00:10a 9-1-1 call came in an armed intruder broke into this house did you see her like the
00:15loudest bang
00:16i saw my wife laying on the ground she was only 39 years old at the peak of her life
00:23it was awful
00:24all i kept thinking about were her kids and how are they gonna get through life without her
00:31we have a murderer in camouflage running around the neighborhood
00:35the entire street was full of state troopers and police dogs do you know of anybody who would
00:41want to do this the contractor he took their money and they were taking him to court he was pretty
00:48hostile towards them usually in a murder case you hear about dna but in this case the fitbit
00:55completely contradicted his story and was the star of the show he thought he had the perfect plan and
01:03that he could get away with it it hadn't been a spur of the moment crime this is a planned
01:08cold-blooded
01:29murder
01:30ellington connecticut is a charming small town it's a farming community
01:35city it's probably one of the friendliest places on earth to live it is filled with cornfields and
01:44cows and we all kind of help each other out whenever we need it crimes are very rare in ellington
01:53that kind of stuff doesn't happen there
02:029-1-1 can i help you hello
02:09what's the address hello
02:14for 10 16 a.m a 9-1-1 call came in from a male moaning into the phone
02:20and it was a reported home invasion on birchview drive in ellington a home invasion in a small
02:27town like ellington would be considered a major crime so at that point all the troopers that we
02:31had are sent to that area so the first troopers that get there they go in guns drawn to clear
02:37the
02:37house through the front door which was unlocked to find rick debate the homeowner alive on the kitchen
02:45floor lying on his face one hand zip tied to a folding chair one hand outstretched and blood on the
02:54floor rick debate appeared to be injured but stable and immediately described the intruder as a stocky
03:02large male about six foot four the deep grovelly like vin diesel type of voice dressed all in
03:10camouflage and wearing gloves he asks him for his wallet and assaults him with a box cutter and a blow
03:17torch but then he says that down in the basement in front of him the intruder killed his wife
03:28connie debate
03:33rick was in shock but he thinks the intruder had fled the basement out to the backyard
03:39two of the troopers were sent downstairs to clear the basement they could see blood on the stairs blood
03:46on the wall when they walked down there they'd have to go through an area that had tools on the
03:51floor
03:52they immediately see a handgun on the floor and then notice the bulkhead is open
03:59in connecticut we call it a bulkhead it's the cellar door that covers the opening of the basement at the
04:06ground level and then in a dark section of the basement they find rick's wife lying on her back
04:14deceased arriving on the scene there was police cars all in the neighborhood the media was already
04:22assembling by the time we arrived rick debate had already been transported to the hospital because he
04:28had puncture wounds on both of his legs his left shoulder and cuts on his head but they're not
04:34life-thartening the entire street was full of state troopers and police dogs it was insane
04:42i had looked out my kitchen window and saw a state trooper with his rifle drawn on connie's house
04:53connie debate was one of my best friends
04:55i had no idea what was going on and i immediately called connie i was panicked and was hoping that
05:04she
05:04would answer her phone but she did not
05:10when we turned on to birchview drive it was a scene i'll never forget there was a sense of urgency
05:17neighbors don't know is someone on the loose are they worried for our safety
05:22we were told to stay in our houses so i was really scared for us as a neighborhood but i
05:28was also
05:29nervous and scared for connie and rick we have a six foot four stocky vin diesel murderer and
05:39camouflage running around the area and who knows what that person's capable of our department basically
05:47locked down all the roads in the neighborhood got ahold of the local schools community was shocked
05:54was was shaken our team is out interviewing neighbors to find out if they saw anything going
06:00on out of the ordinary as well as for information about connie and rick debate
06:07speaking those witnesses earlier on that morning everything appeared normal nothing out of place
06:14some of the neighbors that were particularly close with the debates described connie as a wonderful
06:21fun friend that they loved and rick was the life of the party connie moved into the neighborhood
06:28and that's when i met her she was bringing uh everyone homemade fudge in a way to introduce herself
06:36and she just had this vibe about her that just drew you to her she was the most caring loving
06:44thoughtful person that i have ever met in my life connie was a pharmaceutical sales rep and
06:50an emt because that was just her nature is to help people connie was a extraordinarily good mom
06:59and had two boys seven and nine connie and rick met at a party after college rick became a director
07:09of it which
07:10he he seemed to be successful at and he was a really a good friend and i instantly um grew
07:17to like him
07:18connie and rick were the couple that everybody was a little jealous about they never fought they joked
07:27around a lot together he doted over her they were a match made in heaven
07:41everybody's still looking for the person who committed the home invasion but at this point
07:46i'm assigned to go talk to rick he's the only witness that we have that knows what happened in
07:52the house so when he got to the hospital we walk into rick debate's room we could see a little
07:57bit
07:57of dry blood on his face and we could see blood on his hands from fighting the assailant he's got
08:04some
08:04superficial injuries from the assault do you know of anybody who would want to do this contractor
08:12it was a contractor that we took the small claims for because he took some of our money
08:17i sent a text to our sergeant at the house just to let him know that this person could be
08:23on the radar
08:24and they had already learned of the contractor through one of the neighbors i told the police
08:30that when i had seen the state trooper with his rifle drawn on connie's house all i kept thinking about
08:37was that she had told us about some issues that she was having with a contractor he did a job
08:44that was
08:44not complete he took their money and they were taking him to court and he was pretty hostile
08:51towards them i thought maybe the contractor had barricaded them into the house and had connie and rick
08:59holding them against their will the neighbors saying it and rick saying it so this person could
09:06definitely be somebody of interest and that's why the sergeant sent two detectives right away to talk to
09:12him there were two separate vandalism calls a couple months before connie had been killed my window
09:20was fast they decided to get a gun for personal protection the quote was i'm sticking to my story
09:26and i need to get a lawyer this person who's charged with murder is just out and about what is
09:35going on
09:49we had the dog teams that were out searching the woods looking for the assailant but we were given
09:55information about a contractor that may have been having a feud with the debates about work not
10:01completed at their house rick said they were taking him to court this was the only person that we knew
10:07so
10:07far that could have a problem with the debate family and his name was ken sweeney two detectives
10:14are sent out immediately to find ken sweeney to talk to him about his whereabouts that morning
10:20at the hospital rick debate also told us about two separate vandalism calls two months before connie's
10:27murder and they had to do with vehicles one was rags stuffed into connie's tailpipe for the following
10:35week my window was smashed freaked us out a little bit connie immediately called me and she was really
10:42convinced that the contractor had done this soon after that they decided that it would be a good idea
10:49to have a gun in the house for protection next we asked rick debate to clarify the timeline so we
10:59could figure out exactly what happened at connie and rick's home that morning he had left for work
11:05it was around 8 30 or so forgot my laptop turned around
11:13he sends his boss an email that he has to go back to his house he gets home around nine
11:18o'clock in the
11:18morning he goes in through the garage once he gets inside he hears noises up in his bedroom so he
11:26goes upstairs and checks and that's when he runs into an intruder in the walk-in closet i opened up
11:32and
11:32there's this camouflage dude this is where it all just gets so i never had a night this happening i
11:39think
11:39i just take your time i can see that it was hard for him to talk about but rick said
11:46the intruder had
11:46a bowie knife on him grabs him asks him for his money his wallet and his pin numbers which he
11:54gave to him
11:58at the house in the bedroom nothing appeared to be ransacked in rick and connie's closet we did locate
12:05on the top shelf a locked gun box we found the key in the drawer of their nightstand
12:12inside that was a ruger 357 unloaded with a trigger lock on it the intruder probably didn't see it up
12:19there rick hears the garage door open and he realizes that it's connie coming back home from a
12:27workout at the local ymci that's when i yelled there's someone in the house she must have ran into the
12:34basement
12:34because we have two guns in the house one was in the basement in the lock box and one's in
12:39our closet
12:40the one downstairs was loaded the intruder runs down the stairs and then rick chases the intruder down
12:49into the basement i just hear like the loudest bang
12:55and i saw my wife laying in the ground i didn't hear her at all after that
13:03we ventured into the basement right at the bottom of the stairs there was obvious drops of blood on
13:09the floor there was a butane torch zip ties a hammer utility knife
13:17and clearly on the floor was another ruger 357 revolver there was three spent rounds and there was two
13:25live rounds still in the cylinder just beyond where the 357 was located we located connie deceased
13:33on the floor she was laying on her back she had what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the
13:40back of
13:40her head and also a gunshot wound to her belly in a downward trajectory we searched the area to see
13:48if there was a third round and in fact we did find a bullet projectile in the ceiling joists
13:55connie had a cell phone tucked into her waistband as well as a fitbit monitor clipped to the waistband
14:02on her left side after rick sees the intruder shoot connie the intruder drags rick debate sets him down
14:11into a chair zip ties one leg and one arm to this chair and then assaults rick with a razor
14:19knife and
14:20a blowtorch from the basement which all belonged to rick when i hear the zip ties i'm thinking okay
14:27the assailant came prepared to restrain someone could it be a targeted home invasion somebody who
14:32has a problem with the debate feeling like the contractor ken swingy who detectives are still
14:36looking for so an opening to grab torch and all i did was just push it up toward his face
14:44area
14:44felt like i mean burn him a little at that point the intruder drops everything he's doing and runs
14:50out the basement through the bulkhead
14:55i walked up the stairs curled whatever so you got away from the chair at that point
15:00i was still attached to me once he gets upstairs that's when he grabs his cell phone and then calls
15:069-1-1-1 next all electronic devices at the scene were seized as evidence that would include cell phones
15:18laptops ipads i've never personally seized a fitbit at a crime scene but we took that as well let's get
15:24the warrants ready for all the electronic data so they can be processed for any digital evidence that might
15:28be helpful later that day the news came out that a woman is murdered an ellington woman was killed in
15:38her home after being shot in the head and stomach the victim has been identified as 39 year old connie
15:44debate i got a phone call from a neighbor she just kept screaming out connie's dead and in that moment
15:55life just stood still it was a moment in time that i never ever in my life want to repeat
16:01again
16:03all i kept thinking about were connie's kids and how are they going to get through life without her
16:14i'll never forget my dad called in the evening and he said that connie is gone and i said what
16:19do you
16:20what do you mean he said that somebody broke into the house and murdered my sister it was just so
16:25unbelievable she was only 39 years old at the peak of her life with her young kids and her family
16:32and
16:32her career so much to live for it was awful
16:39by this time detectives found the contractor ken sweeney at a job site ken sweeney he admitted there
16:46was some bad blood between him and the debates but he didn't feel like he had that much animosity or
16:52hatred towards them it was just a basic misunderstanding about what was supposed to be done at the house
17:00detectives said ken sweeney was very cooperative he had a rock-solid alibi of being at this job site
17:07during the time of the murder that was corroborated by his workers and he was more than happy to give
17:14us
17:14dna samples at that point we had a decent feeling that ken sweeney's not the intruder so then who is
17:24in processing the scene there were some things that did make sense for example
17:28there was a small window in the basement gently laying on the floor with no damage
17:35rick debate mentioned that basement window might have been a point of entry
17:40the glass isn't broken so we went to the window next to it and had someone push it from the
17:45outside
17:46and when it hit the floor it shattered into a million pieces and there was no evidence of anyone
17:51being outside that window there was cobwebs in the frame that weren't disturbed by anyone coming through
17:55it it was odd also the detectives at the hospital they were relaying to us that rick had very superficial
18:02injury why would a reported armed intruder murder his wife in front of him and then
18:09not injure him seriously and leave that witness behind finally found something within feet of the house
18:15outside that made no sense it was just very suspicious
18:33what stood out to me as odd is that an armed intruder broke into this house murdered someone
18:37and then didn't seriously injure the rick debate and then later on i learned from talking to the
18:44troopers that when first responders arrived on scene they found rick debate's wallet in the lawn
18:50with all its contents within feet of the staircase from that bulkhead where the intruder reportedly
18:54fled from the state police canine was brought in to assist the dogs kind of know we need to find
19:01a track of an assailant and they give off certain smells endorphins that the dogs are keyed in on
19:10the dog tracked from the bulkhead to the area rick debate's wallet was and went to where rick debate was
19:17still being treated inside the house by ems the dog handler then had the dog start a new track the
19:24dog
19:24again left the bulkhead area went to the wallet and then led towards the ambulance and the ambulance at
19:30that point uh was where rick debate was located that was a big red flag to us what's going on
19:36here
19:42after learning all of this stuff from the scene
19:46at the hospital we ask rick debate what are we going to find during our investigation that's going to
19:51put you in a bad light then rick drops a huge bomb and tells us that he's having a baby
20:00with a woman named sarah ganser that was an important detail to leave out we have a problem
20:09connie was well aware what's going on she wanted to have another baby due to her back issues and her
20:14health issues that couldn't happen rick said that it was connie's idea to have rick make a baby the old
20:22fashion way with sarah an ex-high school girlfriend my wife kind of brought it up to me because she
20:29knew
20:29about sarah did it bother her that i impregnated another woman it was very untraditional she um
20:36was amazing i never expected things to go that way it didn't ring well with me
20:45we continued to question him and his eventual story to us was that he was having an affair that
20:51started in the spring of 2015 and the pregnancy was an accident but he still said that connie knew about
20:59it she was mad for a little bit but really wanted to keep our family together and she really wanted
21:06to somehow have concept with another kid rick said that they were going to co-parent the baby with sarah
21:13it raises my eyebrows it didn't sit right with me at all and then the more we talked to rick
21:20the more
21:21he changed his story the time that he left the house would change the time he got back would change
21:27how he saw his wife get killed whether or not he was in front of the intruder or in back
21:36of the
21:37intruder the glaring one for us at this point is rick was telling us that he got home at nine
21:42o'clock
21:43and this all occurred within a half an hour from him getting home so that'll bring us to 9 30.
21:49the 911 call didn't come in until 10 16. so we realized there's about 45 minutes missing from rick
21:56debate's story but he couldn't fill that in and his quote was i'm sticking to my story
22:02and i need to get a lawyer if somebody wants to get a lawyer to speak to then that is
22:07the end of our
22:08interview at the hospital we sat with him for maybe a little more than seven hours and there was not
22:17one tear and that just didn't seem right we started looking at him as a victim as a witness but
22:26by the
22:27time we're done with the interview my focus had shifted him more into a person of interest
22:36our next stop was to go interview sarah ganzer rick's girlfriend who's pregnant one of the things we're
22:42trying to find out during sarah's interviews whether or not she had any involvement to what
22:47happened to connie in the house in the back of my mind i'm also thinking what if sarah did it
22:53maybe rick's covering up for sarah
23:00when we get to sarah's house we tell her that that connie had been killed in the house
23:04and that rick was in the hospital she seemed very empathetic sarah ganzer was somebody rick had grown
23:10up with she told us that she and rick started a relationship in the spring of 2015 and she got
23:19pregnant and was going to have a baby in february of 2016. her side of the story was that rick
23:27said
23:27you make me happy i want to spend the rest of my life with you and that rick promised her
23:33he was
23:34going to get a divorce from connie finally she says that connie did not know about the baby
23:42i told her straight out rick told us that it was connie's idea to have another baby but couldn't so
23:49you guys were all going to co-parent the baby i don't think she believed us at first
23:55but i told her more details and sarah broke down she had no idea her boyfriend rick was a liar
24:04she was crying like more emotion than rick showed us during the entire seven hour interview it's not
24:10always 100 but my general feeling after talking to sarah was i don't think she had any part in connie's
24:16murder at this point we know rick is lying to us and we started thinking that
24:24there was a plan here to get connie out of the picture
24:28well rick if you killed connie i'll make you pay for it
24:45after the interview with rick and after talking to sarah we know that rick is
24:49comfortable lying to us and he's the main person of interest but at this point there was no evidence
24:56to prove that rick murdered his wife so our next stop was to go to the medical examiner's office
25:03i was one of the detectives at the autopsy and we're hoping that we can find something to solve
25:08connie's murder the doctors tell us that the bullet in the back of the head was instant death i tend
25:14to
25:14think the one in the joist was the first one we think she's facing the murderer that person raises
25:21the gun she hits it that's what causes the shot into the joist she turns around there's nowhere to go
25:29and then the head shot was the second one that dropped her down the third shot was when she was
25:35laying just based on the angle of where the bullet hit in her stomach both bullets were found inside
25:41connie there were no exit wounds and there's no a lot of evidence hairs fibers on her person
25:50next we sent the gun to forensics but there's nothing on the gun to prove who had done this
25:57when we talked to rick he had mentioned that connie knew about both the guns in the house
26:04during some of the interviews we had spoken to family and friends of connie and we asked
26:08them about whether or not she liked guns but nobody that we had spoken to gave us the indication that
26:15connie would keep the only loaded gun in the house in the basement adjacent to the room where the kids
26:20are always playing that's suspicious it seems more likely that connie never even knew that they owned a
26:31second gun in an investigation like this if you don't have an open mind you could be wrong and you'll
26:36miss
26:37something very important but no matter what we did we couldn't find any leads to corroborate rick's
26:43story that an intruder had entered his home nothing appeared to be ransacked then there was that basement
26:50window possible point of entry that was gently laying on the floor with no damage and the superficial
26:56injuries that rick allegedly sustained from this six foot four intruder that had just murdered his wife
27:04we also got the dog twice tracking the assailant and going directly to rick
27:11just didn't make any sense
27:14so at this point everything's pointing back to rick as being the only suspect
27:29of what happened at connie was shot at 9 30 but the 911 call didn't come in until 10 16.
27:36so it became
27:37very clear that the electronic evidence was going to be the dominating feature of this investigation
27:43because everything is time stamped so it was going to start painting the bigger picture
27:49of what happened at connie and rick's home that morning i do a search warrant for video surveillance
27:55at the ymca to clarify the timeline and as far as connie's fitbit i didn't know too much about them
28:02but if it has any records i'm going to get those records with all of the technology and so many
28:09search
28:09warrants this is going to take a lot of time to prepare and then to go through
28:23the wake for connie had been maybe a week after her her murder there was lines out the door you
28:31could
28:31see what an impact connie had in this world she had tons of friends there and uh we had gotten
28:39up to
28:39give our condolences to the family and i you know shook rick's hand and i said i'm really sorry
28:47and he kind of glanced over me that seemed very odd
28:54at some point that day rick came out with something saying that this isn't as bad as it
28:59was for a grandpa or so you know like like it's not as painful or it's easier like it wasn't
29:05a big deal
29:06we were all looking at each other like how could he be saying this he's just so unfeeling and
29:12transactional not a grieving husband
29:19soon after connie's week i heard from people who know rick from high school that his high school
29:29sweetheart was his girlfriend and that she was pregnant it was definitely a gut punch to hear
29:34connie would have been devastated this is not something that she would have been okay with
29:39that moment when i found out about this started the doubting i thought that rick was indeed the
29:46person who killed connie
29:58when detectives processed the debate house they found copies of life insurance policies one for rick
30:04one for connie that day i made sure to call the company to let them know where the state police
30:11were investigating the suspicious death of connie and not to release any money to anyone who's uh trying
30:16to cash in on anything three weeks later i was contacted by them to let me know that rick had
30:24tried to
30:25cash in on the life insurance policy he had on connie for 475 000
30:36when i heard from detective payotte that right before connie's murder rick had dropped back his
30:42insurance and increased his insurance and increased hers
30:49that's when the pieces of the puzzle were starting to come together that rick did do this
30:56he made a plan to have a you know a new family to replace my sister
31:00i was just in shock you know very hard to process and just so unbelievable
31:11rick had a motive and opportunity now we just need the electronic evidence to corroborate that rick
31:18did this but we're still waiting for the search warrants to come to the office
31:23law enforcement became very tight-lipped about the investigation and it really put people in that
31:30community on edge why hasn't an arrest been made people wanted answers being pretty positive that rick
31:39had had murdered my sister you know i was worried about the kids who remained in the care of rick
31:46so that was scary i kind of just ignored rick even though he was still living in the neighborhood
31:52it really upset me because i think he felt like i'm gonna get away with this
31:59in the following months we started receiving evidence back from the subpoenas of the search
32:04warrants sent out for digital evidence we were able to start seeing how calculated this cold-blooded
32:10husband truly was
32:23as the search warrants start coming in
32:26it'll lead you down different trails to do more search warrants to get more information that was
32:30extremely time consuming just sarah's facebook records were over 36 000 pages
32:37but we're able to at least go back to may of 2015 when rick and sarah first knew about the
32:45baby
32:46through sarah's facebook comments to her friends we see her kind of explaining that
32:52and once connie finds out about the baby she's gonna eviscerate rick in court and he's gonna lose
32:58everything again that shows motive
33:03and he's still telling sarah that he's gonna get a divorce but at this point we speculate he's not
33:09planning a divorce there was a plan in rick's head to have something done before the baby was born
33:21and it came down to rick figuring out that the only way he's going to get himself out of this
33:25is to kill connie
33:29so rick used those two vandalism incidents that he actually committed himself to try
33:35to convince connie that it would be a good idea to have a gun in the house and he ends
33:40up buying
33:41the guns in october the next electronic evidence that came in were connie's fitbit records the fitbit
33:51is hooked up to your phone so it actually has a concrete time stamp we didn't get heart rate with
33:57this one it was a kind of a basic model but we can see distance we can see steps
34:05on december 23rd we could see when connie woke up and started walking around when she left to go to
34:12the ymca you can see that her fitbit went stationary meaning she's in the car she's not registering any
34:17steps we had gotten video surveillance at the ymca and as soon as connie gets out of the car we
34:23can
34:23see her walking into the ymca through her fitbit but also through the video we see her driving from the
34:30ymca back to the house from the fitbit we can see when she started walking into the house and
34:37that's when the front door opens the final thing the fitbit showed us was when connie stopped moving
34:45which was 10 0 5 a.m so we were able to speculate that that was probably the time of
34:52death about half
34:53hour after what rick had told us
34:57we also found out from rick's internet usage that the information about driving to work
35:03and sending an email to his boss from the roadway about being late that was sent from the house based
35:09on the computer records the ip address rick had planned on establishing that he wasn't home and he
35:13came back and found an intruder but what investigators believe happened is that rick never left the house
35:19that morning and then we also found out that after learning that sarah was pregnant with his child
35:26in may rick was looking up information in june july on how to poison somebody through dozens of internet
35:34searches but for some reason he ends up buying the guns in october and it's almost like a progression
35:44of how rick thinks he's going to get himself out of the situation
35:51in this case obviously we found the pregnancy with the girlfriend insurance money avoiding the whole
35:57divorce it just didn't happen out of the blue the scheme took months of planning
36:10in may of 2015 rick finds out that his girlfriend is pregnant with his child
36:17then in july of 2015 rick conducted searches on how to poison connie
36:24but in october he changed his plan and decided he would instead shoot connie to death
36:31first to scare connie into allowing a gun in the house he vandalizes his own cars
36:38debate then buys one gun connie knows about which is supposedly for protection
36:44and then a second gun that she doesn't know about
36:46he hides the second gun in the basement so connie won't accidentally find it
36:53and then rick increased connie's life insurance to 475 000
37:01then on december 23rd debate pretends to leave for work
37:05but instead he stays behind laying in wait for connie to return rick removes the window that was in the
37:12basement trying to stage it to look like somebody else did it to get into the house
37:19then once connie returns he lures her to the basement and shoots her to death
37:31finally he stages an attack pretending to be a victim and injuring himself
37:39and then he calls 9-1-1
37:46by april 2017 we finally had enough digital evidence to support probable cause for an arrest
37:52of rick debate he was charged with one count of murder one count of tampering or fabricating
37:58physical evidence and one count of falsely reporting an incident
38:09detective payout had called me and he asked me if i knew where connie's boys were and i said yes
38:16they're down for an easter egg hunt with me and he said good i need to know that they're not
38:22with rick
38:22he said that he had gotten an arrest warrant for rick for the murder of my sister it felt like
38:30such
38:30a relief because you thought hey this is this is never going to happen we finally felt like we got
38:38some momentum and then the rugs pulled out from under us
38:48when rick debate was arrested there was a sense of relief from the community
38:55i downloaded the arrest warrant and i read it from cover to cover finding out that rick was planning
39:02this for months was shocking because all along he was playing the perfect husband
39:11the perfect father the perfect son-in-law you didn't think about anyone but yourself in that moment
39:18he duped all of us
39:22but then the community was shocked because following rick's arrest he was released on bond
39:29so he was out until trial could commence he put up his home as collateral in order for him to
39:37post
39:37this one million dollar bond i found it very bizarre that you have this man who's charged with murder
39:45just out and about rick went to jail for about three days and then he was out free he was
39:54celebrating
39:55christmas with his family you're having parties at your house you're out and about in the town you're
40:02you're at bars meanwhile i don't have my sister anymore and i'm like sick to my stomach almost it was
40:10horrendous
40:17the trial finally gets started on april 5th 2022
40:23it's a highly anticipated trial so people are on the edge of their seats usually in a murder case
40:30you hear about dna but in the rick debate case the fitbit was the star of the show
40:38connie debates every step was logged the morning of the murder
40:42it was labeled the fitbit murder because connie's fitbit completely contradicted rick's story she was
40:51alive an hour after rick said there was an intruder inside anything you'd like to say to your wife's
40:58family no comment folks thank you after weeks of the trial on may 10th 2022 the verdict is in
41:08and rick debate is found guilty of all charges rick debate was sentenced to 65 years in prison
41:17with no chance of parole that's where he belongs
41:26he doesn't bring my sister back but finally you know done you know he's he's gonna get what he deserves
41:36when the jury came back unanimous i was elated
41:43when i look at rick debate i think monster evil but i also think pathetic coming up with a plan
41:50like
41:50this to end someone's life and destroy all these different people his own kids he hurt everyone
42:05if connie was in front of me here i would tell her how much i love her i wish i
42:10spent more time with
42:11her life gets in the way and you get distracted but time is what's important
42:20a friend and i walk at the cemetery it's kind of like connie walks kind of with us
42:26you know we go by her grave and we kind of just keep an eye on our girl and
42:31make sure that she knows that we're still thinking of her and that the boys are fine they're amazing
42:39i miss you connie
