00:00Bienvenidos to Mi Casa.
00:03We knew from the experience of two previous TV shows that we needed our main character to live in a
00:09neighborhood we could control.
00:11So we decided to build our own neighborhood.
00:14Welcome to Carol Sterka's neighborhood.
00:17What guided this location was the view of the city and having that feel of remoteness and isolation as well.
00:24This is an incredible seven-house cul-de-sac that was built by our art department and construction team.
00:33Less than a year ago, it was just empty prairie land.
00:37The locations department found several locations and this one with the views that it has in proximity to Albuquerque stood
00:44out.
00:45Carol's house, we finished portions of the interior to take advantage of the views out the windows.
00:51We've actually built it like three times.
00:53We have a second floor stage set, a first floor stage set, and then we also have the exterior set
01:00here.
01:01And they all have to kind of mesh together.
01:03The landscaping of this was a huge deal.
01:06There's a landscape plan for each house with very specific pavers, rock, plants.
01:13Everything got stuccoed, real roofs put on.
01:16The only thing that's lacking here is power and water.
01:18It really worked in our favor as a production because every department has their own little house or garage that
01:25they can store things in and we can bring stuff out.
01:27The writers and I, we all knew that we wanted to do a lot in Carol's neighborhood.
01:33We wanted to land a helicopter out there.
01:36We wanted to throw a hand grenade through a window.
01:39If we may.
01:43We wanted to set off fireworks and set one of the houses on fire.
01:47Three, two, one.
01:52You better not try to rent somebody's neighborhood because they're going to get tired of you really quick.
01:58We wound up shooting in New Mexico because I've loved shooting there for years and I have a wonderful crew
02:04there that I never want to do without.
02:09You better not try to set off fireworks and when you are all in the house.
02:09You're going to sit through an entrance before you stop worrying.
