00:00How about this one Friday night?
00:01I was like, you know what?
00:01I'm going against the public here.
00:03I'm going to take those Houston Rockets because Kevin Durant's going to show up.
00:05He's not going to let them get a sweep in.
00:07You know what?
00:07Back into the series we go.
00:09Durant's like, yeah, I'm good.
00:10It's not even my knee.
00:11It feels like my ankle now.
00:12I just don't feel like playing at this point.
00:14So then you fast forward to game number four, and Durant's like, yeah,
00:16I ain't playing in this game either.
00:17Now it turns out he might be down at least two to three weeks.
00:20Well, that could turn into two to three months because they're going to get
00:22sent home sooner than later by the Los Angeles Lakers.
00:25But they did fight last night, Joe, and got a victory there without KD.
00:30Over the Lakers to go back to Los Angeles.
00:33And they scored more than 100 points, which is impressive and didn't need
00:37overtime to do it, right?
00:38115 they dropped last night.
00:40Where's that been?
00:41And they did it without Durant.
00:43So it felt like that was a game.
00:46You talked about punting with Minnesota.
00:48It felt like the Lakers, up three games and done, were not going to,
00:53they weren't going to lay it all out of the table, especially heading back home
00:57to L.A.
00:58Yeah, I think the Lakers are in good, they're in good shape to advance here
01:03at some point.
01:04Let's hear from the coaches after last night's game.
01:09Tonight, everything seemed to really click.
01:11Just what did you like about your team's resiliency and what you saw overall
01:14tonight?
01:15I think our aggressiveness was on display from the start.
01:20You know, first time holding them outside of 30-point first quarter.
01:23So much better effort there, defensive intensity across the board.
01:27I loved our ball pressure, forcing 24 turnovers for 30 points and 17 of those
01:32being steals.
01:32So our activity was great, and that's made the difference from the start.
01:36You know, it's obviously very challenging without your two leading scorers to
01:41generate offense.
01:42I think we'll take a look at the process again on that end as well.
01:47And, you know, I know, you know, our points per shot and our expected points per shot were
01:54slightly below our season average.
01:57So there, you know, to me, again, it goes back to the two keys, take care of the ball and
02:03we'll look at that and how we can be better there.
02:07Joe, protocols, injury management, you know, philosophy from your doctors, it all goes out
02:13the window in the playoffs.
02:14And the reason I'm bringing this up is, Joe, we've seen it in the past, you know, in the
02:17NFL, hey, don't check that guy for concussion.
02:20Get him back into the game as quick as you can, because if you don't test him, he can play
02:23and then we'll deal with the aftermath afterwards.
02:25You have one of the most talented young players that we've seen in the NBA over the past 25 years
02:29in Victor Webinyama.
02:30He looks like he's going to be a bona fide superstar.
02:33That bona fide superstar drilled his head hard enough onto the court where he had a concussion.
02:39And he said to himself, oh, this is going to be interesting.
02:42He's probably going to be down for at least one week, then get evaluated.
02:45Is this going to mess up the series?
02:47Joe, can you please tell me how many games he missed in the series so far?
02:51One, I believe that was it.
02:54It seemed to be, well, he showed up to the right spot.
02:57So that's a good sign.
02:58I think he knew his name and that was it.
03:01And by the way, they won that game without him.
03:03So not really sure what the rush was.
03:06I think they said the average concussion protocol in the NBA is about nine days.
03:13I don't think they made it to nine days for he made it back.
03:17I mean, it's, it's again, I hope he's healthy.
03:19I hope they make the right decision.
03:21It's just so interesting how things are treated here.
03:22Like if this was the regular season, Joe, like in the regular season, why would he miss three or four
03:26games?
03:26But in the playoffs, he would miss one game.
03:28Do you know what I mean?
03:29Like it's just some things I just take a look at and say, this doesn't make sense.
03:32But the way it is here, the Spurs pick up the victory once again last night.
03:37And rightfully so.
03:38We want to see the Spurs advance.
03:39But just odd, like, yeah, I was unhappy.
03:41I thought I could have played earlier than that.
03:42It's just crazy.
03:43Like concussions are so serious when they want it to be.
03:46And then we're, oh, hey, everything's on the line.
03:48Get back out there quick, quick kid.
03:50And he was dominant, by the way, too.
03:52He was.
03:53And, of course, after the game, he indicated that the way his return to play was handled was, quote, very
04:00disappointing, end quote.
04:02But did want everyone to know that he was treated well by the Spurs medical staff, whatever that means.
04:08But he said he didn't want to be a distraction.
04:10So I'm going to be interested to see exactly how that was very disappointing to him.
