00:00Could the private sector be working from home soon?
00:03Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim called on the private sector today to consider implementing
00:07flexible work arrangements similar to those practiced in the public sector, including
00:12work from home.
00:13Anwar, who was also the finance minister, said the move could help reduce fuel consumption,
00:18ease cost pressures, and maintain workforce productivity and morale, reported Burnama.
00:24He said employers should be more flexible and pragmatic in managing their operations
00:28in light of rising cost pressures.
00:31On April 1st, Anwar said the cabinet had agreed to implement a work from home policy for employees
00:36in ministries, agencies, statutory bodies, and government-linked companies, effective
00:41April 15th, to ensure energy security amid fuel supply constraints caused by the Middle East
00:46conflict.
00:48On Wednesday, government spokesman Fahmy Fahdell said Malaysia has saved about 334,000 litres
00:54of fuel since the civil service's work from home policy kicked off.
