00:26I'm at 1400 South Louis.
00:30I was flagged down by a homeless individual about his buddy being sick, and his buddy is ten-seven, so
00:41many homicides.
01:02What's up, Jason?
01:03Hey.
01:06I don't know yet.
01:12He's probably been here a minute.
01:14When I first got here, the shoe had dew on it, so that indicates the shoe's been sitting in that
01:18position overnight.
01:31Looks like there could be some blood right there.
01:34Look at that.
01:37Yep.
01:38That's a weapon.
01:42That's good.
01:42That's real good.
01:46I swab everything I can on the cane, so.
01:49Look at that.
01:51See it?
01:54There's a tooth on top of that blue blanket.
01:58Maybe from a suspect if they got into a fight.
02:01Yeah.
02:02The guy that got flagged officers down, he's got some kind of wounds on him, so they transported him.
02:09And then Severus just happened to do some kind of pet check before this and saw this guy with marks
02:14on him.
02:16So he went and re-acquired him, so you're going to have two people downtown.
02:21All right, I'm going to head downtown.
02:23I'm going to start talking to these guys.
02:35We've got two guys up here right now.
02:37One of them's got blood all over him.
02:40It's possible that he could have tried to help his friend after he'd already been attacked.
02:45And then the other guy just happened to be walking in the neighborhood of where this happened.
02:51And he also has a hand injury.
02:54We'll probably start with him first.
02:56I don't know who the victim is yet.
02:58Hopefully, I can learn about that as well.
03:05Hey, buddy.
03:09I didn't even smell you yet.
03:14Well, first off, I appreciate you coming down here.
03:16I'm Detective White, Jason White.
03:19Let me make sure that I've got your correct information.
03:21It's Craig Evan Burton.
03:23Yes, sir.
03:25Where were you last night?
03:27St. John's Hospital.
03:29Where were you doing in the hospital?
03:30I had an accident.
03:32I banged my head pretty freaking hard, man.
03:36I mean, it wasn't because of a fight or anything like that.
03:42I mean, it was.
03:43I haven't said anything about a fight.
03:45Well, I'm just saying.
03:46I just wanted to let you know that it wasn't about a fight.
03:50We're investigating a situation where a guy got assaulted, okay?
03:53Oh, no.
03:54No.
03:55Okay.
03:55Then how did you hurt?
03:56I'm noticing your hand, it looks like it got hurt.
03:59What's this from?
04:00My hand is tore up.
04:02From what?
04:03Not from a fight.
04:04Not from a fight, sir.
04:07Do you ever use a cane?
04:10Yeah.
04:11Where is it?
04:13I don't have a clue.
04:16Perfect.
04:16I'll be back shortly.
04:24I don't know.
04:25He's got a fresh injury.
04:27He's got some blood on him.
04:28We'll see.
04:30I don't want to just rip into him because, quite frankly,
04:32he could be telling me the truth.
04:36All right.
04:39Is it Mickey?
04:42Tell me about your night last night.
04:46Who's we?
04:47Me and Craig.
04:50So you were hanging out with Craig?
04:52Uh-huh.
04:53Okay.
04:55Did anything happen?
04:56Was there any kind of altercation?
04:59Not that I know of.
05:00Not that you know of.
05:03You have, I want you to look down at your arms.
05:05What is that?
05:07Blood.
05:07That's blood.
05:08Lots of blood.
05:10The injuries that you have on you right this minute, to me, look like from a fight.
05:16Is that fair to say?
05:17Yes, sir.
05:18Okay.
05:19Did you get into a fight last night?
05:21No.
05:23Did somebody hurt you last night?
05:25I don't know.
05:29Are you and Craig pretty good friends?
05:31Yeah.
05:32Are you good enough friends with Craig that where you would lie for him?
05:40Well, I've spent some circumstances.
05:44If it's a big enough crime, I wouldn't want to put myself involved in it.
05:54Would you lie to me if it's a big crime?
05:57Yeah, I would.
06:02Okay.
06:02Well, let's not do that today.
06:04I don't know.
06:05Let me show you this picture of this guy.
06:08Who's this?
06:11White shows Mickey a picture of Craig, the other man found near the scene.
06:17Recognize that guy?
06:19Uh-uh.
06:21I don't.
06:25All right.
06:26Let me holler at him right quick.
06:34He's saying, Craig, Craig was with us.
06:36Well, that's contestant number one.
06:38I show him a picture of him.
06:39I said, you know this guy?
06:40No.
06:41Never seen him before.
06:42That's not Craig.
06:44Mickey has already said that he would lie to protect himself and somebody else.
06:49Could he be lying for this guy?
06:50I don't know.
06:51No.
06:56Okay.
06:57We have a name of somebody else.
07:00Craig Henderson.
07:03Investigators still at the crime scene find an ID card.
07:07A little bit of work.
07:09They're going to make me work for it a little bit.
07:10That's okay.
07:15That might be my victim.
07:16Hang on a minute.
07:17All right.
07:17Hey, that's going to be the victim.
07:22The victim's going to be Craig Henderson.
07:27That's an ID card of the victim.
07:29They said it looks consistent with him.
07:31So that kind of clears up the mystery of the Craig.
07:38All right.
07:40Now we're cooking.
07:44Who's that?
07:46Mr. Craig.
07:47Okay.
07:49Did you lose any teeth last night?
07:51No.
07:53I'm going to shine my light in there just to make sure.
07:54Okay.
07:57Now I'm not a dentist, but it looks like you have a tooth that's broke off on the bottom part
08:01of your jaw.
08:02I don't remember that.
08:05Was Craig hurting you?
08:08No.
08:10No.
08:11No.
08:11How did he hurt you?
08:13No.
08:14He hit you with the cane.
08:15No.
08:16Craig uses a cane.
08:17No.
08:19Who started the fight last night?
08:21I don't know.
08:22No.
08:23Okay.
08:23Would you consider it one of those things where it just happened because of out of anger?
08:29No.
08:30Just kind of a fight that went too far?
08:33OK, so it was just the two of you that were fighting.
08:36Is that right?
08:37What made you decide to tell me the truth?
08:40I didn't want to get nobody in trouble.
08:43All right, well, that takes a man to do that,
08:45so I appreciate it.
08:46Good for you, OK?
08:48I'm going to get rid of this other guy then.
08:56So it just so happens we have a guy
08:58that's up here whose name happens to be Craig
09:01with a huge black eye who actually
09:04walks with a cane on occasion.
09:05So that's a totally different Craig
09:07that just happened to be walking along?
09:09Yeah, yeah, with blood on him as well.
09:11You know, what are the odds?
09:13Nothing to do with it.
09:16Absolute coincidence.
09:22OK, buddy, I'm going to tell these officers
09:25that I'm good to go with you, and they'll
09:27take you anywhere you need to go.
09:30Mickey's been very cooperative at this point.
09:33And I believe, I think that he really doesn't really
09:36remember a lot of what had happened last night.
09:38He just knows that they were fighting,
09:39and it went too far.
09:42We're going to go with first-degree manslaughter.
09:44But I think it's good that he came around.
10:06Do you happen to know any of his relatives?
10:08I know I'm racking your brain, probably,
10:10because that's a long time ago you guys were married.
10:15I'm sorry for this kind of a phone call,
10:16but I appreciate your time.
10:19Bye-bye.
10:22We did get in touch with the ex-wife.
10:24They've been divorced forever.
10:26What we're learning about him is that he just didn't have any relatives around.
10:29So, I mean, usually there's somebody you can find.
10:32For the most part, everybody's got somebody out there that loves them.
10:35And I'm just not, I'm not hearing that in this particular case.
10:39Sad.
10:53The city of Tulsa saw a violent year in 2016,
10:56with record-breaking homicides, armed robberies, and assaults.
11:00The Tulsa County District Attorney's Office says
11:02most of those crimes involved a person who was affiliated with a gang.
11:07It's this fear that has the Tulsa Police gang unit out in full force.
11:11The gang's unit recovered both guns and ammo
11:15after they served nearly a dozen search warrants.
11:18It's a lot like street terrorism.
11:21Police say what makes this so frightening is that
11:23there's no specific geographic boundaries for this gang violence.
11:34Did you see anything?
11:36No, I just see a couple of guys who are.
11:48Yeah, this dude's bleeding.
11:57Crime scene's gonna be over at the car wash where they've got caught at.
12:15To our victim is Elan Shaw.
12:1928-year-old Elan Shaw worked at a popular barbecue restaurant and was the loving father of two daughters.
12:36The victim's friend, who was unharmed, has been taken to homicide for questioning.
12:47There's one there.
12:52There's some out here.
13:02The gentleman said blackmail, white shirt, black shorts, run that way, holding his waistband.
13:10I'm going to hit Boston, the other north.
13:13Over here.
13:15Ready?
13:17While detectives searched the neighborhood for the runner...
13:20You ready?
13:22Brown and Schilling had to homicide to interview the victim's friend.
13:29With the recent events that we've had, people just randomly shooting, it sounds like it fits in with the rest
13:35of this garbage that's going on in the last few weeks.
13:39Bright daylight in the car wash.
13:42You know, the gang lifestyle, friend after friend gets locked up.
13:48But you have to still keep just randomly shooting at each other over nothing.
14:03Well, hopefully you've got some information about who the shooter is.
14:06That would be nice.
14:14What happened?
14:17I was washing my car.
14:19It was up there for about an hour.
14:22And Elan was sitting in the back seat.
14:24And then, I mean, I thought it was fireworks.
14:28I'm not paying nobody no attention.
14:30I'm not even thinking about nobody's shooting.
14:33So then when I looked, it was a dude standing there shooting.
14:39He had on a white T-shirt.
14:42And a sailor hat.
14:54You got to strike while the iron's hot, man.
14:57Because if you don't, forget it.
14:59Nobody's going to care about this thing.
15:02You got to get them before they've been intimidated.
15:07Hey, we already had white T-shirts on the cigarette.
15:11Now he's banging on the windows.
15:14They may want to try to talk to him.
15:18I'm right there.
15:19Yeah, we need to check in before a shizzle.
15:21Okay, stop, stop, stop.
15:25Come here, man.
15:26False police, come here.
15:27We want to talk to you.
15:32Yeah, we need to check that guy.
15:43He's got that door cracked, Ronnie.
15:47He's looking out the windows.
15:59Oh, here we go.
16:04Come here.
16:07Come on back here.
16:08Relax.
16:11Why didn't you just come talking to me?
16:13He was drunk.
16:15He is not the man detectives are looking for.
16:19He did the right thing by coming out and talking to me.
16:21If you hear something, would you please call me?
16:22He sure will.
16:23We should win.
16:25Let's go.
16:31Do you know who this guy was?
16:34Why are they shooting at you guys?
16:36You claiming anything?
16:41The victim's friend says he and Elon have nothing to do
16:44with the local warring gangs.
16:48And it just entered the chamber.
16:50That's when I realized I got my chance to run.
16:54And I seen Elon.
16:56I didn't see no blood, no nothing.
16:58He didn't look like he was shot when we ran across the street.
17:06I don't know if you know Elon has died.
17:14No, he didn't.
17:16No, he didn't.
17:17No, he didn't, man.
17:19This is no longer about you.
17:21It's your mind.
17:23This is about what happened to Elon.
17:26Man.
17:27And you are a part of that because they're shooting at you.
17:36Yes, I'm from 27th Street.
17:39I have not been active since 07.
17:43Okay, so what about Elon?
17:44Has he done something?
17:46He's never been in trouble other than tickets.
17:49You won't find him in the system for nothing.
17:52He's not a target.
17:54Why do you assume he's not a target?
17:57He was aiming.
17:58He was aiming at me.
18:00But you don't know why?
18:01I don't know why.
18:02If you did know, would you tell me?
18:04Yes, because he's dead.
18:07Ain't nothing I can do, man.
18:09I can't bring him back no matter what I do.
18:13I can't bring him back.
18:24I think 27 is a Hoover set.
18:28The Hoover Crips is the big daddy group,
18:31and then there's a bunch of little siblings running around.
18:33You know, there's the 107 Hoovers,
18:35the 5-4th Street Hoovers,
18:37the 29th Street Hoovers,
18:39or 27th Street Hoovers.
18:40But they don't get along all the time.
18:44Any one of those kids can grab a gun and shoot it up,
18:47and then they have their street cred.
18:49So the Elon Shaw case
18:51was going to be a tough one to crack.
18:55It is frustrating when you're dealing with gang shootings.
18:59Always the possibility of retaliation.
19:02Different sets, keeping their mouths closed,
19:04not saying anything,
19:05and believing that they will take care of the issues themselves.
19:12Detectives say our entire community is at risk
19:15with the recent surge in gang violence.
19:18When is enough enough?
19:20And many of them,
19:21including last week's murder of an innocent bystander,
19:25have gone unsolved.
19:25I asked Sergeant Walker why.
19:28It's going to take people putting those gang members in prison.
19:32And unless those people step up
19:34to give police what they need,
19:35Walker says the killings will not stop,
19:38and any of us could be next.
19:48Six months later,
19:51Elon Shaw's friend is back at homicide.
19:54Okay.
19:55It has come to my attention
19:57that you can talk to a couple of detectives this morning.
20:00He has been arrested and is in jail
20:02on an unrelated charge.
20:25I mean, I understand rival gangs,
20:28but typically don't you kind of know who?
20:30Nothing necessarily.
20:32It's on some gangbanging stuff.
20:34They know you from another side,
20:35they'll shoot at you.
20:36That's just, that's how it is.
20:39You know what he's locked up for?
20:41Murder.
20:43He tell you that, or you find out by...
20:45He said it.
20:50We've got a little bit of homework to do on that
20:53to confirm whether or not that guy is out on the streets
20:55if he was locked up.
20:56It's just a matter of proving it to be true.
20:59I don't know.
21:17Hey, Elon, do you need some fire medical?
21:19Run!
21:20Now he has my gun!
21:22Okay, what's going on there?
21:23My girlfriend's in there.
21:24I came home on my lunch break.
21:26He was in there.
21:27He came up behind me.
21:29Who is in there?
21:31Our neighbor.
21:32Your neighbor?
21:33Does he have some weapons?
21:35He has my gun.
21:36Do you need medical attention?
21:39I don't, but I don't know if she does.
21:41My girlfriend's in there.
21:42Okay, I'll get officers on the way.
21:54Hey, Diana, do you have any more information?
21:57Once we came home and found a chair with her girlfriend,
22:03she's got stimulation, stuff going on.
22:06Does it look like she's going to go 10-7?
22:10All right.
22:14The boyfriend came home and caught an intruder in the house
22:17that was assaulting the victim down there, the strangulation.
22:21They got a pulse back, but she's incredible.
22:26I don't know if she's a victim.
22:28I don't know if she's a victim.
22:28I don't know if she's a victim.
22:29Oh, I got it.
22:30I don't know if she's a victim.
22:36All right, so...
22:38Victims upstairs.
22:39On the floor on the left side of the bed.
22:4219-year-old Kelsey Tennant is a sophomore at Tulsa Community College,
22:47training to help people with special needs.
22:49She recently became engaged to her boyfriend, Riley Allen.
23:00Boyfriend was sitting in the officer's car.
23:01He said I could save him.
23:02But we need to get him down there, all right?
23:05Suspect is in that police car, patrol car, face to the east, right?
23:09Suspect, too?
23:10Yes.
23:11Bitch, y'all called suspect out of that apartment, right?
23:13Yeah, we got him out of there.
23:14The suspect was hiding in the bathroom in the apartment next door.
23:19He ran out of the apartment and went right into that apartment.
23:21Right.
23:21He doesn't stay there, not that.
23:23He's pissed me.
23:31That's unreal.
23:34You breaking?
23:36Come here, bring, Greg.
23:37You all in, I'm sorry.
23:39You took the county?
23:40Yeah, we talked to you.
23:42The suspect, 41-year-old Greg Epperson,
23:46was a person of interest in two other investigations.
23:49All right, we're going to get you stuck in the car, Greg.
23:51You got to take your hat down.
23:53All right, and watch your head.
23:56As soon as I saw him, I reckon, huh?
24:00I look at him, and I'm going, that's Greg Epperson.
24:04Unbelievable.
24:04What are the odds?
24:06Do you want the tenant to receive the tenant?
24:10Yeah, we probably need to talk to her, too.
24:12Okay.
24:12The owner of the apartment that Greg fled to
24:15is also taken to homicide.
24:17All right, thanks, guys.
24:19Appreciate it.
24:19We'll see you down there.
24:39Do you need some water or something?
24:41He brought me something.
24:42I appreciate it.
24:48We'll just take you back to this meeting today,
24:50and then I'll start you.
24:53So, you know, my lunch break at 3 o'clock,
24:55and I noticed her car was here.
25:00Maybe she just took a late lunch,
25:02and so I called her a couple times,
25:04and she usually takes a little nap on her lunch,
25:07and that wasn't unusual that she didn't answer.
25:10So I knocked on the door, and now I'm concerned.
25:15So I turned the key and opened the door,
25:16and I saw my rifle case laying on the stairs.
25:21It all happened so fast, I saw it,
25:24and then I saw him.
25:25What was he?
25:26He was standing behind the door.
25:29He punched me in the face,
25:31and then I kind of stumbled backwards,
25:34and then he put me in a hole,
25:36and he's whispering stuff in my ear.
25:40I can't.
25:41I couldn't make any of it out.
25:45And so I punched him in the face.
25:48I slipped out of him and ran outside,
25:51and I ran into the lady that lives in his door.
25:55At this point, you have no idea with Kelsey?
25:57No, I didn't.
26:00Do you know if Kelsey's okay?
26:02She's critical.
26:03She's pretty bad.
26:05Yeah.
26:05I brought her back up.
26:21She's technically brain dead.
26:22They just don't want to talk that way just yet,
26:28but that's basically what they're looking at.
26:34She's not going to make it.
26:38If we could have got him put away.
26:43This apartment where I'm person come out of,
26:45it belongs to the lady in there.
26:48That's who rents the apartment.
26:50I'll start on her.
26:52Hopefully, we can at least find out
26:53what this was all about.
26:58Okay.
26:59I'm Detective Kennedy.
27:04That's your apartment, obviously.
27:07Do you live there by yourself?
27:08Yes.
27:10Okay.
27:10Greg, is he a friend of yours?
27:13He's a very good friend of mine.
27:15But he does not live there?
27:17Not no more.
27:20I don't know where he stays.
27:25Has Greg ever talked to you
27:26about any other cases he's been involved in?
27:39Well, I was really good friends with him
27:42when he was arrested.
27:47What did he say?
27:48Did he say anything about him?
27:49He just told me he didn't know anything about him.
27:52Did you ever talk about another case?
27:54No, but someone else told me about it.
27:57Well, let's go back today.
27:59Okay.
28:01I heard a knock.
28:03I was upstairs getting ready for work.
28:05She says Greg Epperson
28:06suddenly showed up this morning.
28:09He's gone really, really hungry.
28:10Is it okay if I eat?
28:11I was already dressed.
28:12I was walking out the door.
28:15She let Greg stay
28:16as she left for work
28:17before returning in the afternoon.
28:21I'm coming back
28:21and that's when my neighbor came out
28:23and he had blood all over him
28:25and he said,
28:25help me, help me.
28:27He's in my apartment.
28:29He goes, he has a gun.
28:30And I was like, what?
28:32He was like,
28:33I don't know if she's okay.
28:34Please, please.
28:35And I opened the door
28:37and there was Greg.
28:38In?
28:38In the apartment.
28:39In the kid's apartment?
28:40Yes.
28:41I said, Greg, give me the gun.
28:44And he said,
28:44they're trying to kill me.
28:45They're trying to kill me.
28:45They're trying to hurt me.
28:46And I said, Greg, look at me.
28:48Give me the gun.
28:49No one's going to hurt you.
28:50Please just give me the gun.
28:53And so I got the gun
28:55and I walked up the stairs.
28:58And that's when I saw her right there.
29:01And when I turned around
29:02to say something to him,
29:03she was gone.
29:04Greg was?
29:04He was gone.
29:05Okay.
29:08I just left 15 minutes earlier.
29:11He can't put this on you.
29:12I know.
29:13That's not your fault
29:14this happened.
29:19Good witness.
29:20I mean,
29:21she puts him in the apartment
29:23right after the kid comes out of it
29:25and says he's been attacked.
29:28So how did he get in there?
29:29Is that the sliding glass door?
29:30Detective Mike Zanoni
29:32gets new information
29:33from the crime scene.
29:34Hello there.
29:36All right.
29:36She walked in on a burglary.
29:37Right.
29:38You probably went in
29:39the sliding glass door.
29:40Right.
29:40So you went around a corner
29:41and found a bag of clothing
29:43and a cord with blonde hair on it
29:45right next to the victim's apartment.
29:47She goes to work at 10.
29:48She said she usually comes home 2-ish.
29:51She came home for lunch.
29:52She walked in on a burglary.
29:59Wake up.
30:00We got to talk.
30:02I have a seat in the back there.
30:11Gregory, Mike Zanoni.
30:14How you doing?
30:18Okay.
30:19Do you want to talk about
30:20the incident that happened
30:22at the apartment?
30:25I have no issue
30:27talking about
30:28the incident that happened.
30:39Well, see,
30:40we haven't had any rest either.
30:41So we're sitting here
30:42and we're ready to talk now.
30:44Now, you can either do that
30:45or not.
30:46That's your choice.
30:57Okay, we'll be back with you.
31:00All right.
31:08This is a sad one.
31:10This hurts.
31:11This murder here.
31:15That should have never happened to that girl.
31:19Boy, it's terrible.
31:20I don't want to talk about it.
31:37Baby, you're okay.
31:39Yeah, it's okay.
31:43Let's go.
31:45It's so good.
31:48It's so good.
31:49I'm here.
31:50Yeah, we're here.
31:50Brian just be truthful about everything yeah we're pretty good at detecting when
31:57people are lying I want you to just be truthful start off with the incident
32:01what happened on the incident yeah on the incident incident yeah I was in the
32:11backseat playing with his gun he was playing around playing around keep
32:17playing it around and I guess it was shot fired that's it that's a really good
32:23version I don't like it because it's bull because there's things called
32:30forensic evidence at the scene and like I said we've been doing this for years so
32:36why don't you tell me the truth this time
32:53let me look see what it looks like
33:00the victim is 16 years old gunshot man
33:05godly young
33:08Octavio Serrano yeah
33:1216 year old Octavio Tavo Serrano was a student at McLean High School in Tulsa
33:20the witnesses in the back of one of our cars a friend who called 9-1-1 was with the
33:27victim
33:27when patrol arrived oh Brian that's the witness
33:34the victims in the passenger seat playing with the gun and the gun goes up so they pull
33:39over and he calls 911 and starts CPR and all that stuff
33:45they have a lawnmower hanging out of the trunk that he couldn't explain why it was
33:49back there acted like he didn't know it was there was he acting a little suspicious at all or
33:54uh yeah what he said wasn't not enough weird area for something like this this is probably the
34:02highest in neighborhood in the entire city I mean you've got million dollar homes over here
34:06so this is not a neighborhood that we deal with this kind of stuff we're in
34:13hey what's up man oh not much what's up got a uh I mean the story's messy the scene's pretty
34:21contained it looks like these two guys were out here probably burglaring they're wearing little
34:27gloves they're wearing burglar gloves there's like nothing in the car to suggest that he was shot
34:35inside the car we have not found a single drop of blood inside the car but he's got yeah he's
34:43got
34:43down drops on the curb on his shoes on the bottom of his pants which you wouldn't have if you
34:49were in
34:49a seated position so with guns right there and uh that's going to be your casing right there
35:00that's not supposed to be out there right especially with the windows up
35:05yeah when you have the windows up it's not going to do that no this don't make any damn sounds
35:14hey john thanks for coming in do you know if there's a butthole in the deck of the trunk
35:19no I didn't on the driver's side sorry
35:25looks fresh there in an odd spot that is weird but if the trunk is open due to the lawnmower
35:39yeah that goes through he didn't get shot in this car
35:45detectives believe the victim was standing behind the car and was shot through the open trunk
35:51but he didn't shoot himself no this guy's standing back here messing with the lawnmower trying to get
35:56into the trunk and this guy's over here messing with the gun shoots his friend through the trunk
36:01the angles all look right right now it does the casing would be over there
36:10there's no blood so that means that he would have had to stumble over here
36:15we'll talk to this kid and see what he's got to say
36:18it could have been somewhat of an accidental situation
36:21I can promise you this it didn't happen while they were driving down the street
36:33why were you guys over in that neighborhood
36:37we were just cruising
36:41Octavio he was in the back
36:44he was playing with his gun back here
36:47and like
36:49I guess it just
36:51boom
36:59all right
37:01listen
37:01I'm going to give you a fresh time to do this again
37:03because that's that's a bunch of nonsense
37:06would you agree with that
37:09all right
37:10here's the deal
37:11okay
37:13he's he is dead
37:15Octavio
37:16he's dead
37:16yeah he's dead
37:18that's why this is a very very serious matter
37:22hold up hold up
37:27you want some water
37:28is he already dead
37:29yeah
37:34I know it's horrible for you
37:35okay
37:37there's no doubt that you guys were friends
37:39this is why it's important
37:41to tell me everything
37:44I just need to know what happened
37:46and how he got shot
37:53based on where the gun is
37:55and where other things are
37:56I don't think he shot himself
37:57okay
38:02we're gonna meet up
38:03so like
38:04you know
38:04we can hang out
38:06he wanted his gun
38:07I'm like
38:08for what bro
38:09we're going to the store
38:10like
38:10who you had problems with bro
38:12you just want to look cool
38:14you know
38:15I'm like
38:16give me that gun bro
38:17like
38:17you're 16 years old
38:19well like
38:20I took it away from him
38:21like
38:22you know
38:22I took it away from him
38:25later on
38:25we got out the car
38:26and he was just like
38:28trying to like
38:28take it away
38:29you know
38:29and I was like
38:30bro stop bro
38:31like
38:33I know you
38:33you're crazy
38:35and I'm not here bro
38:36I just went like that
38:38like
38:40and when he caught it
38:42like
38:42I guess like
38:43the
38:43the thing
38:44you know
38:45like
38:46boom
38:53I'm gonna show you
38:53a couple of things
38:56here's a view
38:56of the car
38:57okay
38:59this is the driver's side
39:00of the car
39:01your friend is laying
39:02over here
39:03by this driver's side
39:06you see this bullet hole
39:07right here
39:08this is straight on gunshot
39:09to the trunk of the car
39:11right here
39:13you claim
39:14that you're standing
39:15over there
39:15on the front of the car
39:16that you throw
39:17the gun over to him
39:18over here
39:19that's not possible
39:21so
39:21we need you
39:22to be honest
39:24it's either
39:24an accident
39:25or it was
39:25an intentional
39:26situation
39:27intentional means
39:28like
39:29wanting to kill
39:29somebody
39:30yeah
39:31I don't think
39:32you would have
39:32done that
39:33to your friend
39:33intentionally
39:36like
39:36this happened
39:37look
39:38that was back there
39:40he threw it at me
39:42and when I caught it
39:43like
39:44you know
39:46okay
39:47so when you caught it
39:48it just accidentally
39:48went off
39:49fired
39:49yeah
39:51okay
39:51so just so I'm clear
39:53you were holding the gun
39:55and the gun went off
39:56basically
40:07the physical evidence
40:09was everything
40:10in this case
40:11everything
40:12when we confronted him
40:13with the pictures
40:14of what we were talking about
40:16it went from his minimizing
40:18to this is what happened
40:21the gun went off
40:22while in his hands
40:23thus striking him
40:25at the back of the car
40:26it's a death
40:28resulting in his negligence
40:53we're going to head
40:54to the victim's mothers
40:56and notify her
40:57of her son's death
40:58which is going to be miserable
40:59because he's 16 years old
41:01but he's not going to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to
41:20be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able
41:20to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be
41:21able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to
41:22be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able
41:22to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be
41:22able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to
41:22be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able
41:23to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be
41:23able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to
41:23be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able to be able
41:45they were very gracious to us we had Brian's family showing up as well his dad showed up
41:51just beside himself devastated Brian's brother arrived he was super upset and you could tell
41:58that they're close with this family and that they were really good friends they were like best of
42:02friends and such running around in the streets late at night with a gun it's not a good idea
