A fiery moment on Capitol Hill has gone viral after Sara Jacobs sharply confronted Pete Hegseth during a heated hearing on the Iran war.

In a tense exchange, Jacobs questioned the administration’s definition of “victory,” arguing that the current situation reflects serious strategic failure. Her remarks escalated into a blistering critique of Hegseth’s leadership, even raising concerns about his judgment and calling for accountability at the highest level.

Hegseth pushed back, defending the operation and insisting that the administration has taken all necessary steps to protect U.S. interests. The clash highlights growing divisions in Washington over the direction of the conflict and the cost of continued escalation

00:00On Easter Sunday, President Trump threatened to destroy Iran's bridges and power plants, writing, quote,
00:06Open the fucking strait, you crazy bastards, or you'll be living in hell. Just watch.
00:12My office's phones have been ringing off the hook.
00:15I've heard from so many military families concerned about the president's mental fitness
00:19and whether he's fit to serve as our commander-in-chief, given that he's sending their loved ones into harm's
00:23way.
00:2413 American troops have died.
00:26More than 380 have been wounded.
00:28The Strait of Hormuz, which was wide open, is now closed.
00:32Less than 90% of traffic through the strait is still not going, despite the ceasefire.
00:37Mr. Secretary, I'm asking about what's happening right now.
00:39Did you explain that to your constituents when Joe Biden was asleep at the wheel and he had an AWOL
00:43secretary defense?
00:43Okay, Mr. Secretary, how about this next post?
00:46How can I explain this next post to my constituents?
00:49On Easter Sunday, President Trump threatened to destroy Iran's bridges and power plants, writing, quote,
00:56Open the fucking strait, you crazy bastards, or you'll be living in hell.
01:00Just watch.
01:01And two days later, President Trump wrote, quote,
01:04A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.
01:08I don't want that to happen, but it probably will.
01:11My office's phones have been ringing off the hook.
01:14I've heard from so many military families concerned about the president's mental fitness
01:18and whether he's fit to serve as our commander-in-chief, given that he's sending their loved ones into harm's
01:23way.
01:23Our troops who have shown incredible bravery and tactical proficiency deserve to know that their leaders are focused and stable.
01:32So, Mr. Secretary, you are with the president a lot, and it pains me to even have to ask this
01:38about our president,
01:39but my constituents' lives are at stake.
01:42Do you believe that the president is mentally stable enough to be the commander-in-chief?
01:48Did you ask the same question of Joe Biden for four years?
01:51Mr. Secretary, Joe Biden is not the president.
01:54Mr. Trump has been president for a year and a half, and I'm asking you right now.
01:57And I won't even engage with the level of disparagement that you're putting on the commander-in-chief,
02:01who indeed is, I mean, every single day.
02:06Mr. Secretary, Biden is not the president.
02:08He's the sharpest, most insightful commander-in-chief we've had in generations.
02:11And you want to compare, I mean, you want to ask that question after you and your fellow Democrats defended
02:15Joe Biden,
02:16who could barely speak and didn't know what day of the week it was?
02:17Mr. Secretary, as you know, as you know.
02:19He governed through an auto pen.
02:20He had a secretary of defense who went AWOL for a week.
02:23I can't be gone for ten minutes without a little bit.
02:26I will reclaim my time.
02:27Thank you so much.
02:27Your lady's time.
02:28She reclaimed it.
02:29So, as Mr. Jimenez said, we should be taking leaders at their word.
02:33So, is there a reason that we should not be taking our leader at his word?
02:37Iran should not underestimate the will of President Trump and the United States military to achieve our mission.
02:44Okay.
02:45Well, I want you to know this is not a partisan thing.
02:47In fact, many, many Democrats have had, many, many Republicans have had these same questions.
02:52Marjorie Taylor Greene said he's out of control and he's gone insane.
02:57Candace Owens said the 25th Amendment needs to be invoked.
03:00Megan Kelly, Tucker Carlson, who you used to work with, Alex Jones, Stephanie Grisham, the lifts could go on.
03:06So, how do I explain to my constituents that while they are in harm's way, their commander-in-chief is
03:12posting these unhinged posts?
03:15How did you explain to your constituents what happened on October 6th or what happened in Afghanistan or what happened
03:21with the debacle and the withdrawal in Afghanistan where the troops were left?
03:24How did you explain that to Joe Biden's leadership?
03:26Mr. Secretary, I'm not asking you about the previous administration.
03:27How did you explain that to the Marines that didn't get medals, that we restored their medals because of that
03:31disastrous withdrawal in Afghanistan?
03:32Mr. Secretary, I'm asking about what's happening right now.
03:33Did you explain that to your constituents when Joe Biden was asleep at the wheel and he had an AWOL
03:37Secretary of Defense?
03:37Okay, Mr. Secretary, how about this next post?
03:39How can I explain this next post to my constituents?
03:47I'm Jewish, so this doesn't really bother me, but my understanding is that this is quite offensive to many Christians.
03:54So, how do you explain this post?
03:56I'm not here to explain posts.
03:58We have an incredible commander-in-chief who puts our troops first.
04:01I'm here for a budget hearing about our troops.
04:03This is about our troops.
04:04It's a historic budget that's giving us a chance to defeat our adversaries, and President Trump is doing that in
04:10world-class fashion.
04:11This is about our troops.
04:12We have claimed your time, Mr. Secretary.
04:14This is about our troops.
04:15This is about who is commanding our troops and if our troops can trust that they are being sent into
04:20harm's way under good strategy.
04:22The mental stability of our commander-in-chief is deeply important to our troops.
04:27It's deeply important to this country.
04:29It is our troops live at stake.
04:29It wasn't important to you during Joe Biden.
04:31I'll remind you that when there were concerns, Democrats came together, and he was not our nominee for president, so
04:37I encourage you to do have the same courage that Democrats had.
04:41Mr. Secretary, you keep saying that he is the best commander-in-chief we've ever had, the best negotiator.
05:08Mr. Secretary, if you think that this is what winning looks like, then maybe we should be questioning your mental
05:14stability.
05:14Maybe you are the one responsible for this failure, and the president should think about replacing you.
05:19Mr. Chairman, I yield back.
