00:00One of the scenes I was proudest of this year was a scene set on Air Force One.
00:06It was available to whoever asked.
00:09Big scene with Air Force One.
00:11Yeah.
00:11Built this giant set. It's 100 feet long.
00:14Pretty incredible.
00:16It's nuts on accurate down to...
00:18Crazy.
00:19It's funny, you call up the White House and you say,
00:21we'd like the complete blueprints of Air Force One.
00:23They don't like that much.
00:25Not so much.
00:26But there's so many photos.
00:28Our construction department created a superstructure for a section of a fuselage of a real 747.
00:38Our producers went down to the boneyard.
00:41They've got a bunch of old planes.
00:43And they bought a big section of door and the surrounding skin of the fuselage of a 747.
00:52Mounted this thing in the air exactly how high up the door of a 747 would be.
00:58They surrounded it with green fabric.
01:02Ah! Hello! Hello!
01:05And then we shot this scene with people going in and out of this real door of a 747.
01:12The big thing with these specific shots are the fact that, you know, the three parts of it.
01:17The foreground layer that we're shooting now, the CG plane that goes in the background,
01:20and the fact that the background is actually going to be shot two months from now in Bilbao,
01:25which may have different lighting conditions.
01:27And we'll have to make sure that the cameras are in the exact same place that we have them here,
01:32in relationship to the airport at Bilbao.
01:34And all three of those different worlds have to align together.
01:37So we have to make really precise measurements about where everything is.
01:42That's the outside of Air Force One.
01:44The inside was all created on a sound stage.
01:47They built this thing from scratch.
01:49Ready? And action!
01:53Bonjour! Enchanté! I am Kumba Diabate.
01:56This is all based on extensive research.
02:01We tweaked the colors a little bit.
02:03We did a lot of research, but we decided to go with, like, blue instead of all these browns that
02:09they usually have.
02:10And then we did do these stairs.
02:12We actually got this railing out of the 747 that we bought pieces of to build the exterior.
02:20And then we have our conference room.
02:22A lot happens in here.
02:24We manufactured these ourselves and then, you know, built the walls, cut them in.
02:29These little foam cradles, also another real thing.
02:33All that woodwork is scenic finish.
02:36We wanted to get the perfect shine and sheen.
02:40And we found with stains we couldn't do that.
02:42You guys are, I'm telling you, I'm so impressed with the work we did.
02:46That's it.
02:46Like I say, we tried to get it as close to, like, the real Air Force One as possible.
02:52And, uh, and I think, I think we did it.
02:54Oh, I like that. Give me a couple more like that.
02:56I could not believe it when I walked onto the Air Force One set.
02:59It looked so realistic.
03:02Just with all the details of the chairs down to the seat belt with the emblem of the president.
03:07And it really helped me just step into this guy who has the most epic entrance of all characters, I
03:12believe.
03:13Just coming on Air Force One filled to the brim with supermodels.
