A touch of rice flour is the secret to perfectly crisp shortbread—and with just four ingredients, it’s also important to use the best-quality salted butter you can find. In this video, Martha Stewart shows you how to make her recipe for homemade Scottish Shortbread.

00:00when it comes to shortbread one and a half sticks of salted butter and make sure the butter is at
00:05room temperature and into the butter add three quarters of a cup of super fine sugar when you've
00:12mix the sugar and butter together scrape it down and then add your flour quarter of a cup of rice
00:18flour and one and three quarters cup of regular all-purpose unbleached flour and we've chosen to
00:26bake our shortbread in this beautiful ceramic eight inch mold this is going to be delicious and
00:35pretty and this has to be pressed to fill the mold evenly your oven should be preheated to 300 degrees
00:43so that will go straight into the oven turn it just once or twice in the oven for one hour
00:49and 15
00:50minutes so here is our shortbread it's cooled for 10 minutes i suggest because the mold is still a
00:58little hot that you just flip it over like that and then lift carefully there oh how beautiful
