Germany is reshaping its armed forces. The Bundeswehr is set to become faster, more capable and more technologically advanced, with the ability to strike targets precisely at longer range.

00:01Germany is reorganizing its armed forces.
00:04German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius presented a military strategy on Wednesday.
00:10The German government has analyzed how threats could develop in the future,
00:15which scenarios are realistic and which potential conflicts Germany must prepare for.
00:30In addition, the international government has been questioned as far as ever since the Second World War.
00:39In other words, the world has become irrevocable and, yes, one must say, more dangerous.
00:45This rethinking strategy includes air defense, long-range weapon systems
00:49and the ability to conduct modern data-based combat.
00:53New technologies such as artificial intelligence will also play a greater role in the future.
01:00Another focus is on deep-strike capabilities, the ability to hit targets far behind the front line.
01:06Pistorius made it clear that such capabilities will become increasingly important in the future.
01:11This includes long-range precision weapons that can be used to take out enemy supply routes,
01:17command centers or infrastructure at an early stage.
01:20In parallel to the reorganization of content,
01:24the German government is planning a significant expansion of the Bundeswehr.
01:28The aim is to have a total of 460,000 soldiers consisting of active troops and reserves.
01:34There are currently around 184,300 active soldiers.
