00:00In the past 25 years, I've always reckoned that it was the best marathon ever.
00:05And spur of the moment, I just suddenly decided I want to do it again.
00:11End of career, perhaps.
00:14I am 86 years old and doing here, I guess, having fun.
00:21I'm going to run the marathon here.
00:24Very nervous, always, every marathon, extremely nervous.
00:28No, I've run London Marathon the first time and only other time, 25 years ago.
00:35Spur of the moment decision.
00:37Amazing city, I think amazing vibes as well. I don't know you.
00:41Lived here a couple of years, between 2020 and 2022, and glad to run here in the UK.
00:47Nervous, excited, everything, everything, mixed feelings, I would say.
00:54For me, just nervous.
00:55Third marathon, yeah, first London Marathon.
00:58And for me, I did New York in 2024, and that's it.
01:01I'm running on behalf of Children with Cancer.
01:05It's my first marathon, and yeah, just proving myself that I can do it, and also raising money for a
01:12good cause.
01:14Sebastian Saw said he was living proof nothing is impossible after becoming the first athlete to break the two-hour
01:22barrier in an official competition to win the London Marathon in a world-record one hour, 59 minutes and 30
01:30seconds.
01:31Also among those participating this year were the fathers of two girls killed in the Southport attack, who crossed the
01:39finish line of the London Marathon together.
01:41David Stancombe and Sergio Aguilar were among more than 60,000 people to tackle the race and completed the course
01:50in a time of four hours and 36 minutes.
01:53A little bit nervous.
01:55All of my friends are in red, white, in the red section, so I'm in blue, so I'm on my
02:00own, so a little bit nervous, but yeah.
02:02Just knowing that I'm able to raise money for a good cause, and just prove to myself that I've been
02:07able to do it, it'll be very rewarding.
02:11So, yeah, I'm excited, but nervous.
02:14Well, I'm at the moment on a 1,000 marathon challenge, so today I've done 830, and this is my
02:21831st and my 4th London.
02:24Yeah, I've been raising for various charities over the last 10, 12 years, the likes of British Legion, Help for
02:32Heroes, Holidays for Heroes, the Arctic One Foundation, and I've raised about £86,000 a date.
02:39Well, yeah, I'm actually, this is called a para roller skate, and I hold the world record, I set it
02:46in 2023 at London at 3 hours 11, and I took 22 minutes off it last year at Manchester at
02:542.48, so I'm hoping to try and better that again today.
