00:00We could get to playoffs, Celtics' role as expected.
00:04We can certainly talk about that later.
00:06But the third period of that Bruins game last night, it's so frustrating,
00:13and I'm not going to push the panic button, but you're up there,
00:18you're on the road, you got a two-goal lead,
00:22and you give up four in the third period, and you now put yourself –
00:29listen, anything can happen, it's a long series,
00:33but you hit up there to start the series, and they blew it, and it's –
00:38It was quiet in that building.
00:41The last seven minutes, yeah, fans were out of it.
00:44Totally.
00:45Sabres were out of it.
00:46Right.
00:46Swimming was spectacular.
00:48He was.
00:50You lost their best player, went out and decided to tie that game up,
00:56and then it was – and that's a little bit on Charlie McAvoy.
01:00Like, that's not on Jeremy Swayman, that play behind the net last night.
01:03The second goal that tied it up, Scheim, I felt like both of their –
01:09both the Bruins D guys were behind the net where they're not supposed to both be,
01:12and I just –
01:14And Lindholm earlier in the game totally butchered.
01:17He, like, spun the wrong way.
01:19I thought Judd and Brick did a good job in playing it.
01:21Oh, yeah, yeah, talking about the dude who was coming down the right side of the guys.
01:23Yeah, yeah.
01:24Completely put him on – completely put him on skates.
01:27Right, it was like an AI crossover.
01:28But, yeah, wild, wild, wild.
01:30But I think the biggest thing that I was taking away –
01:33like, for me, it was literally the last seven minutes of the game
01:37is where they kind of fell apart.
01:38Once they gave up that one goal and it was 2-1,
01:43you're thinking, like, okay, maybe they were able to kind of lock down tight
01:47and get back into it, and then the other two goals within 52 seconds
01:51or however those played out, it was just –
01:53they had opportunities behind the net,
01:55and they just weren't strong enough on the puck,
01:57and Buffalo was able to take advantage of it.
01:59And it's more about – we talked about the experience.
02:02You know, Megal, you know this from kind of covering sports and playoffs.
02:06If you can steal that first game, it takes a little bit of wind
02:10out the sails of the home team on ice.
02:14So you go into that second game knowing, like, all right,
02:18if we win another one, oh, we're in the driver's seat.
02:20But if we lose it, we did our job.
02:22It was a tough look for Sturm, too, just in the sense that going into that game,
02:26he was talking about how this was like the big, bad Bruins,
02:29how they were physical and that was the play they were going to bring
02:31and sure this other team has the depth and finesse.
02:34It did not look like that in the third quarter.
02:36I thought that they looked very much like they were playing not to lose
02:40and to just hold the lead.
02:41Yeah.
02:42And I think that was a big blunder.
02:43No, it's a choke job.
02:45Is that critical enough for you?
02:47Yes.
02:48Okay.
02:48All right.
02:48Okay.
02:49I just want to make sure.
02:50That's putting wind in my sails.
02:52Yes.
02:52There you go.
02:53I just, I mean, yeah.
02:55What a huge gag.
02:57Like, what an opportunity.
02:59And listen, they'll, you know, anything can happen.
03:02Turn around.
03:03Great.
03:03Love it.
03:04You win.
03:05You win tomorrow night and series is tied at one when you come back here.
03:09So I'm not, I'm, I'm not going to spend the morning talking about them being done,
03:15but it's, it's really, it's really frustrating when you have a lead like that up there to start
03:20that series and you're up against a team that doesn't have the playoff experience.
03:26Right.
03:26As you said, to know that you can come back and win a game in the third, third period.
03:30Like that team, that team was out of it and the building was out of it.
03:33Yeah.
03:33So I guess like, you're right, Greg.
03:34Like, I mean, it's not, it's not like, I think you're spot on.
03:37It's not like hit the panic button.
03:39It's just more of you go, oh man, we missed out on a great opportunity.
03:43But I mean, you, you, we've been, we've seen it.
03:45We've seen it here in Boston.
03:47What a hut goalie can do for you, but what a goalie can do for you.
03:51And Curtis is right.
03:52Swayman was spectacular, you know, the whole night.
03:55And it's, but it's one of those games that you kind of gave it away.
03:58But I watched that.
03:59I was, I was, I mean, probably not the only one who said, holy crap.
04:03Like, if this is Swayman, this team can do anything.
04:06Yeah.
04:06Right.
04:07Yeah.
04:07You know, and then they get the goal right off the start of the third period.
04:10I'm like, wow, this place is dead.
04:12Yeah.
04:12Like they're rolling.
04:13Right.
04:13And then you're like, I don't understand the Bruins experience.
04:16You change the players, you change the coach, you change the GM.
04:21And it's always the same kick in the nuts.
04:24Yeah.
04:24Like it is shocking.
04:25Like a Bruins fan yesterday has PTSD.
04:28They've seen that 500 times.
04:30Yeah.
04:30It was just, I was shocked.
04:32If I had, if you told me the Bruins were going to lose that game at the start of the
04:35third period, I would have said you were high.
04:37And it was historic, Curtis.
04:39It was historically bad giving up that many goals in, I believe it was under seven minutes.
04:44Like that's the first time that that's happened in an NHL playoff game for a team that was
04:48down to zero.
04:50That's so you say like Bruins fans have seen that so many times.
04:52Well, they found a new wrinkle of it.
04:54It's like that Scorigami account.
04:56Like they found a new way to do it.
04:57Well, and it was so annoying watching the Buffalo fans outside the arena and they had
05:05their shirts off and it's 31 degrees and it's been 15 years.
05:09It's like, it's like, Hey Greg, good morning, everybody.
05:12You guys talked about this already to start the show, but what a pathetic display of hockey
05:17in the final eight minutes of that game with the Boston Bruins.
05:20Like it was, it was so brutal to watch because you got off to such a great start.
05:25You honestly, before that last eight minutes of the game, you should have had four or five
05:30goals.
05:30Anyways, Morgan Geeky misses the most wide open net I've ever seen in my life.
05:35Just doesn't even put that right on the, right, right on the goaltenders path.
05:39Like I don't know if he was seeing Jesus or what, but he couldn't, there was nothing there.
05:43And then on top of that, David Posternock had two breakaway opportunities.
05:47One of the pucks kind of got away from him on the past.
05:50So I get not being able to fully control that one.
05:52But the other one was as clean as it gets.
05:54And he couldn't do anything to get by UPL over there for the Buffalo Sabres.
05:59So you should have had a multiple goal lead there in the third period.
06:03And instead with the worst lead in all of hockey, your two nothing lead, you give up four
06:09goals in seven minutes.
06:11It was so bad.
06:12You had the Sabres crowd dead to rights.
06:14That team didn't want anything to do with you anymore.
06:18Somehow you had played Bruins-y enough hockey to grind them away to the point where you're
06:23going to walk out there with a win in game one as the eight seed against the one seed.
06:28And instead you puked on yourself and you gave up the lead and you lose.
06:31It is so, it was so, so bad, man.
06:35It was so ugly.
06:37I wanted Zdorov to knock Dorn into next week with his stupid smile on his face.
06:45But yeah, Shyam, you had an opportunity to win that game and set a tone for the series
06:51and you choked.
06:54And Shyam's bought on, though.
06:55Like the geeky one, it wasn't even like he was looking at the net.
06:58I don't know what he was kind of looking at.
07:00It was like he was looking at the pass and you bring that up and that one is quick at
07:05it.
07:05I mean, he wasn't looking to pass.
07:07He literally put it on net.
07:08Well, Ferraro said that he was like, he kind of like, maybe like he kind of gets it late
07:13and he's looking at it in the pass.
07:15And then all of a sudden it's like, you just, just look at the net, but you're right.
07:18And then the pasta breakaway, the second one, I mean, he had a great opportunity there.
07:23And then you don't, not able to, you know, like you said, Shyam, have two really, really
07:27good opportunities, put two, two more goals up on the board.
