00:00We have more news coming in.
00:02This is again connected with the controversy that is brewing over the alleged drunken state of the Chief Minister
00:08where we have the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker rejecting all the demands of the opposition
00:13to allow a dope test or an alcohol test on the Chief Minister of Punjab.
00:19The Speaker has said, I reject the letter given by the Congress Party.
00:23The opposition had in fact gone, written to the Speaker speaking about the fact
00:27that there has to be a dope test that has to be done.
00:30A demand that was actually collectively made by the Akali Dal, the BJP and the Congress in the state of
00:37Punjab
00:37against the Amadmi Party.
00:39Government, particularly against the Chief Minister who appeared to be,
00:43all his behaviour was rather unusual on the floor of the Assembly
00:46and that's when they said that there perhaps is a requirement of a dope test or an alcohol test
00:52on the Chief Minister who is a habitual offender.
00:56That's what they had said.
01:07That's what they had said.
01:27That's what they had said.
01:28That's it.
01:28That's what they had said.
01:29The member of the agreement was not a member.
01:32That's what they had said.
01:33You had to tell me before.
01:35What's your name?
01:38I'm going to go to Punjab.
01:40I'll be able to study Punjab.
01:42I'm going to study Punjabi.
01:43I'm going to study Punjab.
01:45I'm going to study Punjab.
01:45I'm going to study Punjab.
01:48I'm going to study Punjabi.
01:49All right, I'm going to go straight back to Aseem for more on that.
01:53this more is a question of propriety
01:55than legality
01:57with this demand now rejected
02:00a demand of a test
02:01a dope on an alcohol test on the Chief
02:03Minister, what really is the way ahead for
02:05the opposition here?
02:10I think opposition as soon as
02:11Vidant Sabah Speaker rejected the demand
02:13of the Congress Party that there will be no dope test
02:15no alcohol test conducted on the
02:17Chief Minister, as soon as the Speaker said
02:19this, there was vociferous protest
02:21by the Congress Party, led by Prataf
02:23Singh Bajwa in the House, and they moved
02:25to the well, continues to raise slogans against
02:27the Chief Minister and the
02:30government, and they
02:31demanded the dope test
02:33as soon as this happened, the Speaker of
02:35Vidant Sabah adjourned the House for
02:3710 minutes, the House will
02:39resume in a few minutes from now on
02:41the BJP has also said, Tarun Chog
02:43the BJP has also said that they
02:45will demand a dope test
02:47while writing to the Governor of Punjab
02:49so this is not going to die down, even though
02:51the Speaker has basically rejected
02:53because the Congress Party had demanded that
02:55the dope test should be done, and it should be done today
02:57itself, but now with the Speaker rejecting
02:59I think holding protests and
03:02raising allegations, this
03:03is the way ahead, because
03:05something which has happened in the House, the Speaker is
03:07the custodian of the House, and now
03:09when he has taken a decision, the Congress
03:11is basically on a vociferous protest from here on
03:13Okay, little to be done with that decision taken
03:15by the Speaker. I am going to thank you for the moment,
03:17Naseem Bassi, with the very latest on that story
03:19from Chandigarh.
03:20Thank you very much.
