In a massive jolt to the Aam Aadmi Party on Friday, seven of its Rajya Sabha MPs, including Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal, quit the party and joined the BJP on Friday.

00:16In a stunning and what looks like coordinated move, seven of Amadmi Party's ten Rajasabha MPs led by the party's

00:27primary strategist Raghav Chadha have now resigned from the party, crossed over to the BJP.

00:34Remember, this is not just a defection. This is a surgical strike.

00:39By moving with two-third majorities, these seven lawmakers have successfully invoked the merger clause of the anti-defection law,

00:50meaning they keep their seats while joining the ruling party, the Treasury benches.

00:58Now, who are these seven people? Let's throw them on the screen for you to understand in detail what really

01:04is happening inside the Amadmi Party.

01:07All right, we'll begin with Raghav Chadha, the articulate face, the poster boy of Amadmi Party.

01:14Then there is Dr. Sandeep Pathak, the organization's Chanakya, as many were calling him.

01:20He also took over after Raghav Chadha was removed as the leader there of the party in Rajasabha.

01:27There is Ashok Mittal, he's the education tycoon, remember.

01:31Harbhajan Singh, the legendary cricketer there.

01:33There is Rajinder Gupta, the industrialist.

01:35There is Vikramjit Singh's Aane, the philanthropic voice there.

01:39And of course, there is Swati Malewala, a long-time activist who has been at odds with the leadership for

01:46over a year now, as I can recall.

01:50Now, why is this story so fascinating or so much needs to be read into it?

01:57Because if this had been about the exodus of Raghav Chadha, it is a story which is well known.

02:03But an exodus of two-thirds, more than two-thirds, seven out of ten MPs in Rajasabha, that's a story

02:10nobody imagined.

02:10And I think I can stick my neck out to say that this is a coordinated move.

02:16Stuff like this doesn't just happen randomly.

02:19That means there has been months of coordination that has gone on behind closed doors with the BJP, with these

02:27members as well.

02:29Of course, the Aamadni party has come out to say that this is Operation Lotus.

02:34There are others who are saying this is Operation Washing Machine because one of the members got an ED raid.

02:39He is one of those who is joining the party now.

02:41So what exactly happened?

02:43Who is responsible?

02:45And importantly, what next for the Aamadni party?

02:49Before we go into all of that, let's quickly take a look at with what words did these seven people

06:14They are told that Raghav Chadha, along with several others, will meet the BJP chief, Nitin Nabeen as well.

06:28And what is the BJP, in fact, what is the Amadmi Party saying at this point?

06:33Sanjay Singh, one of the only three MPs left now of Amadmi Party in Rajya Sabha, came out to call

09:36If we recount there has been Yogi Indriyadav that came first, then it was Ashitosh, then it was Kumar Vishwa

09:42Some big names have left them around the way as well

09:45But this is different, this is not defection of one or two members, this is a surgical strike

09:52Nobody expected 7 out of 10 gone, clearly Amati Party looks like they are in shock, they had no idea

09:59Well they definitely had a certain idea about a few of them but you have to give it to the

10:03BJP

10:04The kind of negotiations that have happened that 7 members of parliament announce it in one go

10:09And there is of course a reason for it, if one of them had announced it earlier, there would have

10:13been the defection law that would have come into play

10:15So 7 in total deciding and then announcing it

10:19Now it was of course kept under wraps about the official announcement timeline

10:23But I can tell you that sources within the Abadi Party were aware that at least with Raghav Chadha, Sandeep

10:30There is something brewing, that they are likely going to be moving away

10:34And they did try to possibly reach out but with Raghav Chadha, we have now seen it, it has been

10:39almost two years

10:40That as Saurabh Hardwaj also said, he wasn't speaking against the Prime Minister or the Home Minister in the parliament

10:46or against the BJP

10:47And was clearly not even speaking in support of Amati Party leaders like Arvind Kejriwal

10:51So a huge, huge setback without a doubt

10:54You are right, there have been others as well from the coterie that have resigned and left the party

10:59But when seven members of parliament quit en masse, it is a jolt to a party

11:04Yeah, that's right, because had this story been just about Raghav Chadha joining the BJP

11:08Perhaps it would not have been such a big breaking news, right?

11:11We would have probably just run it on the ticker and said yet, well it had to happen, it has

11:14happened

11:15But the way in which the magnitude of the story comes from the fact that this is the biggest exodus

11:21Amati Party has seen

11:22And this precisely wipes out their presence in Rajya Sabha as well

12:03See, what Raghav Chadha said in the press conference was the two-third of the Rajya Sabha members

12:09That is the seven members, they will be merging with the BJP

12:12So what technically it means is that they will be a part of the BJP

12:16And right now I would also like to show you what's happening here at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi,

12:24Today has been a very surprising and a day where this press conference came in from Raghav Chadha

12:31Along with Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal

12:33Where they announced that they are leaving, they are quitting Am Admi Party

12:40And today they are going to be a part of the BJP

12:51The Rajya Sabha MPs from the Am Admi Party

12:53Who have left their Am Admi Party and are a part of BJP

14:29And ultimately, it was clear that all of them would be voting for them

14:42We cannot say no to any of these conditions that you are also mentioning

14:47But yes, this is not a deal that has cracked in one day

14:51There were signals that were coming in from Raghav Chadha since months now

14:55He was removed as the deputy leader of Ahmad B party

15:01And long before that, he was non-reactive to what was happening in the Ahmad B party

15:05He was not seen in the party events

15:08And along with him, the other name is Swati Malibal

15:11We've already seen that episode of Swati Malibal inside CM's residence

15:15When she has been putting allegations of the kind of behaviour she underwent

15:20So there have been talks, it seems

15:24And the planning has gone long

15:27It's not a work that has happened in just one day, two day, weeks

15:32But yes, months of planning has been done

15:35Because seven people at one time, seven MPs together

15:39So convincing them, coordinating everything

15:42It takes time, Sonal
