00:11it wasn't just a missing woman it's a missing woman with a two-week-old baby they were able
00:19to confirm her whereabouts that morning but anything past that was a huge mystery my first
00:24thought was what did he do to her what has he done when people become obsessed they can escalate
00:31to murder every one of her friends are possible suspects police have a very small window of
00:38opportunity before something really bad could happen the smell of decomposing flesh is coming
00:45from the trunk of the car no one would have expected this kind of an outcome this is not a
00:51crime of passion there was something that was thought out deliberately to lie for nine months
00:57is ruthless it's calculated it's evil to plan this it's disturbing it's insanity
01:21austin is the capital of texas it's a very safe city compared to other major metropolitan cities
01:27and really the crime problem there is more of lesser crimes petty crimes misdemeanors
01:37but on december 12 2019 a patrol officer takes a missing person report
01:44someone named shane curry calls the austin police department and let him know that his fiance and his
01:50baby who was two and a half weeks old they're missing that right away is going to send us to
01:55another level of concern so they immediately call for the on-duty detective in the missing persons unit
02:03when investigators arrived on scene they meet shane who had called the police that night and
02:08he said his fiance heidi broussard was a 33 year old beautiful mother of two they had a son silas
02:16he's
02:16six years old and a precious little baby girl who was two and a half weeks old named margo
02:21their son silas was home with shane only heidi and newborn margo they're missing
02:28what's really important in missing people cases is when's the last time the person was seen you
02:34always start to search there so shane laid out the timeline
02:40he told investigators that day started out like most normal days shane got up about 6 a.m and he
02:48got ready
02:48for work and he left for work about 6 30. heidi ended up getting up with both kids and was
02:52getting
02:53silas ready to go to school that morning heidi called him at 8 30 that morning after leaving the
02:58school she said she had dropped off their son that's the last time that shane spoke to heidi
03:07shane gets back to his apartment about 2 30 after he's done working for the day
03:12shane finds the apartment completely empty no heidi no baby he initially thought maybe she had
03:20just taken the baby and was visiting somebody in the apartment complex so he starts looking around
03:27and he notices her vehicle in the apartment complex ends up going to her vehicle and finding it unlocked
03:33inside is her purse her wallet and a few other items that heidi would never leave behind
03:40one thing missing was her cell phone shane told us he called heidi gets nothing but then he realizes
03:50hey i better get to the elementary school to pick up my son shane said he goes to the elementary
03:56school
03:57he picks up his son goes back home heidi does not show up
04:04he started to be concerned on why was she not showing up this is unlike her what happened so he's
04:12calling her repeatedly and her phone is just going to voicemail then he starts making phone calls to
04:19her friends her family he calls rachel one of heidi's co-workers and megan one of heidi's best friends
04:28nobody has had any contact with her so he tries her cell phone again nothing so shane said at that
04:37point in time and about 7 30 it was really getting concerned so he called the austin police department
04:43to report her as missing heidi's case was different it wasn't just a missing woman it's a missing woman
04:52with a two-week-old baby police really stepped into action because of the age of the baby the
04:58urgency of finding this newborn as investigators search the apartment there's no forced entry in
05:05the apartment there's no signs of struggle in the apartment there was nothing out of place there was
05:11nothing you know thrown around the room everything was seemingly normal they didn't find any forensic
05:17evidence that a crime had been committed there but one of the things that concerned the investigators
05:25was that shane said that the baby was having some issues with taking food and there had to be a
05:32formula mixture with breast milk the diaper bag special food are still in the apartment baby margot had
05:41health complications from birth she had jaundice so heidi would have taken this special formula that margot
05:46needed she knows better than to leave all of that behind what woman takes a two-week-old baby
05:53without food without diapers without her purse police would certainly consider the possibility
06:00that since she had so recently given birth there could be a postpartum complication is she depressed
06:06is she suicidal a lot of moms do go through postpartum depression right after having a child
06:12but shane told investigators that heidi was in a really good place she didn't suffer from postpartum
06:17and she was doing really well after the birth of margot at this point we think this is a legitimate
06:23kidnapping of a woman and a baby so austin police and their detectives immediately do a neighborhood
06:30canvas of the apartment complex to see if anyone had seen anything noticed anything strange but people saw
06:37nothing and the apartment complex didn't have cameras at that point in time we did what's called
06:45a reverse 911 where the 911 system actually calls every telephone number in a specific geographic area
06:54to alert them that someone is missing a baby's missing and there was a press conference and heidi just
07:02having a baby it really grabbed our attention heidi and margot were last seen on thursday december 12th
07:09here in austin texas heidi is a 33 year old white female she stands five foot three 150 pounds if
07:16you
07:16see heidi or margot please contact the austin police department or your local law enforcement agency
07:22young mother suddenly goes missing very young baby missing with her the police are concerned about foul play
07:33the reality is that heidi broussard was an attractive young woman with a small child she would be a
07:40very vulnerable victim if somebody were looking for one an eyewitness saw heidi and baby margot getting
07:48inside of a vehicle the address was given out when the raid was announced and oh my god that was
07:55when all
07:56hell broke loose heidi broussard and her little baby girl who was two and a half weeks old named margot
08:13they're missing and the reverse 911 search called out about 4 000 of the neighbors but no leads were found
08:23the next day on the 13th the austin police detectives started talking to immediate family and heidi's
08:30friends my friend rachel she called me and told me that heidi was missing i was just like what do
08:38you
08:38mean she's missing i don't think your brain processes what's really going on but when i was told that she
08:45never picked silas up from school i knew that something was wrong your mind goes up the unanswered
08:52questions is she being taken care of is the baby being taken care of is she being fed are they
08:58cold
09:00you know are they alone
09:03you just you don't know
09:07investigators want to know all the details about heidi who was she did she have any mental illness
09:13is there trouble at home that led them to leave i told the police heidi rocked being a mom she
09:22truly
09:22rocked it her kids were everything to her she would absolutely never leave silas and me knowing the
09:33turmoil that her and shane had been in previously my first thought was what did he do to her
09:41what has he done in my experience the largest majority of the time when things like this happen
09:49it's going to be the spouse the fiancee the boyfriend someone who is close to the victim
09:54so of course the police are going to look at shane first
10:01we grew up in lake charles louisiana when heidi was in her mid-20s she worked at the casino for
10:07a
10:07while living her best life she was a cocktail adjust and had met shane there and fell in love
10:17they had one of those relationships it was a little tumultuous it was back and forth
10:22but pretty early on she found out she was pregnant
10:26of course the way we were raised her getting pregnant out of quote-unquote wedlock was
10:33definitely not the way you want to tell your family but she always wanted to be a mom
10:38they moved to austin right before silas was born and they had silas and nothing else mattered
10:46they were together eight years but unfortunately her and shane had broke up a lot she told me about
10:54abuse whether it's financial emotional mental but we all thought she knows when enough is enough
11:02and the last breakup that was it that was going to be it but then early that year she found
11:10out she
11:10was pregnant with margo and she told me she wanted to give it another shot because she wanted her family
11:18she wanted the unit and she wanted her kids to have that come hell or high water she was going
11:23to make
11:23her family work it's not unreasonable to wonder if something had re-emerged from the previous conflicts
11:32that they had had that was now creating strife in their relationship again
11:39next shane was brought into austin police department to do a real formal in-depth interview
11:46through the course of the interviews with shane
11:48it was obvious there were some troubles in the relationship but it's natural to have troubles in
11:53relationships shane told the police that him and heidi were in a good place and tells them there was
11:59never any physical abuse and the last time he spoke with her was the day she went missing she was
12:06just
12:06leaving silas at school she told him what she did at the school and that she ended up getting three
12:11books
12:12for silas and she was really excited to be able to read to him that night so while they continue
12:17speaking with shane investigators need to verify when heidi had last been seen austin police go through
12:25the surveillance from her son's school and they find footage of her dropping off her son for school
12:31she ends up getting caught on the camera at about 8 12 that morning heidi broussard was last seen in
12:37this image released by austin police smiling and wearing a purple sweatshirt her assumption is that
12:43they're alive and the sooner that we can find them the better so they were able to confirm her
12:49whereabouts that morning but anything past that was a huge mystery now investigators need to find out from
12:58shane where he was does he have an alibi in this case shane said he was at work his boss
13:05confirmed that he
13:05was at work all day as he was supposed to be so there was nothing atypical about his day
13:12shane was very helpful he gave the police his cell phone we could see when she called him that he
13:18in fact had talked to her on december 12th he had already let them search in the apartment he let
13:24them
13:25look at the car so there was nothing he was holding back his alibis checking out also looking into shane
13:31there was nothing that popped up that said there was any domestic violence that there were any
13:37police calls for service at the address as far as law enforcement was concerned he was not part of
13:43heidi being missing so at this point the police have very little to go on
13:50because this child is so young just a few weeks old has some medical complications and just needs basic
13:57needs taken care of investigators have a very small window of opportunity before something really bad
14:03could happen so i called the chief of the austin police department and said hey the fbi has a lot
14:10of resources we can bring we have the card team a group of investigators intelligence analysts technicians
14:18that focus on child abductions one of the things we brought to bear in this particular case
14:25is something called the fbi's child abduction rapid deployment team that we deploy at the request of
14:31our state and local partners whenever a child is abducted our investigators move out very quickly
14:38to start looking very aggressively where could she be where could this baby be we need to find
14:44heidi and her new baby as soon as possible
14:56heidi and her new baby have been missing for a number of days the fbi card team start looking hard
15:03for heidi after they speak with him on december 13th investigators moved on from shane
15:11the next step once you rule out a spouse or a partner is you start to look at every one
15:16of her
15:16acquaintances her family neighbors everyone she worked with and you really have to start digging in
15:23on all of those people as possible suspects
15:28investigators learned that heidi was very bubbly very social and very outgoing
15:35she was someone who had a lot of friends and she was like the go-to of the group i
15:42told the police
15:43heidi loves everybody she takes everybody in she didn't see the red flags in people
15:49they said she was very loyal i mean her friends date back from when she was a teen me rachel
15:56and heidi
15:56we were just best friends and we go to church camp every year we met megan and caressa at church
16:03camp
16:03in columbus texas heidi and them became good friends and they've always kept in touch
16:12it's kind of funny when heidi got pregnant with silas we were pregnant at the same time i was
16:18pregnant with my second one and she was pregnant with her first and you know she was so excited we
16:23were both having boys and when heidi had gotten pregnant with margo her best friend megan was having
16:30a baby too and they were excited to be pregnant together and just to have the same due date
16:39heidi was always the cheerleader when she loved you she loved you and she'd never let you go no matter
16:46where anybody lived you know she was always the lifeline that kept everybody together
16:54so when heidi went missing i thought it was either shane or definitely a stranger
17:00because none of heidi's friends would hurt heidi
17:05i know it's shane i know he did it i know it's him it's gotta be like who else would
17:11it be
17:15even though investigators were able to confirm shane's alibi heidi's friends still were kind of
17:22side-eyeing shane just because they knew heidi and shane had a toxic relationship there was a
17:27lot of speculation around him so i wanted to put together a search team i was like we need to
17:34go
17:34find her
17:42i became involved in this case when heidi's loved ones called equi search because of her disappearance
17:50that search is involved in volunteer search efforts we don't charge a nickel we'll be part
17:57of a search and helping families we're not part of an investigation but many times we've given them
18:04information that's led to some pretty good results i remember talking to heidi's friends and other family members
18:16i talked to a very close friend her name was megan she was telling me the stories about heidi and
18:24shane
18:25they were having some problems and she says knowing what i know about that relationship
18:31it wouldn't surprise me if shane did something to her and i said he really feels oh he's capable
18:40but megan said he's more than capable she pointed 100 to shane
18:49when we started that search in austin area i met with shane met with shane's dad there was many many
18:56volunteers that wanted to get involved so we put together some atvs and some foot searchers here in
19:05austin there's a lot of different terrain that you go looking through you have zilker park you have all
19:10the green belts you have natural waterways i actually marked spots on maps that she possibly could have
19:18walked to or she possibly could have taken a cab too shane and i spent a lot of time together
19:26driving
19:27around kind of looking at different areas everybody reacts different you know but i never heard his
19:34voice sound like he was gonna break down and cry his demeanor just wasn't at all what i thought that
19:41it
19:41should have been it seemed strange to say the least
19:51wow we were looking for her we were all talking trying to keep up to date with everything
19:56but there was no trace i was just like well will this ever be solved because it didn't feel like
20:02they
20:02were getting anywhere
20:05there were some calls that came in with possible sightings but none of them ended up be really
20:10credible after some of the search efforts that we did we haven't found anything we don't have anywhere
20:18else to go
20:24so next an emergency order was filed with heidi's cell phone company
20:28to see was the phone hitting we call it pinging was the cell phone active and hitting somewhere
20:34that request went through and it came back that her phone was either off or at a battery and it
20:39had
20:39not pinged anywhere since pinging at the house on december 12th the day that heidi disappears so we
20:46started canvassing through the neighborhood again because a lot of times what you find is people see
20:52things that they don't know are important until you really jog their brain this time one witness
21:01described a four-door sedan of a light color that she saw go around towards the back where heidi's
21:09apartment was then another neighbor actually remembered seeing somebody with the description
21:15of heidi and margo getting inside of a similar vehicle
21:20so we're starting to get a little bit more of a picture of the last time anyone had seen heidi
21:24but when people are missing you're going down different investigative avenues at the same time
21:30as we interviewed more of heidi's friends a couple of people told us that one of heidi's friends
21:35acted odd during the delivery of heidi's baby so investigators go to the hospital and interviewed delivery staff
21:46the nurse remembered right after heidi gave birth to margo most of the family got to hold the baby
21:51well shane's dad was ready to hold the baby and heidi's friend stepped in and said hold on and
21:57aggressively took the baby from him she acts very possessive with the baby acts very strange in general
22:03and literally takes the baby from the grandfather because she wants to hold the baby
22:11once we got that story of what happened in the maternity room our behavioral analysis people
22:18right away said hey we really got to look at this this could possibly be a maternal desire type situation
22:26maternal desire is a mental state where a woman has an insatiable drive to acquire a child that's why
22:36maternity rooms are so locked down because unfortunately there's been a number of instances
22:40where people have gotten in there and stolen a baby when we heard how heidi's friend acted with the
22:49baby it made us very suspicious about her mental state now we have a suspicious person our investigators
22:59from the card team said we got to go hard on this we need to figure out who is this
23:05woman
23:06and where could she be
23:17the police had talked to the hospital staff where heidi gave birth to baby margo
23:25the nurses remember one of heidi's good friends was acting super possessive over
23:30margo right after she was born police were concerned about the possibility of maternal desire which can
23:40turn into something that is not altogether different from what i would call delusional this baby's mine
23:46i need this baby i must have it when people get into that sort of delusional or semi-delusional world
23:55reality doesn't matter anymore and when people become that obsessed and that divorced from reality that can escalate to extreme
24:06violence it can escalate to murder
24:09so investigators decided to take this very seriously right from the beginning
24:14so investigators asked shane who in fact was in the hospital room when heidi was delivering margo
24:21and he mentioned megan megan humphrey which was one of her closest friends
24:28once we identify megan as the woman in the maternity ward with the strange behavior we start going back
24:34and re-interviewing people to say what can you tell us about her what's her timeline and any of these
24:41other
24:41pieces we have could it fit back to her so heidi's friends told investigators that megan lived in houston but
24:53they still kept in touch megan was one of heidi's best friends since their early teens but while heidi
24:59and megan were really close friends most of heidi's friends didn't really love megan when heidi introduced
25:05us unfortunately i got a bad vibe from megan i didn't like her right away but heidi's heart was so
25:14pure she loved everybody so i mean she's been friends with her for many many years according to her
25:22friends they just thought megan was a little weird didn't really click with her could give or take her
25:27but heidi was you know the embracer through the course of re-interviews asking about megan we find
25:38out megan announced she's pregnant not long after heidi announced she was pregnant when she was told
25:44about the pregnancy megan was like we're gonna be pregnant together november 26 the day that margo was
25:52born megan came down to austin megan was about 37 weeks pregnant at this time heidi's friends told
26:02police it was remarkable that she had driven about three hours from houston to austin to be present for
26:09the birth of baby margo and just a few weeks later on december the 8th or the 9th she tells
26:17everyone
26:17she gave birth to her own baby named luna investigators asked her friends did you see a
26:24picture of the baby have you seen this baby and all of them said i haven't seen picture of her
26:32wow you're a new mom you're proud of this baby and you haven't shown a picture so that was very
26:41quickly
26:41looked at but there's no evidence that she had a baby at all and she really starts rising on the
26:48list of of suspects you start doing research and now things start to click she actually has a four-door
26:56light-colored sedan like the car that somebody saw heidi and the baby get into in the parking lot when
27:03they went missing investigators start looking into all the red light cameras in the area as well as
27:09license plate readers and their license plate readers showing her in the area the day that heidi
27:16disappears also after her cell phone records were retrieved her phone had been pinged that date on
27:22different cell phone towers that were located near heidi's apartment so now at this point investigators
27:27put together a lineup of multiple people and megan humphrey and take this lineup back to the neighbor
27:34for an eyewitness account when they showed her megan humphrey the neighbor actually said this
27:40person is the person that she saw heidi and margo getting in the vehicle with on the morning of their
27:46disappearance obviously she is now suspect number one in this case is she going to harm the baby is she
27:58going to run is she going to do something you don't always want to do an interview right away because
28:02obviously the minute you do an interview they know that they're a suspect and we are very concerned
28:09for the safety of the child so the decision was let's put a surveillance team all around the house
28:15in houston to see is there any sign of heidi a baby anything strange the texas rangers were called in
28:25to assist them to assist them with the surveillance on megan's house in houston texas we see her car in
28:32the backyard it fits the four-door light-colored sedan that one witness described to us at a point
28:40during the surveillance a man leaves the house let's follow him see who he is where's he going
28:45he goes to target where he is observed buying baby supplies the texas rangers make the decision hey
28:54this is a life safety issue we're concerned about the health of the baby we're going to intervene
28:59right now so the texas rangers grab him in the parking lot they start asking him questions
29:06he identified himself as christopher green they find out this is megan's ex-boyfriend whom she lives with
29:13they asked him they asked him if he had a newborn child and he said he did and they told
29:16him we're
29:17looking into why heidi as well as her child are missing and they show him a picture of baby margot
29:22and
29:23he said that's my baby that's my baby at home
29:36investigators stopped christopher green megan's ex-boyfriend whom she lives with after he leaves
29:42target he had a target he had a bunch of baby items he says why i'm buying this stuff because
29:47my girlfriend had a baby but the texas rangers show him a picture of the missing baby and he says
29:55that's the baby that's at my house and then they ask him if he was present at the birth christopher
30:04green told investigators that he's an oil field worker when he arrived home from a work trip
30:09on december 13th his ex-girlfriend megan had given birth a few days before that while he was gone
30:17he said well why didn't you call me she's like please don't be angry but i ended up having the
30:21baby at a birthing center obviously if you're the father of a baby it's very surprising that you were
30:28not present when the baby was born the whole story doesn't hold water it doesn't make sense doesn't add up
30:34at all so based on all the information that christopher green gave authorities at that point
30:39they had enough probable cause to go back and enter the property where megan was with the baby
30:50i had been doing podcasting for roughly a year before the heidi case came about it was december 19th i
30:57interviewed her friend caressa to raise awareness about heidi and the baby's disappearance after a
31:04week of heidi being missing i think her friends and family were getting really desperate so we are
31:10talking to heidi's best friend caressa we were live on youtube so everybody is participating in real time
31:17everything of hers was there besides her phone and her keys which is very very odd yeah as the interview
31:25went on someone in the chat had said breaking news they're raiding a home in houston and that changed
31:30everything wait a second you guys we have breaking news northwest harris county home swarmed by fbi and
31:36austin police the address was given out when the raid was announced and someone in the chat started
31:44searching the address to that house and someone found a baby registry megan humphrey and christopher green
31:53oh my god oh my god oh my god what what that's megan her best friend what oh my god
32:02that's megan's house
32:05and that was when all hell broke loose i'm over here freaking out guys sorry
32:16i'm so sorry caressa i'm so sorry
32:24authorities enter the property where megan was with the baby and rescue the baby
32:29some of the agents take this baby to a hospital to make sure that the baby is okay
32:35then they begin to interview megan at the house megan tells the investigators the baby was her baby
32:41girl named luna okay when did you have the baby where did you have the baby she couldn't tell them
32:47where she had the baby how could you not remember since we were pretty sure this is heidi's baby now
32:55where is heidi investigators expanded their search and they start looking for heidi
33:03they are searching everywhere to see if there's any evidence of her being alive
33:10walking through the backyard immediately one of the texas rangers is struck with this smell that's
33:17coming out of the car as investigators you know that smell they pop the trunk and inside of the trunk
33:24they find a black duffel bag and upon opening the black duffel bag they find a female deceased
33:32pretty quickly they realized based on photos they had this is in fact heidi
33:39although we were very happy to retrieve the baby alive and healthy
33:44it's hard to celebrate that when you know that heidi died
33:50we have a fox news alert for you a dead body and a baby found alive in that search
33:56connected to the missing mother down in texas heidi broussard and her newborn daughter margot
34:03i'm watching news coverage and then
34:13you see the stretcher with the body pack
34:19and you know that your friends in them your friends are there
34:28i just remember screaming
34:33um and i'm just screaming like she she's gone she's dead
34:41i got a call from a detective says hey i just want to make you aware
34:45that we're at one of heidi's friend's house i can't get a lot of information right now but
34:50are taking megan in custody but we do have the baby heidi is deceased
35:01and uh just thinking man if i could just see shane right now and just hug him and say i'm
35:07sorry
35:07i'm sorry man i'm sorry once the baby was released from the hospital
35:13and dna testing proved that it was heidi's baby she was returned to the family
35:44i'm angry we're all angry
35:50why heidi your best friend is supposed to be the person you trust more than anybody
35:59the houston coroner did an autopsy and declared that heidi was killed by strangulation
36:06authorities charged megan with capital murder and two counts of kidnapping an account of
36:11tampering with evidence a human corpse for putting heidi in the trunk of the vehicle
36:16but megan would never speak with investigators about the details
36:19i'm not sure we're ever going to know the full story behind what happened between heidi and megan
36:25but it was pretty obvious it was a plan that was thought out deliberately over the course of
36:30months
36:30the timing of megan's announcement that she was pregnant doesn't seem accidental or coincidental
36:39she was probably planning right from the outset to take heidi's baby from her and the only way that
36:48that timeline would work is if she too became pregnant right around the same time
36:54the idea that somebody could lie for nine months to everybody they love is ruthless it's calculated it's evil
37:04so now at this point investigators must ask how in the world did megan's ex-boyfriend not know
37:11this whole time it sounds very suspicious so we really start to think about was this person part of
37:20this was christopher green planning this with megan
37:35when megan was arrested once they had found heidi and the baby a lot of people questioned how megan's
37:43boyfriend could not know but when the investigators talked to megan's ex-boyfriend the story that he
37:51told them was plausible he had broken up with megan months earlier right before megan announced she was
37:59pregnant within days of the now ex-boyfriend kicking her out of the house she comes back and says hey
38:06i'm pregnant and he allows her to move back in they were sleeping in separate rooms they weren't being
38:15intimate with one another so he was clueless he had not seen her naked and could not confirm that she
38:22was
38:22pregnant so he took it on her word obviously megan's boyfriend was investigated thoroughly and although
38:30it looks very strange it was determined that he was truthful and he was proven to have nothing to do
38:37with
38:38this crime this is a textbook case of maternal desire where megan was envious of her friend for having a
38:49baby getting pregnant everything that went with it she consciously made the decision i'm going to kill
38:56my best friend to take her baby because that's what i want looking back this is where i think the
39:05story
39:05started megan's boyfriend chris he was breaking up with her she's got to figure out how to make him
39:16stay what's the easiest way to keep somebody is to tell him you're pregnant when heidi first announced
39:23her pregnancy with the baby megan told everybody that she was pregnant too then over the course of
39:30the subsequent months she faked a pregnancy she gained a lot of weight she stuffed her belly to show
39:39that she was getting bigger and bigger every single month she created a baby registry and then later
39:45had a baby shower on november 26th heidi gives birth and megan is there with her
39:52and then a little over a week later megan tells all of her friends that she gave birth to a
39:57baby girl
39:58named luna on december 12th early in the afternoon megan comes to visit heidi at her department complex
40:07we don't know exactly how megan got heidi down to the car
40:11but somehow using that friendship megan got heidi to bring the baby down and see her
40:17investigators think that after megan got heidi in the car she strangled her and drove back to houston
40:23with heidi's body and the baby the next day when megan's ex-boyfriend came back home
40:31she introduced baby margot to him as his child
40:39to think that this was planned out over a nine-month period that she was going to do away with
40:44her
40:44friend just to get her baby and never have one thought that this might not be a good idea is
40:51crazy
40:51to me we did lay haiti to rest right before christmas and she had the absolute most beautiful funeral
41:00i saw shane at the funeral and i said i want to let you know that i blamed you i
41:07had to admit this to
41:08him and it sucked he was just like it's okay it's okay he was like everybody thought it you know
41:15you're
41:15not the only one you aren't alone megan never went to trial for this case she actually accepted a plea
41:22deal
41:23megan was sentenced to 55 years in prison no chance of parole and no chance to appeal her case
41:32what is justice justice is only a word families never get over it it's just a word to hopefully comfort
41:42us there's a lot of evil in this world and it just makes you take a step back and look
41:51around i mean
41:53she thought that this person was her best friend for 20 years i can't even imagine she took the
42:00mother of two children those children will never have a mother now she destroyed an entire family
42:06and it really breaks my heart to think about that
42:13heidi was
42:16a light in everybody's life she was a good person a good friend she had a laugh that was unmistakable
42:25and she wanted to make everybody's day a little brighter we all want to keep her memory alive because
42:34heidi never missed the opportunity to take somebody in and make them feel special and that's just but that's
42:41who she was
42:43you
42:44you
42:44you
42:44you
42:48you
