00:00Many farmers, many gardeners are crying out for some much-needed rain.
00:04There isn't a huge amount of that to come through the next few days,
00:07which is welcome news for many people enjoying the fine, sunny weather.
00:11What may not be welcome news is this area of low pressure to the southwest of the UK.
00:17Much of the country is under the influence of high pressure,
00:19but this low pressure, it is staying to the southwest of us.
00:23But it's relatively deep. As a result, areas closer to it,
00:26well, here we have some strong gusty winds across some southern counties,
00:30particularly towards the southwest. Devon and Cornwall,
00:32which have a gust of around 50, 60 miles per hour,
00:34perhaps up to 70 miles per hour over Dartmoor at times through this afternoon.
00:39Also in Devon and Cornwall, there could be a few large dollops of rain around,
00:42but most places having a dry day, plenty of sunshine, plenty of blue sky,
00:47just towards the northeast, perhaps some nagging low cloud
00:49over some parts of eastern Scotland, northeast England as well.
00:52Also towards the east, closer towards the North Sea,
00:55a bit of a fresher feel. Temperatures here pegged back into low double digits.
01:00Elsewhere, with all the sunshine, temperatures likely to be a couple of degrees higher than some recent days.
01:06We're looking at highs around 18, 19 Celsius, so feeling pretty warm indeed in that sunshine,
01:10especially if you're sheltered from those strong gusty winds towards the south and southwest.
01:15One thing to bear in mind, you may already be feeling it,
01:18that we do have some high pollen levels at the moment.
01:21It's tree pollen at this time of year, so not everyone suffers from this,
01:24even if you are a hay fever sufferer later on in the season.
01:28But yes, with that fine weather,
01:29we are going to see some difficult conditions for some people who do get affected.
01:34Into the evening, most places staying fine,
01:37just a swathe of cloud across parts of the southwest and parts of Wales,
01:41also turning cloudy across Northern Ireland,
01:43and elsewhere a few bits of low cloud developing, pushing in from the North Sea.
01:47And that's important because tonight you have the chance of seeing the lyrid meteor shower.
01:52It's peaking at the moment.
01:53Many places will have some clear skies at times over the night,
01:57so worth heading out and trying to spot that if that's something that you're interested in.
02:02But where we do also see the clearer skies,
02:05particularly over parts of Scotland and Northern England,
02:07it is going to turn a bit chilly at this time of year.
02:09Dianal range, the difference between your maximum temperature and your minimum temperature,
02:13that's quite large, and so temperatures could get a few degrees below freezing in a couple of spots,
02:18so a touch of frost in a few places, most places staying a few degrees above freezing.
02:24But nonetheless, a bit of a fresh start,
02:26considering just how warm it is going to be during the daytime.
02:30Then as we go through the day tomorrow itself,
02:32a lot of cloud to start off with for a fair few places, particularly towards the east,
02:36but it's going to quite quickly burn back.
02:38So whilst it may be a bit murky in a few spots when you first wake up by the afternoon,
02:44lots of blue sky on offer yet again,
02:46sunnier than today across parts of the southwest and also towards the northeast,
02:51with barely a cloud in the sky for many places.
02:54And with that, well, temperatures are going to be even higher than today,
02:57still a bit fresher towards those North Sea coastal parts,
03:00but even here they're up a couple of degrees compared to today,
03:02and elsewhere, well, we're looking at highs of around 21, possibly even 22 Celsius,
03:07so feeling pretty warm indeed.
03:09Watch out for high UV levels.
03:11That could catch some of us out, particularly towards the south.
03:14The fine weather looks like it's going to last for quite a while,
03:18but if you want to know more detail about that,
03:20well, check out the 10-day trend.
03:21Alex Deacon will be bringing you that later on.
03:23Bye-bye.
