A sun bear cub found in a quiet Keningau village in Sabah is now under the care of the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC).

The centre said the female cub named Sandokan arrived at its facility in Sepilok on Tuesday (April 21) after being rescued from Kampung Bariawa Laut in Sabah's interior, about 320km from Sandakan.

00:35The Conservation Centre also said Sandokan, approximately 7 months old and weighing about 6.5kg, is slightly underweight but has
00:45a healthy appetite and a clean, well-maintained coat with no visible skin issues.
00:50The centre added that Sandokan is slowly settling into her new environment, adding that a missing claw on her right
00:56front limb would be closely monitored by the veterinary team to ensure proper healing.
