00:00The Federal Communications Commission is ordering a review of all ABC network broadcasting licenses.
00:05The Disney-owned network has been told to file renewals for all of their licensed stations by
00:09May 28th. This is the latest swing in an ongoing battle between the Trump administration and Disney
00:15over late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, a man who has made no secret about disliking the president.
00:20The move by the FCC is no doubt in response to what many are calling a tasteless joke by Kimmel,
00:25that First Lady Melania Trump had, quote, the glow of an expectant widow. That's a joke he made just
00:31two days before the White House press gala and the attempted assassination of the president.
00:35He says the joke was a reference to the age difference between President Trump and his wife,
00:39which is 24 years. But the First Lady posted on social media saying that Kimmel's hateful and
00:44violent rhetoric is intended to divide the country and it's time for ABC to take a stand. The
00:49president echoed her sentiments in his own post. But Monday night, Kimmel doubled down, defending
00:53his joke. And an ABC source exclusively told Page Six that the network has no plans to suspend
00:58or fire him. The FCC didn't respond to the post's request for comment, but Disney told us that
01:03historically they've operated in, quote, full compliance with FCC rules and added that they
01:09are prepared to show that through the appropriate legal channels.
