Al-Fatihah is not just the opening of recitation…
It is the opening of the heart before Allah.
In just seven verses, it gathers everything:
praise, mercy, majesty, worship, reliance, supplication, and the path of salvation.
And in the narration of Qunbul from Ibn Kathir, there is a beautiful and striking feature in the recitation of:
{ihdina as-sirat al-mustaqim}
The use of the letter “s” in *as-sirat* is not merely a variation in sound.
It carries the living fragrance of a transmitted Qur’anic tradition, drawing the ear in and making the heart feel the plea more deeply:
Guide us to the straight path.
Then comes:
{Sirat alladhina an‘amta ‘alayhim}
Not just any path…
but the path of those whom Allah has blessed, guided, and brought near.
Al-Fatihah in Qunbul’s narration is not only a recitation to be heard.
It is surrender, need, longing, and a sincere request for guidance.
