Inspired by Venetian architecture and imagined as a mix between a gelato bar and hotel suite, La Suite Dolce Vita is an apartment redesigned from the ground up by french architects and furniture designers Space Factory. Inside, a versatile living and dining area contains a dining table for four to six, a stylish Italian boucle sofa and ample seating that doubles as storage. This same storage continues on the opposite side of the home where an office space is seamlessly integrated into the joinery and fluted glass arches separate the bedroom from the rest of the apartment, maximizing the circulation of light through-out space. The efficient design of these areas allowed Space Factory to create a spacious kitchen facing the living area, featuring concealed appliances to reduce clutter and a series of mirrors that reflect light and give the impression of a much larger space. The home's gelato themed pink and green palette combined with arched frames and curved edges throughout create a sense of softness and playfulness that permeates the space.

00:02The concept has been named La Suite Dolce Vita. We can translate it as the Dolce Vita Suite.
00:11The goal was to escape from the city and enter an Italian hotel suite every time you return home.
00:20We traveled a lot in Italy, especially in Venice. We have been very inspired by the Venetian palazzos
00:27and its arches, the pink and green marbles, but also the dark wood you can find in the city.
00:35We imagine it as a kind of mix between an hotel suite and a gelato bar.
00:43My name is Ophélie Doria and I'm Edouard Boulemaphélis.
00:47We are the founders of Space Factory, a multidisciplinary creative studio based in Paris.
01:00The apartment was built in 1949 and it has always been a residential building.
01:08It is right next to a park named Les Buttes Chaumaux.
01:12It's quite an unexpected place in Paris with its large expanse of grass,
01:18a lake, a suspension bridge, there is even a waterfall.
01:23When we first formed the apartment, it was like a place that had not been taken care of
01:30in quite some time. A one-bedroom apartment with a laminate floor and white walls.
01:38We knocked down the walls and everything that was in place. Then we rebuilt the kitchen, bathroom,
01:45bedroom and living rooms near their original location but with an optimized floor plan.
01:52In the entrance, we created a color box. This one is pink to go with our gelato chop italian team.
02:00The idea was to create distance with the main living space by giving the entrance substance with the color.
02:08On the right, when you enter, there is the toilet. In France, people prefer it apart from the bathroom,
02:15even in small spaces.
02:19On the left, we created a pocket storage in a vertical cupboard that hides shoes and the electrical world.
02:27Finally, there is an arch that visually frames the living space as soon as you enter the apartment.
02:37We imagined a very versatile living space where you can entertain friends,
02:42walk and chill. That's why we created a dining table for four to six people.
02:50We also imagined a living room with a sofa and storage that can be used as benches.
02:59We hid a projector screen in the ceiling which can be lowered via a switch.
03:07Finally, we created a very integrated office in the main space for when our client needs to work from home.
03:16Even if the space is compact, the idea was to have a large kitchen.
03:21We created a lot of storage in the kitchen. Behind the cabinet doors, we hid the fridge,
03:30microwaves with storage, dishwasher and washing machine. This helps to visually declutter the space.
03:40We used asht mirrors to reflect the surrounding space.
03:49The bedroom is separated from the living by fluted glass arches.
03:55We wanted to maximize light circulation so that either side of the apartment can receive light through the day.
04:04We chose to float the bedside table to maximize the feeling of space in this very small bedroom.
04:13There's a mini dresser that has been optimized with built-in lights, drawers and compartments.
04:23The ensuite bathroom also has no door as the rest of the apartment.
04:29The entrance is an arch at the top and at the bottom. We were inspired by the doors on boats.
04:36It allows us to separate the two spaces and to protect the bedroom from splashes.
04:43There is a shower on one side, divided by a glass panel and a basin on the other.
04:50With the curved wall, it makes it look like a one large space.
04:55We wanted a very soft color palette with colors like ice cream flavors.
05:02The green reminds us about pistachio gelati and the pink about strawberry ice cream.
05:11We decided to create a gelato ice cream cone lamp to go with our theme.
05:20We feel like the mindset is changing about what is luxurious.
05:24You don't have to have a large space to experience a luxurious feeling like in an hotel suite.
05:31It's all about the care you put in the renovation, the details and the high-end quality materials.
05:45All right.
