00:00ED has chosen not to oppose the regular bail given to Vinesh.
00:04Delhi's Patiala House Court has today granted IPAC co-founder Vinesh bail.
00:12This happened after ED, the Enforcement Directorate, chose not to oppose the bail.
00:18And this is with regards to the money laundering case.
00:21The court had noted the statement,
00:24and in view of the voluntary and purposeful cooperation extended by Vinesh Chendale during investigation
00:29and without prejudice to the rights and contention of ED, ED is not opposing the present bail application.
00:35The ED sought conditions to be imposed while granting bail to Vinesh.
00:40The court imposed the conditions that he will not tamper evidence and will not influence witnesses
00:46and that he will be cooperating.
00:47Remember, his arrest had generated a lot of controversy with the Trinamul Congress saying
00:56that there has been misuse of agencies, central agencies, by the BJP-led central government.
01:03And because of that, there has been an attempt to trying and getting more details of this developing story.
01:13Vinesh now being granted.
01:15Bail, he's one of the co-founders.
01:17Remember, IPAC has been working with Mahmata Banerjee since 2021.
01:27Srishti Oja is joining us.
01:29So, Srishti, what really made the ED not oppose this bail?
01:36Well, Maren, it's definitely an interesting development for two reasons.
01:39Firstly, we all remember how this entire, you know, the entire case with ED's raids at IPAC's headquarters had unfolded
01:48and the political turmoil that it had led to, especially considering it had happened weeks ahead of the West Bengal
01:54Assembly elections.
01:56Now, a day after the polling in West Bengal is complete, we have seen not only Vinesh Chandail, the IPAC
02:03director, get bail,
02:04but also, interestingly, the ED has decided to not oppose it.
02:07Now, the reason that they have given today before court to not oppose this bail was stating that Vinesh Chandail
02:14has decided,
02:15has cooperated with the investigation and there was voluntary and purposeful cooperation,
02:21which has been extended by him during the probe and therefore, the bail application.
02:26However, what they did seem to have conditions imposed on him, which is exactly what the court has done.
02:35But while doing that, the court has permitted him to, that he has to cooperate with the probe
02:41and provide all the details that remain accessible to the ED as long as their investigation in this case continues.
02:47So, these are the reasons that the ED has given, but the TMC, as we know since the beginning,
02:53has clearly maintained that ED's case against IPAC was basically the entire reason,
03:01all the allegations that were put by ED were only to affect the TMC in the West Bengal Assembly polls.
03:08And the fact that, you know, the timing of this development would definitely...
03:11And so, Patiala House Court has granted bail to Vinesh, who is one of the co-founders of IPAC.
03:19Remember, mid-election, the IPAC had wrapped up its entire operations in Kolkata and they had gone packing.
03:28So, Vinesh now being granted bail.
