00:00Johor Menteri Basar and State Barsan National Chairman On Hafiz Ghazi has rejected claims
00:06that his refusal to include DAP in a future Johor government is rooted in arrogance or
00:11racism, insisting that his position is based on principle and respect for the mandate given
00:17to BN by voters.
00:18In a statement today, On Hafiz said his stand had been mischaracterised by critics following
00:24his declaration that DAP would not be part of a BN-led Johor government should the coalition
00:29retain power in the next state election.
00:32On Hafiz also said he was duty-bound to respect the wishes of party members and grassroots
00:37supporters who wanted BN to contest the 2026 Johor state election on its own.
00:43He said the issue was not one of arrogance or race, but a matter of principle and BN's
00:48responsibility to Bangsa Johor.
00:51His statement follows criticism from political commentator Tajuddin Rusty, who accused On Hafiz
00:56of displaying a racist personality, after the Johor BN chief said he would rather forgo
01:02the Menteri Basar's post than sit at the same table as DAP.
01:06DAP Secretary-General Lok Siu Fook also mocked On Hafiz's position, pointing out that BN and
01:12DAP leaders currently sit together in the federal cabinet under the unity government.
01:17Responding to the criticism, On Hafiz said the political realities at the federal and state
01:22levels were different.
