00:02This Angle Vale Centre is taking on more children for three months after a neighbouring
00:07Monopara West facility was forced to shut over seven incidents of children left unsupervised.
00:14Any issue like that is not acceptable. These were short issues and the team was on to it
00:19straight away.
00:21Gawler East is also closed due to poor allergen management. According to the Education Standards
00:27Board, four other EDGE services are facing current compliance notices and nine centres
00:34have been issued with historic notices. While the closures have caused headaches for some,
00:40not everyone's dissatisfied.
00:41I had no issue whatsoever.
00:43EDGE Early Learning opened its first child care centres in Queensland in 2017.
00:48It bought 17 existing centres in South Australia in 2022.
00:53It now runs 24 across the state.
00:56We have had instances where providers who are not meeting great quality standards have
01:01been expanding at a rate of knots.
01:03But EDGE Learning's boss doesn't think the company's quick expansion has led to the compliance issues.
01:09We certainly are investing more in our senior people and making more investment in our training
01:16and development programs. But I'm not sure we do grow too fast.
01:20Another EDGE centre in Hallett Cove is ready to open but not operating.
01:25We entered into an enforceable undertaking with the ESB in about August last year and as part of
01:31that we were unable to apply for centres to be open. So unfortunately that one is sitting vacant.
01:39The company is committed to close all centres for one day in May to train staff.
01:43So that's interesting.
01:44We have the new job.
01:45We have the new job that we're looking through.
01:46But the new job is to be done next year and we can take a new job.
01:47So now we're looking forward to the new job.
01:47We have a new job.
01:47I can get a new job.
