00:00You know, don't dwell on the bad four things that happened in your lives together
00:03or the argument you might have had a month before she passed.
00:06Remember all the wonderful things that you did together.
00:09I lost my elderly mother, but life kept moving and my grief feels minimized
00:14because I'm an adult and her passing was expected.
00:16How do you grieve when the world doesn't pause around you?
00:19You'll always grieve.
00:20This woman, I mean, you never forget your mother.
00:23That's a given.
00:24It just is what it is.
00:26Hopefully she wasn't taken early on.
00:28She was an aging woman.
00:30But it's still a mother, and you still never will replace it with anybody else.
00:35There's nobody that does come into that void.
00:37So, you know, you try the best you can, but remember the good things.
00:42I always try to, you know, don't dwell on the bad four things that happened in your lives together
00:46or the argument you might have had a month before she passed.
00:49Remember all the wonderful things that you did together, and hopefully that gets through you.
00:54Also, if you really feel like you're not showing up for your daily responsibilities
00:58in the way you should and you're really struggling, I think it's okay to say to people,
01:02like, I'm grieving right now, and, like, people give you that pass.
01:07And it's, yeah, the world doesn't stop around you,
01:10but certainly people are understanding and empathetic.
01:12I just saw a wonderful show last night.
01:15It's called Shrinking.
01:16I don't know if you've even seen it.
01:17Yeah, I've heard of it.
01:18But she lost her mother, and she plays the dead mother card on everything that she does.
01:23And the father is a psychiatrist.
01:25Finally says, you cannot play the dead mother card anymore.
01:28It's two years later.
01:29But it was, you know, exactly like this.
01:32At some point, you have to let it go.
01:34You can't grieve openly as much.
01:36But in your heart, you always have an empty spot.
01:39Modern problems.
01:40Classic solutions.
