle versus having it be overwhelming and overbearing on you.
40:04Beautiful.
40:05This is so rare because we're right in the pit of like busyness.
40:08This is the hub.
40:09And to have this.
40:10Right?
40:11It's such an offset.
40:12You do not tell for a minute that you're in a huge metro.
40:16It feels so private and secluded.
40:19So many buyers would kind of request that, but it's not always possible to find the perfect match.
40:24You're walking on brand new steps that never existed.
40:27It was really smart to tie it into the yard so you don't have to go through the front door.
40:30Right?
40:30Right.
40:31The water feature, pergola.
40:32Are you kidding me?
40:33Yeah.
40:34We really wanted this backyard to feel like a private oasis to tie into this beautiful jungle right behind your
40:42house.
40:42You nailed it.
40:44I mean, you can't pay for something like this.
40:46So good.
40:47Yeah.
40:47Unbelievable.
40:48Good, good, good.
40:49Yeah.
40:50This one was tough.
40:51It was a tough house to actually renovate because of the condition, but it was also hard to figure out
40:59numbers on it.
41:00I'm interested to hear what you think.
41:02We were actually around 1-4 possibly plus before I walked it.
41:08Yeah.
41:08And before I knew there was a third unit.
41:10Right.
41:11So once I heard about that, then we're thinking we're closer to the 1-4-5 and possibly close to
41:175 actually, which is uncharacteristic in this neighborhood to find this price point.
41:22But what you've done is not the typical, right?
41:25Right.
41:25I am happy to hear that you have landed around that area.
41:30I would feel comfortable at like 1-4-9-0.
41:35Yeah.
41:35Let's let the market do its thing.
41:37Let's go.
41:37Rats to riches.
41:39Yep.
41:39Rats to riches.
41:47Hello, everybody.
41:48We have an opportunity to bless this holly.
42:03All right.
42:04All right.
42:05All right.
42:07All right.
42:07All right.
42:08Beautiful.
42:08It's beautiful.
42:09You're always beautiful.
42:10Good.
42:11All right.
42:12This house was a crazy ride from the cat pee smell to the rats to the crazy tsunami warning.
42:21It's a miracle we got through it.
42:23So we listed the property at 1.49 million.
42:27Oh, wow.
42:28It's so private back here.

42:37We had multiple offers right away.
42:40And we decided to go with an offer at 1.475 to a family that was looking for a multi

42:48And if we close on this property, we'll make a profit of $200,000.
42:54That's huge.
42:55And we made another great home for a deserving family.
