00:00Hi there. I want to tell you about the PASSION study, which stands for perinatal arterial stroke
00:05treated with stromal cells intranasal. Stromal basically means mesenchymal stem cells. And this
00:13study out of the Netherlands included 10 neonatal infants recently born who unfortunately suffered
00:20a stroke. And we know that strokes in neonates often leads to cerebral palsy, epilepsy, issues
00:29in cognition, speech, visual field defects. So these researchers looked at all of these
00:36in these 10 infants over a period of two years. So all they did was when they noticed that
00:42these infants had a stroke, they got consent from the parents for the study. And this was
00:47not blinded. Every child got the treatment with 50 million mesenchymal stem cells intranasal
00:53one time. Okay. Then they followed them over a period of two years looking at cognition,
00:58speech, visual fields, epilepsy, motor function. And what they noticed that there was a dramatically
01:05improved difference compared to a group of infants that had stroke from a previous timeframe that
01:14were not treated with stem cells, just existing standard of care. And what they found is that
01:18none of these 10 infants ended up with epilepsy. Also only 20%, two out of 10 ended up with a
01:25clinical definition of cerebral palsy. Why is that significant? Because upwards of 65% of
01:31children who have a perinatal stroke end up with a clinical definition of cerebral palsy. So
01:37dramatically reduced. When they looked at MRIs at various timeframes over those two years, there was
01:43much less tissue loss from the stroke compared to children from that previous group that they evaluated.
01:51Now at the two year timeframe, there was a team of specialists, pediatrician, neurologists, so on,
01:59physical therapists, and they all evaluated these children with the various aspects. And they noticed
02:05that when looking at the outcome instruments, you know, the questionnaires and the objective data by
02:10all parameters, motor, cognition, visual fields, whatnot, they were all much better than what they saw in
02:18that previous group. Now it wasn't enough to reach what would be called statistical significance,
02:23but it was very significant to the researchers and basically leans into the fact that we need a
02:29larger clinical trial. But it does show us that this is a very safe treatment. They didn't have
02:33any significant adverse events. These infants tolerated the procedure very, very well. They didn't
02:39have any significant events that led to a safety concern. And that's very similar to what we see
