Jeremy White and Joe DiBiase discuss the narrative coming out of Boston that they had played their game perfectly, and discuss how if that was perfect, the Sabres are in great shape.
Transcript
00:00You got a minute for me to push back on a narrative that Boston is trying to sell?
00:04Okay.
00:05Did they play a perfect game for 50 minutes?
00:07Why does anybody think they played a perfect game for 50 minutes?
00:10No.
00:11I keep hearing that.
00:13We played perfect for 50 minutes.
00:14You're hearing that?
00:15Yes.
00:16Marco Sturm said it.
00:18Boston media is saying it.
00:20We just played a perfect game and then collapsed.
00:22Well, there's definitely some collapse in there, but you tell me for the tonight, line
00:28it up.
00:28You want to get outshot 36 to 18 through 50 minutes?
00:31You want that?
00:32Like, I'll sign up for that.
00:33Perfect.
00:34That's your perfect game is to get ragdolled, to get out hit, out chanced, out skated, out
00:40shot, but be winning two to nothing because of like a couple of bounces.
00:45That's perfect.
00:46Well, okay.
00:47I think that is to right now, right now, Boston Bruins hockey, perfect Boston Bruins hockey
00:57looks like the first 50 minutes of that game.
00:59You happen to have the lead?
01:01Right.
01:01Like, because they're not very good.
01:03And they are going to grit their way and goaltend their way to, we have the lead.
01:09And that's, to me, their season.
01:11That's a reason they're 28th in the league in expected goals for share.
01:15Like, they are used to being controlled in a way that they were in the first 50 minutes
01:21of that game, but working their way to the 2-0 lead.
01:25There is something in their numbers about that.
01:26Like, their PDO, their puck luck, they're very high.
01:29The Sabres are high, too, but Boston is also very high.
01:31Yeah.
01:32Like, they don't necessarily need the puck to score a lot, but, okay, then it's their
01:37version of perfect.
01:38Right, that's what I mean.
01:39Because they're accustomed to that this year.
01:42I think it's the mark of a team that's not very good, but you look at, like, they've been
01:45outshot by 100 on the season, and shot attempts, they've been outshot by 200 on the year.
01:53Like, just, they are used to the team, being the team that doesn't have the puck as often.
01:56So, for them, that's not really new.
01:59The Sabres had the puck for 50 minutes, and they were cycling around, and, like, I think
02:04that is what the Bruins are used to, because they're not that talented.
02:08I think the idea that they're selling that that's a perfect game, in general, is nuts.
02:13I might want to hear them and the Boston media then sell that instead of perfect as...
02:18Just a general perfect, yeah.
02:19Just instead sell it as, like, we were happy with how we were playing, as opposed to perfect.
02:25Perfect.
02:26Yeah, right.
02:27Perfect is pretty strong.
02:28Those are two very different things.
02:29I feel like perfect, you might be up 3-0, 5-0, 8-0.
02:33Perfect?
