00:00Hi, the topic today is what is the latest research show on stem cell therapy for diabetes?
00:06Well, a great new study just came out in a journal called Diabetology.
00:11I don't know if I'm pronouncing that right, but it included 13 studies.
00:15Six of those included umbilical cord stem cells, three were adipose fat stem cells,
00:20and four were bone marrow, all right?
00:23The total was 507 patients, so a very large amount of patients.
00:29Now, how big of a problem is diabetes?
00:32It's over half a billion people worldwide.
00:36Statistics show it's going to increase 46% over the next 20 years, so insanely popular, right?
00:43It's the eighth leading cause of mortality around the globe.
00:46So these studies were all randomized.
00:49That means that half got the stem cell therapy, and the other half got what's called a placebo.
00:55They didn't get the actual treatment, but they still kept doing their conventional medication.
01:02None of them had any serious adverse events.
01:04We don't either.
01:06Those are the same results that we see.
01:07And they followed them for a year.
01:10In all the studies, not just one, but all of them showed a decreased hemoglobin A1c over the span of
01:18the year.
01:19And it was statistically significant.
01:21Not just like 5%, but 20% to 30% decrease, okay?
01:26Decreased insulin requirements.
01:29Some patients got off of insulin.
01:31Others just decreased it nicely.
01:33And decreases in what's called postprandial blood glucose, the sugar after you eat a meal.
01:40So, very, very impressive results.
01:44Now, people ask us all the time at R3 stem cell, what about type 1, or is it just type
01:492?
01:50No.
01:50These studies included many patients of both type 1 and type 2.
01:56So we see a lot of improvements in individuals who have either type 1 or type 2.
02:02Now, in addition to these results, we also see, and we showed this in our study that was published last
02:08year from R3 stem cell research,
02:11there was a statistically significant decrease in these secondary complications.
02:16And what is that?
02:17Could be neuropathy, could be erectile dysfunction, stroke, all kinds of things like kidney failure.
02:23So we can help you or a loved one who's dealing with either type 1 or type 2 diabetes with
02:31umbilical cord stem cell therapy.
