TINY SQUIRREL’S CRIES BRING NEIGHBOURS TOGETHER IN HEARTWARMING TREE RESCUE

This is the heartwarming moment a tiny baby squirrel with its eyes still closed was rescued after screaming loudly from a tree in St Catharines, Ontario, Canada.
The distressed animal was first spotted by Li Mi, who was taken aback by the intensity of its cries coming from high up in a tree.
Two passers by quickly stopped after hearing the noise and said they had never seen a baby squirrel so small and vocal, urging Li Mi to contact the humane society for assistance.
However, after discovering they were closed, the group were faced with a difficult decision as the tiny creature continued to cry out.
Concerned for its safety, they researched whether handling it would risk the mother rejecting it, and ultimately decided to intervene.
As the situation unfolded, something unexpected happened, another baby squirrel, believed to be a sibling, appeared from a higher hole in the tree after responding to the cries.
A neighbour soon arrived with a ladder, and the small rescue team attempted to return the baby squirrel to the lower tree cavity.
But the little one refused to settle, making it clear it did not want to remain there.
Instead, the group carefully tried placing it into the upper hole where its sibling had appeared from, a decision that proved successful and much easier.
Once reunited, the baby squirrels appeared to calm down, nestled together safely inside the tree.
Li Mi said "It's so fulfilling to me, because everyone stopped by and helped take care of this little creature.
"When we help, we do get something back for ourselves, and it makes us human."
