00:17New Orleans 9-1-1, this location of emergency.
00:32I saw a guy, it seemed like he was arguing with somebody.
00:36I heard a couple of shots and I saw a blue car zoom off.
00:40OK.
00:40Thank you so much for calling.
00:42Let him know.
00:42I think he might still be breathing.
00:46And it's an additional caller.
00:47There was a blue vehicle, no maker model provided, fled from the location.
00:51The victim's in the block, black male, wearing a green jacket.
00:54Shut up.
00:59You got shot at Legma, man?
01:01Cold floor for you, man.
01:02Where's the person who shot him?
01:03Congo.
01:04OK.
01:04Black male, multiple gunshot, one at the lower extremity.
01:08I need you all to back up.
01:10I don't know who it is yet.
01:12Just back up, man.
01:14Let him do their thing.
01:15I'm going to grab this guy.
01:17It's a game station, man.
01:18Play with you.
01:19It's already with the volume of blue car.
01:21I would be advised, you've been an auto-conscious one.
01:43I'm headed to the lower night board, see if I can locate any witnesses, any cameras.
01:52The 5th District stayed a heap.
01:54The male subject was involved in a verbal argument earlier today with someone, but I need to
02:00find out how they got that information.
02:06I've been living in the Ninth War my whole entire life.
02:10And when I joined the police department, guess what my first assignment was?
02:14The 5th District, the Ninth War.
02:18We call it the hot nickel because it was always on and popping in the 5th District.
02:23This is a district you come where you want to learn how to be the police.
02:38Hello.
02:40I'll be your primary.
02:41You're going to be primary?
02:42Yep.
02:43So it happened in this block?
02:44Right here, yeah.
02:45And when we got here, he was laying there, he was moving.
02:47And once I asked him his name, that's when he called me.
02:51Any witnesses?
02:53Apparently, I put it on the paper.
02:55Okay.
02:56Apparently see a blue vehicle speeding away, but not the shooting.
03:01Okay.
03:02They have a lot of shell casings?
03:03Yeah.
03:05Arriving on the scene, I'm observing a bicycle, a cell phone, and multiple shell casings
03:14on the scene.
03:16Wow.
03:19Looking at the scene in all of these casings, I'm shocked that he even survived at first.
03:25I would think he passed away on scene.
03:30Where would this, where was this altercation earlier?
03:33Where y'all got that information from?
03:35Oh, .
03:36He said he got into an altercation with someone in a blue car.
03:40I'm hearing that the victim may have gotten into an argument with someone at a nearby gas
03:45station in that block down the street.
03:48That's the gas station, I think?
03:49Yes.
03:50You want me to go over there?
03:51Yeah.
03:52Yeah, I'll go.
03:52And after the argument, that person may have followed the victim and shot him up.
03:58The 5th District detectives that were on the scene are going to the gas station to see
04:04if any incidents did occur and see if they have surveillance cameras.
04:09Unfortunately, you can't see the body, so can't tell if he, like, stood over him and shot.
04:14Maurice was going to the hospital.
04:16He said Charlie was going to go.
04:18Okay.
04:20At this time, Detective Hill is at the hospital talking to the victim's family.
04:25It's important that they know that we're on this case looking for the suspects.
04:30What's the icon's information?
04:33Aaron Lewis.
04:34Okay.
04:37My victim's name is Aaron Lewis.
04:40He was a young man about to turn 23.
04:44Aaron Lewis doesn't have a criminal history.
04:47My job is to find Aaron Lewis' killer and bring justice to his family.
04:59Hey.
05:01Hey.
05:01We at the store right now.
05:03And I asked him if anything happened.
05:06He said that the victim did come to the store.
05:10But he didn't know anything about, like, a 103 or anything like that.
05:14The cameras will last seven days.
05:16He's the only one that operates, and he's not here right now.
05:20Okay.
05:20What's his name?
05:21Well, I should have it in my phone, and I'll just text it to you.
05:24Okay.
05:25All right.
05:27All right.
05:32What about this house on this bench right there?
05:34Is that a camera?
05:36What about that house right there?
05:38Oh.
05:38See that little dot right there over that light?
05:40That little camera?
05:41Oh, he is.
05:41You want to go over there?
05:42Mm-hmm.
05:43All right.
05:48Hello.
05:49N.O.P.D.
05:51Hi.
05:52Hey, how you doing?
05:53Hey, I hate to disturb you.
05:54I'm a detective store.
05:55This is my partner.
05:56We're investigating what happened on the street right there,
05:58and I see you have cameras.
05:58No, my cameras don't work at all.
06:00They don't work?
06:00Okay.
06:13Who?
06:14How you doing, sir?
06:15I'm Detective Marshall with the New Orleans Police Department.
06:18So I've been looking at some of my videos that I've got,
06:21and it looks like we may have had a shooting.
06:23Yeah, do you have that footage?
06:25I do.
06:26Oh, excellent, excellent.
06:28Is there a way you can email me that?
06:30Okay.
06:31You have a pen and paper where you can take down
06:33my contact information?
06:35I sure do.
06:37Often, we don't get this lucky.
06:39We normally have to hunt down surveillance cameras
06:43and cross your fingers that you would get a homeowner
06:45that's willing to give you that information.
06:48I appreciate you so much .
06:50I know you're out of time.
06:52Bye-bye.
07:03Hey, Wayne.
07:05This story with Homicide.
07:06Hey, do you have any burned vehicles out there in the East?
07:11In New Orleans, a lot of people torch cars, Jews in a crime,
07:14so I want to be notified for any cars that are set on fire.
07:19Is it recently burned?
07:21So, 440?
07:22Okay, yeah, that's pretty recent.
07:24What's the plate again?
07:26Do an LPR run for it?
07:29Yeah, send me a picture about it.
07:30All right, thanks.
07:36This car had just been set on fire, not far from the crime scene.
07:40Mm.
07:41What was it coming back to?
07:42I don't know yet.
07:44What are these LPR reads, bro?
07:47RTCC.
07:48How'd you guys end up getting the plate number first?
07:50So, this car was set on fire, and the seven-ditch roof was called out.
07:53Oh, then you got that.
07:53And, yeah, Detective Lewis went out there, and he sent me the plate.
07:58Maurice was able to request license plate reads, and that vehicle was previously in the Lower
08:05Nine Ward, and then was now in the Eastburn.
08:08That's possibly the same vehicle that was used in my homicide.
08:16Oh, just sent me the video.
08:20All right, you ready?
08:21Mm-hmm.
08:24That's the vehicle standing there.
08:28All right, I'm gonna touch it.
08:29We'll make it big for you.
08:35Yeah, that's definitely the car.
08:37Oh, damn.
08:43Looks like his gun probably jammed.
08:47He got it fixed.
08:49That's why he came back.
08:51That's all the kill.
08:52Yeah.
08:54Look, he's still shooting.
08:57Wow.
09:01Watching the video, I see the shooter exits the passenger side,
09:06and immediately starts firing towards Aaron Lewis.
09:10The gunman was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, so you're not able to see a face.
09:17But the sweatshirt has some distinctive graphics on the back and both arms.
09:22So that could be very helpful later.
09:27And I'm looking at this video, and I notice the firearm sticks out.
09:33It's a black firearm with an extended magazine coming out the bottom.
09:38And the magazine had either some white tape around it, or it was spray painted white.
09:45And then I see the shooter get in the front passenger side of the vehicle, and the vehicle pulls off.
09:54That means I'm looking for at least two people involved in this homicide, the shooter and whoever else is driving.
10:12Thank y'all. I appreciate y'all.
10:15All right.
10:23Another senseless murder.
10:26I'm gonna go to the office and at least reach out to the mother of the victim.
10:34Thankfully, there is video capturing the whole incident.
10:39For the shooter to walk up to the victim, shoot, walk back to the car, walk back to the victim
10:44and shoot some more.
10:46Oh, that's personal.
10:48They wanted to make sure he was dead.
10:55Author.
10:56What's up, T? I'm working on your notes right now.
10:58All right. Thank you. Appreciate it.
11:01While we were out there, we were notified that 7 District located a burned vehicle.
11:08The same color vehicle as my, that was used in my homicide.
11:13Behind the. Behind the, yeah.
11:14Vehicle. Blue. Same, same vehicle. It's the same vehicle.
11:18Man, so they burned that quick.
11:19I wonder how bad the vehicle was burned.
11:21My understanding they were getting a vehicle towed here.
11:24I have a plate and I have a registration on a vehicle.
11:28And the vehicle was stolen.
11:30The significance of having a license plate is, it shows that, that is the same license plate that was observed
11:37on a license plate reader,
11:39leaving the Lower Ninth Ward, heading towards the east.
11:43So they went from the Lower Ninth Ward in the vehicle out to the east and burned it out there?
11:48Yes, Michoud. Michoud and Adventure place?
11:53By my homicide.
11:55How, cameras around there?
11:57At, an RTCC camera at Adventure.
12:00Oh really?
12:01Plate reader too.
12:03Mm-mm.
12:04Yeah, there's a plate reader that comes, um, it'll catch it if it's coming back into Michoud.
12:11Typing up you some notes from the hospital?
12:13How is the family?
12:14They're distraught.
12:16They were cutting up at the hospital.
12:18They really wanted to see the body, which of course we didn't let them do that.
12:22There were a total of 30 shell casings on the scene, but Aaron Lewis was shot six times.
12:29I got the mom's number for you, the dad's number.
12:31Thank you, Charlie. I really appreciate it.
12:35I'm about to call her now.
12:39Call has been forwarded to voicemail.
12:42Try the dad.
12:43Okay.
12:47The hardest part about being a homicide detective is speaking with the family members of the victim.
12:56Hello?
12:57How you doing, sir? This is Detective Marshall with the New Orleans Police Supporting Homicide Unit.
13:02Yes, how you doing?
13:03I'm okay. I was calling to give my condolences.
13:07I'm gonna be the lead detective that's handling this case for your son.
13:10Yes, ma'am.
13:13Aaron Lewis's father tells me that Aaron Lewis had a thriving sneaker business.
13:19He was loved by the community and seemed to have a bright future ahead of him.
13:23Where does he live?
13:26And he was staying with his girlfriend in the east somewhere.
13:29Okay.
13:30They have a child together.
13:32In the Orleans East?
13:33Yeah.
13:34You know if he was involved in any altercations with anyone or beefing with anyone?
13:39No, ma'am.
13:42Okay.
13:45Well, if I hear anything, I'll let you know.
13:48Do you know why he would be in a night war if he doesn't live?
13:52Something.
13:52I'm not sure we do it like that.
13:54But, um, again, I'll keep your family in my prayers and I'm sorry for your loss.
14:00Yes, ma'am.
14:01You did a good job.
14:02I don't, I don't, I just went fast.
14:06Aaron Lewis had a family that loved him and is hurting badly now that he's gone.
14:12Thank you so much.
14:13I'll call you back if I have any other questions or just, you have my number.
14:17Just call me if you have any also.
14:19Okay.
14:20All right.
14:21Bye-bye.
14:22All right.
14:45We need to go to the gas station.
14:48I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there is something that I can find video-wise.
14:54That would be very big if I observed a confrontation with subjects in that blue vehicle.
15:01You know, a lot of people, they don't want to talk to the police.
15:04But you have to get them thinking, like, what if it was you or someone in your family, you would
15:10want justice.
15:13The hot nickel.
15:16And it's still hot.
15:20The gas station has cameras.
15:26Hello.
15:27How are you?
15:28My name is Detective Marsha.
15:29I'm with the New Orleans Police Department.
15:31Yes.
15:31That's my partners, Detective Guerreri and Ripley.
15:34How y'all doing?
15:35How you doing?
15:35So your cameras work?
15:37Yes.
15:37So I'm investigating an incident that occurred yesterday with a shooting.
15:43My understanding the victim was here prior to the shooting and an incident occurred.
15:49I don't know if it was inside the store or outside in the parking lot.
15:52One of my customers, he was walking from there all the way to here.
15:56So he said he was arguing with somebody down there, somebody with a blue car.
16:01Okay.
16:02Yes, not here.
16:03An employee did advise that Aaron Lewis was in the store prior to his murder, but no incidents occurred at
16:11the store.
16:11Can I review your video?
16:13Yeah, I can show it to you.
16:15Okay.
16:18This is when he left the store with a bicycle.
16:24Do you have any other footage before then?
16:27Yeah, when he's inside, I can show it to you.
16:32I'm looking at the video surveillance, and it shows that Aaron Lewis came in the store, made a purchase, talked,
16:41and he left out.
16:43And I don't see any incidents at all.
16:49Okay.
16:51We appreciate y'all.
16:53All right.
16:58All right, what's the game plan?
16:59We want to start in this block?
17:00Yeah.
17:01You see a camera somewhere?
17:02I see a camera somewhere.
17:03Oh, yeah.
17:03This house?
17:05Yeah.
17:05Come on.
17:06Let's walk over.
17:10Hi.
17:11How you doing, sir?
17:12I'm Detective Marshall with the New Orleans Police Department, and I noticed you have cameras.
17:17Do they work?
17:17No.
17:18I have a camera, and I'm working.
17:20Okay.
17:21Okay.
17:28Hello.
17:29My name's Detective Riffle.
17:31This is my partner, Tiani.
17:32How you doing?
17:33Sorry to bother y'all.
17:34I'm sorry to bother y'all.
17:36We're investigating a shooting that happened down the street yesterday.
17:39Are your cameras working?
17:41Yeah.
17:42Do you want us to follow you back here?
17:43Yeah.
17:43Okay.
17:46As we're looking at the video, we observed Aaron Lewis coming from the direction of the
17:53gas station on his bicycle.
17:57A car pulls on the side of him, and it appears they talked to each other, but it's not the
18:03vehicle that was used in the homicide.
18:06And then my victim pulls off right into the next block where he was ultimately killed.
18:14Okay.
18:17So, we know number one, he was here, but nothing happened.
18:22Number two, whatever did happen, happened from here to where the shooting took place.
18:29It's very frustrating, but we have to keep digging and searching for evidence to solve
18:34this case.
18:35All right.
19:11I'm not familiar with the name that's mentioned in this Crime Stoppers tip, but Lieutenant Bush
19:17immediately recognized this subject's name.
19:21His name has come up in several detective investigations throughout the city.
19:25Get with Maggie, and just see what she has on her murder, and just tell her that that
19:33guy may be involved in your homicide as well.
19:36I would think this is related.
19:39All right.
19:44Wait, that's your victim?
19:47Possibly perpetrator.
19:49That's the guy I was looking at for my double murder in last April.
19:53And he was the intended target of Walt's homicide like two months ago.
20:00My coworkers recognize the Crime Stoppers tip subject's name as well.
20:06So he lives in , but he does his dealings in the lower nine.
20:11Let's go ahead.
20:15So you know was the intended target of Walt's homicide, and that's also Riffle's guy from-
20:21The Devil last April.
20:23Supposedly and his group shot my victim.
20:29Because he thought my victim had something to do with his fast friend getting killed.
20:33Yes.
20:33But we can never prove that.
20:34It's close enough to get us to start looking at it, so.
20:38Oh, you know what?
20:39We have his phone from back then.
20:42Detective Riffle already has a cell phone number for this person of interest from the Crime
20:48Stoppers tip.
20:50Detective Miles Guerreri helps subpoena the cell phone records on the day of the murder.
20:55I'm gonna run that name, see what comes up.
21:11This is Detective Marshall executing a search warrant on a blue 2017 Hyundai Sonata vehicle.
21:30This vehicle is burned to a crisp.
21:33I'm surprised the license plate didn't burn.
21:37Having a car with a license plate makes it easier to track it throughout the city with license plate readers.
21:45Try the other side, it's kinda open.
21:51I'm just saying if I see a case and, oh, you feel a gun.
21:58I don't see none.
22:02If we had a case and we got brass in the shine.
22:05That'll be charred.
22:13All right.
22:16Unfortunately, I have not recovered anything from inside the vehicle.
22:20Nothing but ashes.
22:22That concludes the search warrant at 6.27 p.m.
22:26I don't know.
22:28I don't know.
22:51I don't know.
22:53I don't know.
22:54I don't know.
23:11I don't know.
23:14I don't know.
23:16I don't know.
23:17I don't know.
23:20I'm sorry.
23:21that occurred in the past.
23:23So I just caught the other D,
23:25lower night war.
23:26Okay.
23:27And got a Crimestopper tip
23:29that is the shooter.
23:32Really?
23:34You know who that is?
23:35Yeah, I'm looking at him
23:36with one of my recent ones.
23:38Yeah, Luceney was just saying,
23:40what black hair is this one?
23:42Uh, black.
23:43My 1,800 black.
23:46Wow.
23:48Something's related
23:48because the proximity to you,
23:50you know, your case, Devon,
23:52is pretty close.
23:54After speaking to Maggie
23:55and learning that our homicides
23:57occurred relatively close to each other
24:00in the lower night war,
24:01I'm really thinking that
24:03this subject that's listed
24:04in my Crimestopper's tip
24:05may be involved in both homicides.
24:09My job is to solve Aaron Lewis' homicide
24:12and bring this case to justice.
24:37Come to find out
24:39my Crimestopper's tip person of interest
24:41was being surveilled
24:43and investigated by another parish.
24:47They confirmed that he was not
24:50on the scene of my murder.
24:52I am desperate for a lead at this point,
24:55so I'm going to conduct
24:57an additional canvas.
24:59Time to get the ball back rolling.
25:16I'm headed to New Orleans' east
25:19near the abandoned Six Flags area.
25:22This location where the vehicle
25:23was found burned
25:24is about 13 miles away
25:26from the homicide scene.
25:29Nothing but trees and swamp.
25:32I think there is more than one person
25:35involved in this,
25:36the murder of Aaron Lewis.
25:38If you come in a burner car
25:40in this area,
25:41you have to have a getaway car
25:43or have somebody to pick you up.
25:45You have to have some real balls
25:47to walk from out here.
25:50I'm hoping to find
25:51any surveillance cameras
25:54in the area
25:55that can help aid
25:56in this homicide investigation.
26:00We have some houses,
26:01so this is definitely
26:04a place I need to
26:05be looking for cameras.
26:08Okay, I see a...
26:08Oh, there's a real-time crime camera.
26:11Definitely got to contact
26:13real-time crime center.
26:18Oh, there's another crime camera.
26:21Whew, we cooking with grease now.
26:24This is the area
26:25where 7 District
26:27found the vehicle burned.
26:36Wow.
26:39Still got burn marks.
26:43This spot
26:44is definitely
26:45a dumping ground,
26:47especially to burn vehicles.
26:50This may be from my burn vehicle
26:52or other burn vehicles.
26:57Okay, I see a residence
26:59that has a camera on it.
27:01So, I'm gonna go check
27:03this residence
27:03to see if we got any footage.
27:13So, the resident,
27:15they were able to show me
27:17video of the vehicle
27:18on fire.
27:21The camera
27:22is motion activated.
27:24It had the vehicle
27:26going up in flames,
27:27but it didn't capture
27:29the individuals
27:30getting out of the vehicle.
27:34A witness also stated
27:35that
27:36before the fire,
27:38they were sitting
27:39outside
27:40when they noticed
27:41two vehicles
27:42traveling at a high rate
27:44of speed
27:44together.
27:47One of them looks like
27:49the blue suspect vehicle
27:50traveling behind
27:52a silver vehicle.
27:55Hopefully,
27:56those two vehicles
27:57were captured
27:58on an LPR.
28:00And in that way,
28:01I would know
28:01the make and model
28:03and who's the register
28:04owner
28:05of that silver-colored vehicle.
28:26I'm in route to a vigil
28:28for my victim.
28:30His family requested
28:31that I attend.
28:35Today is the victim's birthday.
28:37The victim makes
28:3723 years old today.
28:40So, the mother
28:41is taking it
28:42really, really hard.
28:43I spoke to her
28:43yesterday,
28:45and she said
28:46she's just not
28:47doing too well.
28:49So, I just want
28:50to show my support
28:51to the family
28:53and let them know
28:54that I'm there
28:54for them.
28:55to the family
29:00and she said
29:09how you doing?
29:10I wanted to give you a hug.
29:14Y'all got a nice
29:15turnout out of here.
29:17Please.
29:17He was loved.
29:18I know.
29:19I can tell.
29:20I can tell.
29:21It's like a little
29:22mini, little second line.
29:25You okay?
29:27I didn't want to believe you.
29:29I know.
29:31Y'all ain't hear
29:32nothing else, huh?
29:33My nephew
29:34went in the school.
29:35They say
29:35they don't know
29:37where that story came from.
29:39He say
29:39everybody
29:40will buy you.
29:41I know.
29:42I know.
29:43Working on it.
29:44All right?
29:48Bringing closure
29:49to the family
29:50drives me.
29:52I want to
29:53be able to say
29:54that
29:54I work continuously
29:56to bring
29:57justice to their family.
30:03Thank you for coming.
30:04You're welcome.
30:05All right.
30:05I'm going to keep
30:06praying for you, okay?
30:07All right?
30:08All right.
30:08And you have my number.
30:09You call me
30:09for anything, okay?
30:11All right.
30:11All right.
30:28So the good thing
30:30is
30:30I was able
30:32to retrieve
30:34some footage
30:37on the first
30:38camera.
30:39You can see
30:40two vehicles
30:41driving in tandem
30:42with each other.
30:45And on the second
30:46camera,
30:47you can tell
30:48it's a silver-colored
30:49Nissan Altima
30:50and a blue suspect
30:52vehicle,
30:53the Hyundai
30:53that was found burned.
30:55They were traveling
30:56together,
30:57coming from
30:57the Lower Knight Ward,
30:59the same area
31:00where the homicide
31:01occurred.
31:03And I was able
31:04to get the license plate
31:05on this silver vehicle.
31:06And that vehicle
31:08comes back
31:08to a
31:10Dedrick refuge.
31:12Also known
31:13as Baby B.
31:15Dedrick refuge
31:16has a criminal
31:17history that
31:18includes felony
31:20theft,
31:20armed robbery.
31:23He served
31:2410 years hard
31:25labor and he
31:26just got out
31:26of jail
31:27on June
31:28of 2022.
31:30So that silver
31:32vehicle comes
31:33back registered
31:33to him.
31:35I'm excited
31:36about this
31:37because I'm like
31:37I have something
31:39a little more
31:39promising.
31:41So I put out
31:43a bulletin
31:44with Dedrick refuge
31:45and the silver
31:47color Nissan
31:48Altima.
31:49But I put it out
31:50department wide
31:51not to the media
31:52because I didn't
31:53want the Nissan
31:55Altima to get
31:56burned if I put it
31:57out publicly.
32:00I'm going to
32:01utilize our
32:02VK unit
32:02to assist
32:03with locating
32:03that vehicle
32:04or trying
32:05to locate
32:05this subject.
32:07I need to find
32:08Dedrick refuge
32:10and that car
32:12ASAP.
32:34T, what you working on?
32:36I'm working on
32:37Aaron Lewis
32:38homicide case.
32:39Remember the case
32:40back in the
32:411800 block
32:41of February?
32:44Mm-hmm.
32:45So it's the case
32:46where the dude
32:46gun jammed.
32:47Yes.
32:48So I issued
32:49a bulletin
32:50internally
32:50and I didn't
32:51get any hits
32:52on it.
32:53So I reissued
32:54the bolo
32:55externally
32:56and guess what?
32:57I got a
32:58Crime Stoppers tip.
32:59Really?
32:59Yes.
33:01The Crime Stoppers
33:02tip states
33:03and Marcel Kusher
33:05aka Pula
33:07was the shooter.
33:13Was the driver
33:14of the blue vehicle.
33:16So those two
33:16were in the car
33:17together.
33:18Nobody else
33:18was observed
33:19on video
33:19in the vehicle.
33:20Okay.
33:21And Baby D,
33:23Dedrick Refuge,
33:24picked him up
33:25and burned
33:27the blue Hyundai
33:28by Six Flags.
33:30That's a good
33:30Crime Stopper tip.
33:32We don't ever
33:32get anything that good.
33:33Right.
33:34They don't realize
33:35you help your partner
33:37out, you're getting
33:38charged too.
33:39You're responsible.
33:41Putting this bolo
33:42out to the media
33:43paid off.
33:44I was able to get
33:46information quickly.
33:48We have phone numbers
33:49on them,
33:50anything like that.
33:51I'm going to see
33:52if cell phone records
33:53for Marcel Kusher
33:55and put them
33:57on the scene
33:57of this homicide.
33:58Mm-hmm.
33:59I already know
34:00Dedrick Refuge
34:01wasn't at the
34:02homicide based
34:03on the LPR reads
34:05from his vehicle.
34:06Mm-hmm.
34:06So his vehicle
34:07wasn't in a lower
34:09night water
34:09at the time
34:09of the murder,
34:10so I know
34:10he wasn't present.
34:12I went to try
34:13to look for him
34:14at the address
34:15that's registered
34:15to him,
34:16but I didn't see
34:17the vehicle
34:17parked in the driveway.
34:19Do we know
34:19what the reason
34:20for all of this was?
34:21So I don't know
34:24what the particulars
34:25are,
34:26but it's something
34:28deep
34:30for them to roll up
34:31on this guy
34:31in broad daylight
34:32and shoot him
34:33all the time.
34:34At least you're close.
34:35I mean,
34:35that's pretty good.
34:36Yeah.
34:37Something happened
34:38to where
34:38they have some beef
34:40between the three
34:41of them.
34:42Even though
34:43their names came up,
34:44I still have to prove
34:45that they were
34:46the ones responsible,
34:48but I have names.
34:49I have something
34:50to work with.
35:08Pro, please.
35:09Yeah.
35:19Please for the Lord!
35:23Come on,
35:24put your hands up.
35:24Walk out the gate,
35:25go to your left.
35:29Turn around.
35:33Put your hand.
35:34My cell.
35:52So my Aaron Lewis case?
35:56Yes.
35:57VK sent Marcel Kuscher
35:59cell phone records
36:00and his cell phone
36:03mirrors the LPRs
36:05for the suspect vehicle.
36:07His phone is
36:08on the murder scene.
36:10Oh, that's perfect.
36:11And his phone
36:13goes to New Orleans East
36:14after the murder scene
36:16to where the vehicle
36:17was burned.
36:18Wow.
36:20VK also provided me
36:22with the contents
36:23of Marcel Kuscher
36:25social media account
36:27showing him wearing
36:29the same hoodie
36:30in the homicide video
36:32with the red fire flames
36:34on both arms.
36:36And in the video,
36:37you can see
36:37the black firearm
36:38with the white
36:40extended magazine.
36:41That also was
36:42in the homicide video.
36:44That's solid.
36:46So I typed the warrant.
36:48Okay.
36:49And went and rebooked him
36:51the other day
36:52at lockup.
36:53Perfect.
36:54Marcel never wanted
36:55to give a statement
36:56to say his side
36:57of the story.
36:59Even though Marcel Kuscher
37:00is already in prison,
37:02he's still gonna be charged
37:03with the murder
37:03of Aaron Lewis.
37:16So I know
37:17it's a circumstantial.
37:19Most of our cases
37:19are gonna be circumstantial.
37:21But that's pretty good
37:22that you were able
37:23to mirror his cell phone records
37:24with the LPR
37:25of the vehicle
37:26that was used.
37:27And that vehicle
37:27was found burned.
37:28The driver of that vehicle
37:30has not been charged
37:31as of yet.
37:32At this point,
37:33I'm still working
37:34the investigation.
37:35I have to find out
37:37the cell phone
37:38that he used
37:39at the time
37:40of the homicide.
37:41But at this time,
37:43I've identified
37:44a cell phone number
37:45in Marcel Kuscher's
37:47cell phone records
37:47that belongs
37:49to Dedrick Refuge.
37:50One minute after
37:52the homicide occurred,
37:54Marcel Kuscher
37:55contacted him.
37:56I have enough now
37:57to charge Dedrick Refuge
38:00with accessory
38:01after the fact
38:02it's a second-degree murder.
38:16I was contacted
38:18by Vowse
38:19and the U.S. Marshals.
38:20They've located
38:21Dedrick Refuge,
38:23who is
38:24the owner
38:25of the silver
38:26Nissan Altima
38:29that I think
38:30helped Marcel Kuscher
38:32after the homicide
38:33of Aaron Lewis
38:34by picking him up
38:36in New Orleans East
38:37where the blue suspect
38:39vehicle was found burned.
38:41I typed up
38:43a search warrant
38:43for where he was located
38:45and I'm hoping
38:46to find any items
38:48of evidentiary value
38:49to help aid
38:50in the homicide investigation
38:51of Aaron Lewis.
38:53Persistence
38:54has definitely paid off.
38:56I'm very happy
38:57with getting
38:58the suspects arrested.
39:13We arrived
39:14at the residence.
39:19Unfortunately,
39:20upon executing
39:21the search warrant,
39:22I did not find
39:23anything of evidentiary value
39:26other than
39:27a new cell phone
39:28that belongs
39:29to Dedrick Refuge.
39:32At least I have his phone
39:34and I'll do
39:36a search warrant
39:36on his new phone
39:37to see if he has
39:38any type of communication
39:40with anybody else.
39:42Hopefully he can get
39:43in that new phone
39:43because we don't have
39:45a passcode
39:46may not be able to get in.
39:47I did get
39:48cell phone records
39:49back yesterday
39:50and he'll be
39:51the last of the puzzle
39:52to charge
39:53with the murder.
39:54Sound good.
39:56Oh-wee.
39:58Come on, girl.
40:00Sugar melts
40:01in the rain.
40:19Unfortunately,
40:20I don't think
40:21we will ever know
40:22the true motive
40:23behind Aaron's murder.
40:24I contacted
40:25the victim's mother
40:27and I advised her
40:28that an arrest
40:28was made
40:29on Marcel Kuscher
40:30and Dedrick Refuge.
40:32And she was ecstatic.
40:34She was very excited.
40:35She was happy.
40:36She was crying
40:37because she was like,
40:38justice has been served.
40:41I feel like
40:42justice has been served,
40:43but I'm not done yet.
40:44I have to get
40:45the last suspect,
40:46the driver
40:47of the blue vehicle,
40:48during the homicide.
40:50Once I find
40:50that piece of the puzzle,
40:52I'll be satisfied.
41:17Come on, y'all.
