00:00These are my first impressions about Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred expansion.
00:04Let's get into it.
00:05For starters, let's talk about the story,
00:08because that's the first thing you encounter when you start playing the game.
00:11There's not going to be any spoilers, so you are safe if you haven't played it yet.
00:16Now, the trailer has already been released,
00:19and we've seen certain bits and pieces about the story,
00:22so I can talk about that very freely.
00:24And the whole point is that Nerelle is gone.
00:28She is dead.
00:29And to that I can say, thank fuck, because she was extremely annoying,
00:33and I never really clicked with her.
00:35The whole idea of venturing into the unknown with a soul stone containing the prime evil
00:40was dumb to begin with, so I don't really know what they tried to achieve.
00:44But Blizzard certainly didn't push any buttons in me when it comes to her.
00:50Other elements of the story that were presented in this expansion were really good,
00:55if I may say so myself, or at least that's my opinion.
00:58Certain characters reappeared, certain characters died,
01:02which I kinda didn't like,
01:04or rather I was sorrowful when I saw that particular situation,
01:08but I reckon it kinda makes sense in the grand scheme of things.
01:12Also, I gotta say, I don't know where I'm getting this feeling,
01:15but I really feel like I am back in the Reaper of Souls storyline, that vibe that is.
01:22And it feels kinda cool, if I can say that, because, I don't know, nostalgia is a powerful tool,
01:28and I would say Blizzard definitely capitalized on that particular aspect.
01:34Again, these are first impressions,
01:35and I didn't really have enough time to process the whole story.
01:38I only played the game for, let's say, 20-ish hours or something like that.
01:43So, yeah, maybe in the future, I will think about this particular storyline more,
01:47but, again, it wasn't that bad.
01:49It was certainly better than what we'd had in the previous expansion.
01:52I suppose the whole idea of stopping Mephisto,
01:55and you running from one end of the map to the other in order to find ways to stop him,
02:01builds that particular feeling in you, that you're accomplishing something.
02:06So, that as well is another point that was properly implemented,
02:10compared to the last one, where we didn't have that particular sentiment, so to speak.
02:15Also, the story, the way that it unfolds and it ends,
02:19gives me hope that they are going to go into certain directions in the future,
02:24which might be positive for the whole storyline,
02:27considering that we have Baal and Diablo to appear as the other two primevals.
02:32So, yeah, I reckon it's going to be interesting to see
02:35what they're going to conjure in that particular situation.
02:38One thing I need to mention before I'm done with the story,
02:41Blizzard is using this they pronoun bullshit in order to address your character,
02:45where you can clearly see it's either a male or a female character,
02:50not to mention you pick the fucking gender when you're creating your character.
02:54I don't know what's with that fucking bullshit, but it's so retarded.
02:57As if they were lazy to just record two different lines by switching the pronoun,
03:02but they just push that they bullshit like, you know, the most of the fucking industry now.
03:07So, get rid of that stupid fucking shit.
03:09Nobody wants it and nobody cares about it and is just messing everything up.
03:14Next point I would like to raise is all about Skowos.
03:17Skowos looks really cool.
03:19I like the vibes that I'm getting from that particular place or the map itself.
03:23It's very reminiscent of Ancient Greece and the way the characters speak
03:27and all the Amazon stuff and the environments and all that.
03:31So, I reckon it hit a good spot there as well.
03:34In comparison to Nahantu, I think it's a much better area, generally speaking,
03:39because Nahantu was always kind of dark, a lot of jungle stuff.
03:43I don't know, I always kind of avoided that place like a plague,
03:46other than going to the main city in order to do undercity stuff.
03:49So, in my book, that's another improvement compared to the previous expansion.
03:54Next point is all about the classes, or should I say class,
03:57because I already played Paladin for the last two seasons,
04:01so Warlock was the thing that was kind of new.
04:05And I reckon it's okay.
04:08The whole using demons to fight demons gimmick is interesting,
04:11and from the start, I wanted to play as a summoner,
04:15because what better way to utilize your abilities to fight demons
04:19other than using demons, or rather literally throwing demons at demons in order to kill them.
04:24I think that's an amazing gimmick,
04:26and for the first 40 levels, I kind of had fun with that particular build.
04:31Then I shifted to another build, which is Dread Claws,
04:35and that thing is shredding like there's no tomorrow.
04:38It really gives you that feeling of immense power that you're kind of releasing onto the world.
04:44Which is expected, because every single new class that was released was overpowered as fuck,
04:50so in that sense, no wonder most of the people are going with the Warlock class
04:54in order to capitalize on that power to make the game more enjoyable
04:58before either finishing it or switching to another class.
05:01It's always about that particular situation with Blizzard where they're kind of utilizing it,
05:07the power that is, in order to attract more sales.
05:10I suppose that's nothing that we haven't seen before,
05:13I'm just hoping that the overall power balance,
05:15when you look at the other classes and what they can bring to the endgame,
05:19is not going to be overshadowed by this new class.
05:22In a sense, the same thing can be said about the Paladin,
05:25because for the last two seasons, Paladin was OP as fuck,
05:29and they definitely didn't nerf it, because you need to sell the fantasy.
05:34Because, again, we are getting two new classes,
05:36and if people bought the Paladin first, or rather pre-ordered,
05:38they experienced it before, but there are other people who need to play it,
05:42the game that is, so they need to keep those power levels in check.
05:46Standard marketing procedure and stuff, that's basically what it is.
05:50Just jump on the wave, try both classes before they get nerfed,
05:54or the builds that is, and you're gonna be okay.
05:57Also, while we are doing the story stuff, we get introduced to fishing.
06:01Many people were asking, what is this fishing all about,
06:04and to me, at the moment, it's just a gimmick.
06:06Obviously, I tried it to see how it looks like, how it feels like,
06:10and it's a very simple minigame.
06:11You cast your line with one button, and you pick the fish,
06:15or rear-in the fish with another one.
06:17Basically, catching it with two buttons, it's amazing.
06:20Not too complicated, and definitely, it can be served as a chill activity,
06:26when you are kind of resting between all the activities that you are currently doing,
06:30especially when you are engaging with warplans.
06:32As far as I can see, you have these seven areas,
06:35and you have seven distinct fish that you can catch,
06:39and in between, each fish has like five, six, or seven categories.
06:44So, you get like common redfin, and then you have legendary redfin, mythic redfin.
06:50You get the idea.
06:51You can also see this in the achievement tab.
06:54So, basically, it's grindy in order to get the fish, but not that much.
06:58I suppose you can always spend a couple of minutes just casting the line,
07:02and enjoy yourself a bit while you're waiting for, I don't know, world boss,
07:05or any other timer.
07:06So, it's okay.
07:08Nothing too complicated.
07:09I reckon if you are achievement hunter, you definitely enjoy this.
07:13If not, well, just do the basic stuff,
07:16because one of the seasonal journey achievements or tasks
07:18requires of you to catch several fish, so there's basically that.
07:23I mean, they had to put it in seasonal journey,
07:25otherwise nobody would do it,
07:26because that's what seasonal journey is all about.
07:30Now, the final aspect of this particular first impressions
07:33is going to be all about the endgame.
07:35I won't go too deep into it,
07:38because there's going to be another video
07:40of me reviewing the whole endgame as a thing.
07:44So, I reckon stay tuned for that,
07:46but general first impressions about the endgame are positive.
07:50The addition of war plans as a mechanic,
07:53as far as I'm concerned,
07:55is really fucking good,
07:56because finally, it gives you something to constantly do.
08:00And not to mention,
08:02it engages you with all the other activities that the game has.
08:06I reckon they figured that out in Season 11,
08:09where we were having all those blessings and whatnot
08:11in order to visit different activities,
08:13like Undercity, for example.
08:15And probably they were like,
08:16ah, okay, you know, people like this,
08:18so we might as well do it.
08:20I reckon it was before conceptualized,
08:23and they just showed a preview with Season 11.
08:25But again, that was the whole idea.
08:27You have to sort of force people
08:30in order to engage with the content that you created,
08:33that otherwise was the fucking point.
08:35Mostly what we were doing
08:37was doing Helltide in order to farm materials for the bosses.
08:41Then you did a pit in order to unlock your glyphs,
08:45and ultimately, maybe, maybe,
08:48you would do Nightmare Dungeons
08:50in order to get Objucite,
08:51but that was always overshadowed by the Infernal Hordes,
08:54because there was no point going in Nightmare Dungeons
08:57when Infernal Hordes are the best possible source of Objucite.
09:01So in that sense, I think war plans are amazing.
09:05They have a lot of potential,
09:07especially with those nodes that you can pick
09:10in order to modify every single element of the activity
09:14that you are engaging with.
09:16And I think that essentially is going to be something
09:19that is going to be a staple for the future seasons,
09:23but also expansions in the Diablo series.
09:25Another thing that I noticed
09:27is how everything is kind of streamlined.
09:29You are not really suffering a lot
09:31when it comes to engaging with the activities.
09:34It just goes very smoothly,
09:36jumping from one activity to the other,
09:38usually just one click of a button.
09:40For example, if you want to do a Nightmare Dungeon,
09:42you can just do it,
09:43and the system is going to assign you a random sigil,
09:46but you can use your own
09:48if you want to complete that particular war plan segment,
09:51so that's also very cool,
09:52which essentially gives you lots of variety,
09:56but everything is just accomplished in a smooth manner.
10:00Other aspects of the endgame that I liked
10:02are obviously the new systems
10:04that we have been introduced with,
10:06which is Horadri Cube,
10:07where we finally can do some proper fucking crafting,
10:10and the addition of item sets.
10:13Item sets are especially interesting
10:15because they were added as a subsection of your gear
10:19without actually having to equip the item
10:23in order to activate the set item bonus,
10:25but rather using this new system,
10:27which is called Amulet or Talisman
10:29or whatever the fuck,
10:30which you're basically just slotting in runes
10:33in order to get all those bonuses active.
10:35I think the system is great
10:36and can be utilized for future leaderboards
10:39in order to, let's say, target specific builds,
10:42so people can compete with each other
10:44because right now everything is just cluttered together
10:47and you're competing as a class
10:50rather than a build.
10:51That was a thing in Diablo 3
10:53and I hope that it will make a comeback in Diablo 4,
10:57if not next season,
10:58then maybe in two seasons
10:59or something along the lines
11:01because, again, in Diablo 3,
11:02it didn't really matter
11:04if the build was under power or not.
11:06You just wanted to be the best
11:07with that particular build.
11:09Again, I will talk more about endgame,
11:11but first impressions for, I don't know,
11:1310, 15 hours that I spent time in the game
11:16performing all kinds of endgame things
11:19were actually pretty good
11:20and for the first time in a long time,
11:23I have a desire to play this game more
11:26because the warplans,
11:28they're just so damn good
11:29because they finally have that hook
11:31that can grab you
11:33and very aggressively, might I add,
11:35in order to complete all the content
11:37that the game has to offer.
11:38One final thing that I would like to point out
11:41is the game stability
11:42and it's a weird one.
11:44I was recording most of my footage using OBS
11:47and I don't know what's happening.
11:49I didn't really do extensive testing,
11:53but I noticed when I was using OBS
11:54to record footage,
11:56there was a lot of stuttering,
11:58there was a lot of rubber banding.
11:59I actually crashed two or three times
12:01and when I wasn't using OBS,
12:03it was okay,
12:04but then the next day
12:05when I was using OBS
12:06to record stuff while I was doing endgame,
12:08there were certain problems.
12:10So I don't know.
12:11What I could say is 100%
12:13there are still server issues
12:15that I have encountered
12:17in the previous season
12:18and apparently it is moving onward
12:21as the game is progressing
12:22in terms of them adding new content.
12:24So I suppose they still need to fix that
12:26in order to provide even smoother experience,
12:29which is one of the reasons
12:30why I definitely wouldn't play hardcore character
12:33because I died so many times
12:36because I got rubber band
12:37or stuff froze or something like that.
12:39So yeah, it's definitely not worth it
12:41to have a hardcore character
12:43in this particular environment.
12:45So yeah, if you were thinking
12:46maybe skipping on buying the expansion,
12:49I would say don't.
12:50It actually feels really good
12:52and it can definitely hook you up
12:54more than your usual expansions are doing so,
12:57particularly because now we have things to strive for
13:01and that's essentially what was lacking
13:04in Diablo 4 all these years.
13:06And as a final remark,
13:08I would definitely say
13:09that we are getting a spirit of Diablo 3
13:12in Diablo 4,
13:13which is always a good thing
13:14because even though that game had certain issues,
13:17it still was a very good game.
13:19And it is very fucking sad
13:21that we waited, what, almost two years
13:23in order to get to this particular experience.
13:26But you know, it is what it is.
13:28I reckon Blizzard is going to be a bit smarter
13:31for the next Diablo game
13:33when it comes to designing stuff
13:35because if you are going to make a game
13:37and remove everything that your prequel had
13:40as a good thing,
13:41then you're just fucking stupid.
13:42So to summarize this first impression,
13:45I would say Diablo 4 is finally out of beta
13:48and you could see this as a Diablo 4 1.0 version.
13:52It should have happened much sooner,
13:54but it is what it is.
13:56Anyway, that's all that I can say
13:58as my first impressions.
13:59Like I said, I'm going to have a longer video
14:02describing stuff about endgame
14:04and what works and what doesn't work
14:06or rather where I see they should change things.
14:09But other than that,
14:11yeah, just go jump into Diablo 4.
14:13It feels really fucking good.
14:14Also, if you like what I'm doing and making,
14:17feel free to like, share, subscribe, comment,
14:20all that good shit.
14:21It's definitely helping the channel.
14:23There's no two ways about it.
14:25And that's it from me.
14:26Until the next one.
