00:19A senior Iranian commander just told the U.S. Navy to prepare for a graveyard, and the wildest
00:26part, he's using Trump's own words to make the case, because Trump called it first,
00:32we're like pirates. Iran heard that, and they responded. The Strait of Hormuz, 20% of the world's
00:40oil flows through it daily. It is arguably the most strategically vital stretch of water on the
00:46planet. Right now, it is also the most dangerous. U.S. naval forces are enforcing a blockade on
00:53Iranian ports. Ships are being seized. Oil cargo confiscated. Iranian vessels intercepted. A tense,
01:01grinding standoff that neither side seems willing to blink on first. And the rhetoric? It just hit
01:08a new level. It started, remarkably, with Trump himself. At a rally in Florida on May 2nd, the
01:15president described U.S. naval operations in the region with characteristic bluntness.
01:20We took over the ship. We took over the cargo. We took over the oil. It's a very profitable
01:27business. Then came the line that echoed around the world. We're like pirates. We're sort of like
01:33pirates, but we're not playing games. And there was no response. Turn your ship around. Evacuate your
01:42engine room immediately. And you see all these guys running out of there. Now, they're five miles away,
01:49and one shot into the engine room, blew up the engine room. The ship stopped.
01:55They used tugboats. And then we landed on top of it. On top of everything else, we then land on
01:59top of
02:00it. And we took over the ship. We took over the cargo, took over the oil. It's a very profitable
02:05business. Who would have thought we were doing that? We're like pirates. We're sort of like pirates.
02:12But we're not playing games because, you know, for 47 years, Iran has been pushing everybody around.
02:19The crowd cheered. Trump grinned. And Iran's foreign ministry took a screenshot and got to work.
02:25On May 3rd, Mohsin Rezaei, former IRGC commander, secretary of Iran's expediency council, and advisor to the
02:34supreme leader, posted a statement that pulled no punches. The U.S. is the only pirate in the world
02:41that possesses aircraft carriers. Then the threat. Our ability to confront pirates is no less than our
02:48ability to sink warships. And then the most striking line of all, directed squarely at U.S. forces in the
02:56strait. Prepare to face a graveyard of your carriers and forces, just as the wreckage of your aircraft was
03:03left behind in Asfahan. That last part refers to a U.S. F-15E reportedly shot down over Iran last
03:12month.
03:12A deliberate, pointed reminder. America's most advanced hardware is not invincible.
03:19Here's what makes this moment genuinely significant. Iran didn't have to invent the piracy
03:25framing. The president of the United States handed it to them, live, on stage, to a cheering crowd.
03:31And Iranian officials immediately weaponized it as a, quote, direct and damning admission of criminal
03:38behavior under international law. Trump called it piracy and laughed. Iran called it piracy and issued
03:45a warning. The Strait of Hormuz has never been more contested or more consequential. One miscalculation,
03:53one incident, one vessel in the wrong place at the wrong moment. That's all it takes.
