00:00Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has described former High Court Judge Abdul Halim Aman as suitable to lead the Malaysian Anti
00:08-Corruption Commission, citing his background in the judiciary and lack of political or business ties.
00:14He also expressed appreciation for outgoing Chief Azambaki, saying he had carried out his duties as best as possible.
00:23Anwar said Halim's background in the judiciary, with no links to major business interests or political parties, makes him suitable
00:30to lead the MACC and further strengthen its capabilities.
00:35Halim, 69, will succeed Azam, whose tenure ends on May 12, after three consecutive one-year extensions since his appointment
00:43in March 2020.
00:44He brings more than two decades of judicial experience, beginning as a Judicial Commissioner in 2005, serving in Timurloh and
00:52Kuantan before being elevated to the High Court in 2007.
00:57He later served in Penang, Johor Bahru and Sha'alam before retiring in 2023.
