Multiple safety incidents have forced the temporary closure of two early learning centres in Adelaide’s northern suburbs, leaving parents scrambling for alternatives. In response, the operator has scheduled a full-day closure for all of its centres next-month for an urgent ‘staff training day’.

00:34The Education Standards Board is also taking action to close Edge's Gula East Centre for
00:39two weeks due to concerns about food allergy management.
00:43We don't take this action lightly and it is really important for us that safety is paramount
00:48so where we see safety concerns we will not compromise and we'll take immediate swift action
00:52to make sure these issues are addressed.
00:54I acknowledge the inconvenience this causes but will not apologise for making sure that
01:00we have the safest quality childcare for our young ones.
01:05Edge Early Learning says no children were injured during the incidents.
01:09In a statement the CEO said the group deeply regrets the disruption these closures are causing
01:15families and that staff are working hard to secure alternative arrangements for children
01:20at nearby facilities.
01:22Edge will also close all of its South Australian centres on the 1st of May to put staff through
01:27child safety and compliance training.
01:29The Education Standards Board hasn't ruled out further sanctions if the centres can't meet
01:35the required standards.
