00:12championship and here is the 18th hole Keegan calls this his fifth major New
00:19Englander grew up in Vermont who attended this tournament as a young boy hoping
00:25and dreaming one day he would make his life out here can he deliver one here at

00:38Bradley's got a chance here and the crowd knows it yeah crowds warming up to that
00:42idea Keegan Bradley is playing some of the best golf of his career like a mini
00:47Ryder Cup moment right now the better that Keegan Bradley plays the bigger the
00:52question becomes will he be a playing captain at the Ryder Cup Bradley wins it
00:58with this putt or if he misses it would be a three-way playoff

01:35Keegan Bradley's in kind of a difficult spot got tough decisions to make it's a
01:40challenge I'm sure it's a challenge for him he's in a different scenario in a
01:44different headspace than any Ryder Cup captain's probably ever been in

01:49let's just imagine you're the captain and we're looking at a player objectively
01:52he's eighth in the world with a bullet by the way he's probably gonna go up to
01:55sixth or fifth he finished eighth in the PGA he finished seventh in the memorial
01:58he just won the travels and rich does he does he have the crowd on his side
02:02fires up the crowd went to St. John's knows that page black right there this
02:06guy's got the crowd right I'd be taking a hard look at that guy you gotta I mean this
02:12definitely changes things I don't want to do the team an injustice by not
02:16considering playing if I think it can help us I'm not sure it does or will or if I
02:22will play but I'm gonna do what I think is best for the team

03:11everyone was always talking about me being a player captain but my one rule was I'm not even
03:16going to consider this unless I win and then travelers that moment definitely
03:23made me go all right we I can't be so closed off to this I have to be ready in
03:27case I have to play
03:29so much within our marriage that's unspoken that we just know the win at travelers it's like okay
03:36I guess we gotta maybe start thinking about the possibility that this could happen you have a
03:45chance here to become a playing captain for the first time and I think it's been 62 years since that
03:51last happened in a Ryder Cup when you think about what makes Keegan Bradley a great leader it
03:57really is what has made him a great player his entire life there is nobody more competitive this
04:03is a guy from the northeast who has spent his entire life with a chip on his shoulder whether
04:09it's made up or not that's the way he plays like people are always counting him out people are always
04:15doubting his abilities and he always wants to answer that bell nobody loves representing the northeast
04:21more than Keegan Bradley does when I got this job and I didn't have the vice captains the thought of
04:28playing was ridiculous now that I have this group of guys that could all step in and be the captain
04:34at
04:34any moment if I was to play I would lean on them a lot Keegan Bradley may have the hardest
04:42captain job
04:43to date you go ahead and rest close your hands on top yeah help me one another it's not just
04:49his own game
04:50that he has to worry about Keegan also has to watch everyone else play and assess who's going to earn
04:56these last six spots on his team and right now the options are wide open
05:05he wants someone who's fiery and he wants someone who's not going to shy away from the big moment
05:11because this moment is as big as it gets

06:14chris gotter announces himself to the world at the scottish open here he is on foreign soil he's
06:20playing against specifically everyone that's going to be on the european rider cup team
06:25that's like hmm wait a minute this this seems like a guy that would be a really good fit
06:32chris gotter he's won once on the pga tour he's one clear of big names mckelroy fitzpatrick and rose
06:43he's a great position right now
06:46oh wow this gorgeous shot by godderup and what a massive opportunity for chris godderup
06:57oh right in the middle you got the win at middle beach last year but this would be huge career
07:05changing winning is one thing but thoroughly trouncing the europeans on their own soil that kind of
07:13performance puts you on the map as a potential rider cup pick this is taking on mcelroy and beating
07:18him head to head in the final round and golf has a new up and comer you may not have
07:29recognized the
07:29name at the beginning of the week but you're not gonna forget it now i held it together really well
07:35and man it was so much fun out there we can hear the emotion in your voice why
07:48i don't know if we'll be able to get it out but um everyone at home
07:55i don't know but i mean it's just awesome
08:00i think i'm from new jersey golf wise it's not the mecca of pga tour professional golf it's cool to
08:09carry what i can you know by playing well and and representing new jersey and the northeast as a whole
08:15chris godderup is such a breath of fresh air on the pga tour and he came in late but listen
08:21he's a jersey
08:22shore boy when do we ever have jersey shore guys coming out on the pga tour right chris godderup is
08:29new to the scene came on sort of late in the year here i find it fascinating he went to
08:33rutgers i played
08:34at st john's we were in the big east together at the time i used to play the rutgers tournament
08:37all the
08:37time really talented player hits it really far great short game he wasn't really on our radar to start
08:43the year at all and then won the scottish open and then played really well at the british open
08:48it built a lot of confidence in me that i was able to go compete against some of the best
08:53in the
08:53world and on a big stage so keegan said the last couple weeks you have to go out there and
08:59leave no
08:59doubt keegan's definitely looking at guys who are a lot like himself guys with that northeastern grit
09:15guys who have a similar chip on their shoulder the types of guys who have felt overlooked in past
09:23rider cups cameron young is golf royalty in terms of northern part of new york in the westchester county
09:32i believe they're referred to as the first family of golf i'm gonna go one-handed coffee putting
09:40oh god you guys get that one i grew up the son of a pga head professional it's in new
09:47york sleepy hollow
09:48country club so my family was was in the business and i basically was brought home from the hospital
09:54and put in a golf cart and uh never looked back cameron young has a mantle full of first place
10:01trophies
10:02from 2012 alone to make that rider cup team it's been something circled on my calendar basically since
10:08it was announced when i was in high school that it was going to be at that venue at beth
10:11page
10:12that place is somewhere i have loved from a very young age i was taken to watch the u.s
10:18open there when
10:19was a little kid and then our state open was there every year cameron young's the guy who won basically
10:24every amateur event there was to win in new york including when he was much younger i think a
10:29teenager he set the course record at beth page black in the state open green is so fast
10:35i actually see similarities with cameron and i cameron is going to the golf course with a goal he's going
10:43to
10:43accomplish that goal and leave he's not there to socialize and i think that maybe has held him back
10:49from maybe making some of the other teams 2023 i got passed over i think from ninth on the points

10:55cam hey um thanks for taking the call given where we are it just felt like this was the right

11:03at the time i took it pretty hard uh it didn't didn't feel good to be left off from that
11:08position
11:08similar to keegan i know he was in i think 11th or 12th it hurt at the time but i
11:13think looking back
11:14i was playing okay but nothing spectacular cameron young is an unbelievable story the beginning part
11:21of his season was lackluster to say the least i think he missed six out of his first 11 cuts
11:27that's not going to do it in a rider cup year
11:32and then he starts to find something
11:40in record fashion cameron young wins the wyndham championship of 2025 his first victory on the pga
11:47tour after seven second place finishes where do i go i've never done this before congratulations
11:56you know keegan had called me after wyndham and said hey buddy you know great plan but i need to
12:01see a
12:01lot more it's a once in a lifetime opportunity to represent your country in your home state and a
12:07place that i have some history at he knows this golf course like the back of his hand so if
12:12there
12:12is a decision do we want to bring cameron young that could be something that puts his candidacy over
12:18the top is his familiarity with the area tour championships coming up that event is just a huge
12:24opportunity to cement myself in the question for rider cup to make that team would be one of the greatest
12:31accomplishments of my career welcome back to another tour championship here at east lake we are here in
12:42atlanta for the tour championship it's it's crunch time for the rider cup six guys already know on the
12:47american side that they're going to be on the team at beth page black and then there's these six captain's
12:52picks that are going to be made on tuesday so keegan bradley has a lot to chew on this week
12:57all the picks are tough we're going to do the best we can and it's going to be controversial to
13:02certain people either way you've got guys who i feel like i've done enough to earn their spot
13:06justin thomas and paul morikawa i don't think you're ever comfortable until you get that call
13:11and you're on the team and then you know there's there's other guys who are on the bubble
13:17and we're looking at guys that we know can handle the situation can handle the rider cup pressure
13:22and obviously this year it's a unique situation because keegan bradley is one of the guys that
13:27keegan bradley is thinking about picking you said this is the hardest decision of your life you're
13:31talking about possibly picking yourself that decision yeah when the captain has to impress
13:36the captain that's when it gets to be a really interesting situation it's a really strange thing to
13:42to kind of ponder you know making the picks and then thinking about picking yourself it's like
13:48ridiculous patrick cantley's in that conversation sam burns cameron young brian harman ben griffin
13:57has been a breakout star this year on the pga tour maverick mcneely i feel like had fallen outside
14:04the conversation and then just played his way right back in it with a third place at the bmw last
14:09week
14:10so he's in that limbo too there's like five or six guys for two spots right now chris godderup needs
14:17to do something special at east lake i think to really be a serious contender for one of those
14:22final spots really frog in the car maybe that's like a luck thing that means something
14:33i'll take the good the good vibes yeah i think that good omen
14:39yeah so the european team is interesting it seems like it's going to be the same core group
14:46maybe 11 out of the 12 guys from 2023 they've got the guys that are mathematically qualified
14:51including justin rose who just won two weeks ago and justin rose wins the fedex saint jude
14:59championship team europe is geared up for the rider cup but there's one guy that still has some
15:03unfinished business tommy fleetwood is still chasing his first pga tour win and this is his last chance
15:10of the year other than maybe a major is this like the ultimate place to have your first win i
15:15think
15:15this would be i think it would be pretty funny if i won this week and then at the fedex
15:19club as well
15:20um i think that would be funny but um no i'm not going to be picky
15:43you're going full shots i just hit a little wedge i like it
15:52you know we're not going to be picky but i'm not going to be picky but i'm not going to

15:52we now live in dubai we opened up an academy here and we just felt like it was an opportunity
15:57to move
15:58really we'd always lived in the uk and i think we're always just open-minded about you know we'll
16:06give it a go we'll move out to dubai put the kids in school we've got the academy you know
16:10four
16:11years and counting and we're still going and it's been amazing for us that really didn't sound good
16:20that's good i've just hired him as a performance director for my golf so he's gonna do his best
16:29to try and help me out tommy fleetwood was a top junior golfer in england he turned professional in
16:362010. not only did he win on the european tour but he also delivered points for the european rider cup
16:42team everybody knows how talented tommy fleetwood is so why hasn't he won on the pga tour tommy
16:51fleetwood he'll have plenty more chances he must be just a little deflated today second is the best
16:58they can do it's my second runner up in a major which is um which is great and i'm trending
17:04in the
17:04right way i just hope my time will come eventually here is fleetwood this to be no worse than in
17:12a
17:13playoff oh my goodness absolute heartbreak for tommy fleetwood incomprehensible in a lot of ways
17:25what is the burden of trying to get that first pga tour win feel like obviously there's a lot of
17:30chat
17:30about it i i think um i would have looked to have done it today um search goes on i
17:37guess when it
17:38happens it'll be very very sweet and now tommy fleetwood outside of seven feet i think this is
17:45for six one putts in a row oh my gosh terrible putt unbelievable there are a lot of tommy fleetwood
17:52fans out there who are absolutely crushed right now your optimism is something that fans really
17:59continue to admire truly um where it is where do you draw that from and how does it continue to
18:04drive you uh well as long as they uh stay with me and stay on my side then we can
18:08all uh we can all
18:09look for the positives tommy has had some really tough losses and uh you know i was trying to message
18:15him a bunch of times throughout that process that you know it's putting yourselves in those positions
18:20and learning from what you did well and what you didn't do well is a really strong thing as long
18:26as you frame it the right way i'm well aware of like the story that's building of not one on
18:34the
18:34pj tour and i've had these chances and haven't closed things out so i'm aware of all that stuff
18:39but once something's happened there's nothing you can do about it you can just deal with what happens
18:43next sometimes it's very difficult but you just have to force yourself mentally to accept what's
18:47happened and then crack on obviously there's been some times that we'd rather would go a different
18:55way but this season he's he's got a lot closer he's always going to believe in himself being a pga
19:02tour winner but i think he looks really close
19:09overcast skies continue over the city of atlanta as we say good morning from east lake and the second
19:14round of the tour championship to decide the fedex cup 232 for ben griffin
19:23oh what a shot another guy looking for that ryder cup pick this is the 12th and the second for
19:29mcneely off to a slow start yesterday trying to bring things back mcneely now 10th to ryder cup points
19:38yeah a lot of guys out there trying to get captain keegan bradley's attention this week
19:43cameron young in the fairway from 125
19:48the location tucked on that front right here
19:52keegan bradley to get it to five under
19:55oh yeah which made some long ones the last couple of days including three in a row what's going through
20:01that brain of his right now a lot couple more days to those six picks for the ryder cup
20:06at 14 gotterup trying to keep this run going he has really gotten into gear after the first round
20:12there's some late break there that gets him to six under for the day chris gotterup has raced up the
20:19board with those six birdies meanwhile cameron young on the t at 11 with a six iron
20:27for this hole location where you have to fly it over and hopefully stop it
20:30oh like that it's just like that fleetwood looking for a lengthy birdie unlikely putt to make but
20:38giving it a run unlikely you say that hit the back of the hole up by two tommy fleetwood it's
20:46gonna
20:46be a big weapon for the european players and the europeans will be heavy favorites at the ryder cup
20:54so
20:54tommy's just been rolling through the playoffs but still hasn't broken through
21:02yeah yeah very light but i think's enough
21:09talk about a disappointment in memphis for fleetwood the latest of the disappointments he let wouldn't get
21:15away at the Travelers and how crazy it would be if Fleetwood was able to break through at this
21:22Tour Championship you know you're down to the last event and you really want to get off to a good
21:34start early on in my career I would get to the end of the season and I would always be
21:39pretty
21:39tired you start playing a bit poorly like your attitude kind of drops you get a bit angry at
21:43things and they're just waiting for the season to finish and I remember looking at the very very
21:47best players and they always seemed so like fresh and ready like all the way to the very end yeah
21:52beautiful speed there so I remember watching them and I thought you know I need to work on that like
21:56I need to that's where I need to be and I'm always striving to be one of the best players
22:0964-63 for Fleetwood Fleetwood and Henley share the lead at the halfway mark
22:25I'm already trying to channel everything I can into this week getting the call from Keegan saying
22:31I'm in would be an incredible vote of confidence it would be an incredible responsibility to
22:37compete for an entire country that's rooting for us to kick their asses so I hope that I can
22:43play well enough to earn that spot
22:56when I think of the Ryder Cup and you know the magnitude of it and it's hard to not make
23:01it a
23:01bigger deal than what it is but you know I try to do my best
23:14it's not like I'm playing scared here in these last couple weeks to make it at the start of the
23:19year if you said Ryder Cup I'd be like I have no chance I mean unless I go catch fire
23:24and I did that
23:25and you know hopefully finish this week off strong and have a chance
23:31when I'm feeling pretty good I feel like I've kind of got it in my hands and I think having
23:37a good
23:38finish opens up just my mind to the fact that I can do it anywhere and it's just a really
23:44good
23:45proving ground for you know what kind of mental toughness you can bring to the table which is
23:49obviously essential in those team events all right oh our acs are off they are off oh no I feel

24:00I still need to prove a lot this week at the tour championship there's a lot of things going through
24:05Keegan's mind right now I'm sure but all I know is I have to continue to play exceptionally high
24:10level golf and prove to Keegan that he should have no doubt in picking me what is this thing it's

24:24rounds
24:25I put on I can't take you seriously we buy like Halloween costumes is this what I look like when
24:32I do this so I've been oh my god that is bright yeah what does it do it's supposed to
24:38brighten your
24:40your complexion you know I was out there on the 12th hole today I was like man my complexion just
24:45doesn't feel right and I knew I just after the round I needed to put this on
24:53thinking about this all day you look crazy
24:58today live third round coverage of the tour championship
25:03well the question looms again is this the week for Tommy Fleetwood
25:08important weekend for everybody especially this man Ben Griffin at seven under trying to change that
25:14you got this which is huge and then of course that little event at the end of september the rider
25:19cup this is the final opportunity for those captains picks this week cam young he's involved in that
25:26rider cup discussion he's uh high up in a lot of nice categories fourth best and scoring average on
25:33par fours something rider cup captains look at and here is the captain
25:41they're like you gotta make birdie on this hole
25:44today especially gonna use that slope perfectly and go in oh man the captain
25:52he's got to pick himself now i don't know how he's doing it i mean the decisions and he's playing
25:58this caliber at golf it's amazing being the captain is my number one job i think i've done a good
26:04job of
26:05separating myself as a player when i'm inside the ropes playing i'm not the captain i'm a player you know
26:12this is where i can let that aspect of my life sort of fade a little bit Bradley trying to
26:17get it to 11
26:17under and then as soon as i leave the ropes i have to resume my role as captain
26:23he's got that confident walk going there that little strut that keegan Bradley has when he's
26:28playing well he's got the bounce in the step right now too
26:33that's a birdie finish for Bradley and a 63. yeah try not to pick me
26:41seriously
26:44maverick mcneely for birdie it's a tough one here not easy to match up line and speed goes hard left
26:49at the hole gave it a little bit too much too much speed too much break
26:55chris got her up here at the six this is for birdie slow putt up the hill here not what
27:00you
27:00would like at the sixth hole easiest hole on the golf course but it'll do it four on the scorecard
27:08back over to 15. yeah he's on the left side of the tee box expecting to use this wind
27:15hung out to the right hates it i think it's wet
27:21not even close wouldn't have got there
27:26at some point you're just thinking nothing is going to be easy for me
27:30like a terrible swing hit in the water made double bogey but whatever shot you've just hit
27:35there's no point in allowing that to make the next one even worse all right fleetwood from that
27:40bunker oh stay stay oh it's on the edge there's that big slope to the right and it just hangs

27:51i was sure it was going down that massive slope little things like that that go your way i always
27:57feel so important you've got to tip your hat to him for playing such an aggressive second shot coming
28:03off the double wow that is what you call a bounce back
28:10the heck of a comeback after that bubble man can't say enough about it but that's been tommy
28:16through it all every tournament he goes to he's asked about it when are you going to win
28:24i'm in the lead again there's opportunities that have gone before that i've missed or not won
28:31tournaments when i feel like i could have tommy's one of my best mates on tour you know he is
28:38the best
28:39i want this one for tommy he's already paid his dues he's suffered a couple of tricky defeats and um
28:45he's ready for the big time i've obviously known tommy a long time he's mr nice guy but i think
28:52you
28:53have to be like a bit of a killer in you and i think he has that and his game
28:57is unbelievable
28:58and he's showing that now and best is probably yet to come for him i'm in the exact position where
29:04everybody else wants to be when they tear up that week my image is good focus is good like i'm
29:09playing
29:10very well and i've got to the end of the pj season and i feel great i'm excited and nervous
29:16and
29:16everything that you should be when you're in contention it all comes down to this with 18 holes
29:25left to play it's the last day of the season nothing to see
29:35the feel good story of the playoffs tommy fleetwood with a two-shot lead over the field
29:43at the first maverick mcneely there's a guy that may be in the ryder cup talks now that certainly
29:50doesn't help that is inbounds by the skin of his teeth go back to the ninth now and chris got
29:57her up
29:58ton of speed which will help him elevate this ball to this tuck pin wow what a shot by got
30:06her up
30:10chris got her up a couple of birdies today meanwhile we'll check in cam young at 13. time to start
30:18getting aggressive at this point great shot
30:24think of all those guys pursuing cam young is looking the best just needs to see a few more butts
30:29go in now that was a golden opportunity for cam cam cameron young trying to save his par
30:39i just can't make it and that has been the story of the day for cameron young that putter that
30:44has
30:44been so good all year long has just left him and there's the captain who can't be paying attention
30:50to cam young today it's a must make now if you're keegan bradley untimely bogey
31:01just can't have any indecision over this golf ball you gotta know exactly what you're trying to do

31:13the contenders continue to drop fleetwood to extend the lead
31:22oh he just keeps answering the bell let's go tommy three clear
31:32now cameron young for birdie at the 18th and a round of 66
31:39glad enough to play your way to beth page it doesn't hurt
31:45tommy fleetwood walks to the 72nd hole with a three shot lead
31:55if you're a tommy fleetwood fan in the back of your mind you might have thought no this this is
32:01too good to be true this this can't come true here
32:07you've missed out so many times either you've hit a poor shot at the wrong time or you've not
32:12done the right things to finish this one off or somebody's done something crazy and beat you
32:17when you've missed out that many times like it just never feels like it's done
32:27like any normal person i get disappointed i get sad i get angry but at the same time i think
32:34experiences are there to learn from and i think i have a good awareness of there's no point making
32:39things a negative experience you just have to learn from everything and try and do the best you can
32:46come from that justin rose shane lowry they're not going anywhere they want to see this happen

33:00i had my hand like this or something or like that and i said i was just holding my lip
33:04because my bottom
33:05lip was going i was getting really emotional
33:09it all sets in it's like oh my god he's actually gonna do it he's actually gonna do it
33:16finna handed me the putter when i walked onto the green i'd have loved to have like
33:19giving each other a smile or something and i was just like so focused on just trying to finish this

33:27the build up here for tommy fleetwood as the stage is cleared the agonizing wait is over fleetwood
33:37finally for everything the fedex cup title
33:54being able to hug oscar i mean it's easy saying like have the right attitude say the right things and
33:59do
33:59the right things but it's also like you want proof that the good stuff will happen as well
34:04so to be able to show him that that was really really sweet and moving
34:32watching the europeans celebrate tommy's tour championship win you can't help but thank
34:38i think that is a stacked team in terms of his captain's picks he has to make some heartbreaking
34:46decisions i honestly can't imagine the pressure that keegan bradley is under
34:54you know back july year prior when we've signed on for this it was
35:03this elephant dark shadow and our our orbits of like that's coming where you're going to be the
35:12guy making those calls and we know how much we wanted to be a part of these teams

41:33he's literally the perfect captain for this rider cup he brings the most energy for that region than
41:39any other golfer he had to sacrifice so much and i felt for him really badly but now they're ready

41:46out there and fight for keegan and for the country and for each other
