00:00Well, 7.40 p.m. tonight, the Angels are in town to take on the Chicago White Sox.
00:04And most people are like, yeah, Jose Soriano's on the mound.
00:07They're not really paying too much attention to baseball, particularly West Coast action,
00:10until you realize he leads Major League Baseball.
00:12He's tied with five wins.
00:13His ERA, Tom Vecchio, this isn't through one start or two.
00:18This is through basically an entire month.
00:20A .24.
00:23What happens tonight?
00:24Angels and White Sox.
00:25Goodness.
00:27So, I think the Angels bounce back.
00:29Back after this little losing streak, and he powers them to win.
00:32It's not some surprise.
00:33He's obviously been unbelievable.
00:34And, yes, he is due for some regression.
00:37But, like you said, .24 ERA.
00:39His ex-ERA we're still looking at is still in a good spot.
00:43We're looking at him at .273.
00:44So, he's due for regression, but a .273 ERA would still be unbelievable.
00:48And, you know, Davis Martin on the other side, I think he's actually a pretty good pitcher.
00:52He is.
00:52But the White Sox aren't as good of a team as we see that the Angels are top to bottom.
00:57The hitting that we saw from the White Sox last night really isn't sustainable, especially when we're dealing with a
01:02pitcher, Jose Sororano, who is an immense ground ball pitcher.
01:06He's also great at getting out of trouble.
01:07If he does let guys on the base, he can induce those inning-inning double plays.
01:11So, minus 140 or so.
01:13I think it's a fair line for the Angels tonight.
01:16I'm still seeing eights in the market, though, as a total, Tom.
01:21What am I – if they're going to regress, these are two pitchers that have kept the ball in the
01:27ballpark, kept the ball on the ground.
01:29I don't know, cold night, sugar.
01:31Is there any reason why we shouldn't look at it under here?
01:34We should be looking under.
01:35I'm seeing 54 degrees and just a touch of wind blowing out.
01:38So, really, shouldn't be too much offense, Ty.
01:41And, look, the way Sororano suppresses hard contact and fly balls and bring them to ground balls, the White Sox
01:48are on a team outside of Murakami that have a ton of power.
01:51They're going to threaten to score four or five runs on a nightly basis.
01:56Yeah, it's kind of interesting to see how this is all going to play out, Tom.
01:58But even some of those guys, like, just having fun in Major League Baseball.
02:01I find – coming into the season, I wasn't high on the Houston Astros.
02:04But I said to myself, you know what, if they can stay healthy and Jordan Alvarez comes back and he
02:08gives them anything, that's going to be a boon.
02:10Dudes hitting .358 with power.
02:12They can't get out of their own way.
02:13So, if you look at Major League Baseball right now, Tom, in the standings, anything surprising to you so far?
02:18It's just like, hey, Mets and Phillies, what the heck is going on?
02:21Yeah, a lot of those teams at the bottom are pretty bad.
02:24You know, I would say I'm surprised that the Rays are doing so well.
02:28I did not expect them to be this strong out the gate.
02:31Like, I know they'd always be a pesky team, but this high up is a little bit surprising.
02:35You know, the Astros being down there, they have one of the best offenses in the league.
02:38They're a fifth or sixth when it comes to run score.
02:40They have the worst pitching staff in the MLB, the most runs allowed, over 174 so far.
02:46So, to see that kind of discrepancy where offense is so good and the pitching is so bad kind of
02:51does surprise me.
