00:02The White House is now running a series of TV ads featuring President Trump paid for
00:07by the U.S. government, and the newest one may look familiar.
00:11It shows Trump walking down a hallway with audio of him calling this, quote, the final
00:16battle.
00:17Take a listen.
00:18We will cast out the communists, Marxists, and fascists.
00:21We will throw off the sick political class that hates our country.
00:25We will rout the fake news media and we will liberate America from these villains once
00:32and for all.
00:33And then at the end, this.
00:36See there at the bottom?
00:38Paid for by the U.S. government.
00:40The ad aired during at least two NFL games on Sunday, but here's what's getting attention.
00:46The ad is nearly identical to a video Trump posted during his 2024 presidential campaign.
00:51That version included his campaign logo and a number to text.
00:56The new version drops those and adds that government-funded disclaimer.
01:00And it's not the only one.
01:02At least three government-funded Trump ads have aired in recent days, including one denouncing
01:07communism and socialism, and another built around his July 4th speech at Mount Rushmore.
01:13Some Republicans are questioning the ads, too.
01:16Louisiana Senator John Kennedy was asked about them on CBS Face the Nation on Sunday.
01:20I don't think any public official, including President Trump or Kristi Noem or John Kennedy,
01:28should spend public money on private ads for themselves.
01:34Now, the White House sees it differently.
01:38And it does.
01:39The White House calls these public service announcements, saying they are, quote, very
01:44clearly not campaign ads.
01:46President Trump is not on the ballot and there is no call to action.
01:49Four Democratic lawmakers are now demanding the White House take the ads down and disclose
01:55how much they cost.
01:56In a letter to White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, they call them a, quote, egregious
02:01and illegal misuse of taxpayer money.
02:03.
