09:00It's just kind of a little getaway from the house and all the indoor chores.
09:06We had a two-month-old baby at home, very colicky, didn't sleep, and, you know, just very sleep-deprived
09:15on my part.
09:17I had my golf cart carrying all my supplies and I went to go move a bag of potting soil
09:24over and it landed and got stuck on the gas pedal.
09:27The golf cart was headed towards our well.
09:32If it had stayed straight, I think I would have been okay.
09:35But then it just took a sharp left and threw me off.
09:42My daughter all of a sudden says to me,

09:46But then she said, Dad, it's going really fast and Mom is chasing it.
09:50So I get up thinking this is going to be funny to watch.
09:58The golf cart went about two football fields in length before it crashed into the fence.
10:11I was just very happy when it finally stopped so I could get to it.

14:18It was pretty much a normal day at work.
14:20I got home.
14:22I started cooking dinner.
14:24And our son, who was three at the time, dropped an eggshell on the ground.
14:28And I bent over to pick it up.
14:29And that's when I just had this extreme, sharp pain.
14:32And it sent me to the ground.
14:34My back problem was nonexistent until that moment in time.
14:44I just hear this loud, like, scream.
14:46Like, I thought someone died.
14:48And I hear a loud thud.
14:49And I go in there.
14:50And he's just on the ground in pain.
14:52My son, he was completely confused.
14:55Did not know what was going on.

15:02I went into practical mode.
15:03I was just like, let's get to the hospital.
15:05And so at first, you know, I tried different things.
15:07I tried getting my son's stroller.
15:09And I tried to put him in the stroller.
15:11I was absolutely screaming in my pants.
15:13Yeah, there was no way I was fitting in the stroller.
15:14It just wasn't going to happen.
15:16And so finally, I just, I saw my son's, like, blanket on the ground.
15:19I was like, you know what?
15:20I'm going to roll you onto this blanket.
15:21And then just drag you out.
15:26There was a lot of comments, like, why didn't you call an ambulance?
15:30I don't have money for that.
15:32I'm just like, who has money for an ambulance?

15:37I think we were more worried about, like, what the neighbors would think.
15:41We just moved to this new neighborhood.
15:42And they're going to see me dragging out this body out the front door.
15:51Logistically, that's when the nightmare started.
15:53Because we had to figure out how to get me into the back of the truck.
15:57So then we got a medicine ball.
16:00What we ultimately decided to do was use it as a ramp.
16:03As Lacey pushed my body over so that I could sit on top of the ball inside of the truck.
16:09When we were putting him into the truck, I just thought it was hilarious.
16:12I thought if anyone was watching us, we'd look like we're crazy people.
16:16It's absolutely not dignifying at all.
16:18I was humiliated.
16:20I'm like, see, this is why you should work out.
16:22You know, he hates when I say that.
16:23As we were driving to the hospital, every single curve and bump, I felt it all.
16:29And it felt like it was an eternity to go three miles.
16:32At the hospital, you can't sit down in the wheelchair.
16:36And so he just lays forward on the wheelchair.
16:39They did scans on my lower back and they said, unfortunately, you have herniated two discs in your back.
16:46They let me know that I needed to go see a specialist and that it would require PT and possibly
16:52further medical diagnosis.
16:54I would say I'm about 90% to 95% better now.
16:58I have started working out.
17:00My wife, I have to thank for that.
17:03And his life is completely better now that he works out.
17:06And it absolutely is better.
17:08So always listen to your wife.
